When using lightdm with gnome, the exploit works in exactly the same
ways as the original bug, just by switching tty's the lock can be
circumvented.

When trying to circumvent the lock on gnome with lightdm, it seems that
the exploit only works when using gnome on X. The exploit does not seem
to work when using gnome on wayland with lightdm.

It's quite inconsistent for me as well, but it doesn't happen on fedora
23, which has the same major gnome version, 3.18, so it's probably an
issue with the guys at ubuntu gnome and not upstream, although i have
heard of arch users having this problem.

I have also had the button to view all applications dissapear (circled in red 
on second screenshot) The dropdown notification center with the calendar also 
sometimes has the calendar missing. This often happens after waking up from 
sleep and can be fixed by pressing alt+f2 and typing r

I don't know whether or not this is a xorg bug or a gnome bug.

install it with apt-get

when i launch gnome-terminal in the terminal, i also get this: (gnome-

plugins-9/libgs_plugin_xdg_app_reviews.so: /usr/lib/gs-
plugins-9/libgs_plugin_xdg_app_reviews.so: cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory

don't know if that's related.

- I have also had the button to view all applications dissapear (circled in red 
on second screenshot) The dropdown notification center with the calendar also 
sometimes has the calendar missing. This often happens after waking up from 
sleep and can be fixed by pressing alt+f2 and typing r
