[Bug 468087] Re: dell precision t3400 resume after suspend not working ubuntu 9.10
Neither suspend nor hibernate work for me on a fresh 9.10 install. In both cases it looks like the display is locked up somehow after restart. Once I tried sshing into the box from another system after the restart... that worked OK but running "top" from that ssh session showed that Xorg was taking 100% of one of the dual processors. Just for kicks I tried killing (with "sudo kill -9") the Xorg, but it kept showing up again with a new PID still taking 100% of a processor. [Bug 468087] Re: dell precision t3400 resume after suspend not working ubuntu 9.10
Hibernate works for me now, after installing a proprietary nVidia hardware driver. The video card in my box (a Dell Precision T3400) is the 256MB PCIe x16 nVidia NVS 290, and the default driver was not up to the task... but the Ubuntu 9.10 installation came with two proprietary drivers for nVidia ready to activate: NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver versions 173 and 185 (under Applications->System->Hardware Drivers). A little web research indicated that 173 might be a bit more stable so I activated it first, and it seems totally sufficient for my needs (which admittedly do not include any 3D graphics or gaming, just a good screen resolution and adequate hibernate behavior). -- dell precision t3400 resume after suspend not working ubuntu 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1325069] Re: miniature view wrong on xfce workspace switcher applet
I still have problems with the Workspace Switcher that is on the external display panel (as opposed to Workspace Switcher on the laptop display panel) one , when I initially log in it shows 6 workspaces in 1 row rather than the 2 rows it is configured for. All I have to do to fix it (until I log out) is to just open the properties for that Workspace Switcher... opening the properties seems to force a reload of the properties and it changes to 2 rows. [Bug 1325069] [NEW] miniature view wrong on xfce workspace switcher applet
Public bug reported: Installation: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with xfce desktop Hardware: Dell Latitiude laptop (monitor 1600x900, 60.1Hz) with Dell 23" monitor (1920x1080, 60.0Hz) plugged into the VGA port Configuration: - in "Display" settings, both monitors (Laptop and Dell 23") being used, Dell 23" above Laptop, no mirroring, no rotation, no reflection, do configure new displays when connected - 6 Workspaces - top and bottom panels on the Dell23, with Workspace Switcher applet added to far right of bottom panel - Workspace Switcher applet settings: 2 rows, show miniature view, no switch with mouse wheel - bottom panel on the Laptop The miniature view of each workspace in the workspace switcher takes up only the left half of the workspace area in the workspace switcher. See the attached screenshot zoomed in on the workspace switcher showing that only half of the active workspace is highlit and in use and the miniature view is scaled to fit (i.e. is stretched vertically). I could only include one attachment, otherwise I would have included a screenshot of the full screen as well. ** Affects: xfce4-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: panels switcher workspace xfce ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2014-05-30 12:01:52.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325069/+attachment/4123089/+files/Screenshot%20from%202014-05-30%2012%3A01%3A52.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325069 Title: miniature view wrong on xfce workspace switcher applet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/1325069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1577192] Re: package gcc-doc 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up
I ran into the same problem upgrading Xubunut from 14.04 to 16.04, I followed Michael's steps (after trying and failing to complete the upgrade every couple of weeks), and then reran SoftwareUpdater from the Whisker Menu, and everything. Update is proceeding, I will post another comment if this does not work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577192 Title: package gcc-doc 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-defaults/+bug/1577192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1577192] Re: package gcc-doc 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up
System came up fine after updater finished and selected "Restart" from the panel ActionButtons. I did this rather than clicking "restart now" in the "updater done" dialog since I have not had good luck with that in the past. So Michael's steps worked great for me... [Bug 1325069] Re: miniature view wrong on xfce workspace switcher applet
I just unchecked "Use this output" (in the "Display" settings) for the Dell 23" (which was configured for "above" the laptop screen) to use only the laptop display, and then checked it again to use both, and the workspace switcher applet got even worse. It seems that ever time the I enable using another display, the workspace switcher adds another scaling factor. But I do not think is only a workspace switcher applet problem, because now there is a "dead" gap when I move my mouse from one display to the other, i.e. the mouse pointer moves down off the top display, but I have to move the mouse the height of the lower display before the mouse pointer shows up at the top of the lower display. I am attacing another screenshot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325069 Title: miniature view wrong on xfce workspace switcher applet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-panel/+bug/1325069/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
