[Bug 478527] Re: Unable to create a new VM when selecting PXE boot and kvm-pxe is not installed

2010-04-30 Thread skogs
I second this. I have a virtual machine (winxp_32) that I only use for
Quicken and a few other occasional things. Now I can't start it.
Various errors. This one foremost after the re-addition of a thumb
drive it was trying to mount. Previously I had no issues...with or
without the thumb drive. I guess this is my 1 hiccup with the upgrade
process. I tried reinstalling all packages in questionno help.

[Bug 517714] Re: [Lucid] Error starting domain: could not remove profile

2010-04-30 Thread skogs
I don't suppose there is any explanation why I just upgraded to 10.04 and this
popped back up ehh?
Error reported in window:

 "Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/engine.py", line 588, in run_domain
vm.startup()
File "/usr/share/virt-manager/virtManager/domain.py", line 150, in startup

if ret == -1: raise libvirtError ('virDomainCreate() failed', dom=self)
libvirtError: monitor socket did not show up.: Connection refused"

Attempted: "sudo apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.libvirtd" to no
avail.
Nothing generated in dmesg output during error.

[Bug 517714] Re: [Lucid] Error starting domain: could not remove profile

2010-05-03 Thread skogs
I've been should on before, but I did remove my comment and everything
still works even after a system reboot. I withdraw my complaint. Shame
on me. Of course now I have no idea what originally caused it to not
work, but I've been trusting in FM for a long time.

[Bug 177235] Re: slow USB 2.0 drive: it's mounted as USB 1.0, not USB 2.0!

2010-12-11 Thread skogs
I frequently transfer large amounts of data from usb attached docks or
adapters. Currently it does show up as "Connection: USB at 480.0
MB/s". However the transfer speed is still around 1.5-1.9MB/s. Less
than 2 Megs/sec. I can download from the internet faster than that.
This has been a problem with ubuntu linux for years, as stated above.
Other linux distros don't have this horrendous slowdown - I'll
frequently just boot an unhealthy machine with Knoppix to transfer files
from it directly over the network because it is faster that way than
using Ubuntu's setup.

It is not network overhead/latency/throughput issues. It is not
hardware. Same hardware runs faster under every other operating system.
This is my ~6 month rant. Enjoy. Bump.

[Bug 604106] Re: Thunderbird black frames and window elements

2010-08-07 Thread skogs
I've been plagued by this recently also. Only since the newest version
of thunderbird (3.0.6) a couple weeks ago. Also using ATI proprietary
fglrx driver. I am using full acceleration, and notice no problems
anywhere else to my knowledge. I can't decide if it is an actual video
2d bug, video 3d bug, thunderbird only, or gnome theme bug.
