[Bug 135348] Re: Error 3 when trying to open a pdf file
I also received the same error. It was a result of a bad download. There is no problem with Evince. The same file could not be opened with the Lnux version of Acrobat Reader 7 either. Also noticed that in Nautilus it would show as the icon the minimized version of the 1st page of the PDF document for good PDF's, but for this broken PDF that was having the problem. -- Error 3 when trying to open a pdf file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135348 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 93413] Had to enable feisty-updates
The fix works. [Bug 119248] feisty-updates not enabled by default
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt The feisty-updates repository is not enabled by default after a clean install. I reproduced this on 2 different laptops. [Bug 122947] Re: hwdb-gui shows no wizard
Please, ignore. This is not a bug. I realized I had copied my home folder from my previous installation onto the new laptop and the file ~/.hwdb was present, which made it go directly to the last page where it says what the submission ID is. This coupled with bug 115561 mislead me. ** Changed in: hwdb-client (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- hwdb-gui shows no wizard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 122970] Not sure it's a beryl issue
Yes, Beryl is installed on this machine, but I had some odd behaviour with it and disabled it. The window manager is set to Metacity and the Window decorator is set to "GTK Window Decorator" I also tried the same scenario on a different computer that never had beryl installed and it still does the same. Are you sure the default does not do it? Maybe you did not reproduce the exact scenario. Steps to reproduce: 1) On the standard desktop add a panel. It will be automatically assigned "right" orientation. 2) select the properties of that new panel. Uncheck the "Expand" option and change the orientation to "top". Now this new panel will be hanging just below the "Application" entry in the menus 3) Add a second panel. It will be automatically assigned "right" orientation. 4) select the properties of that new panel. Leave the "Expand" option checked. Change the orientation to "left" and the size to 120. Now this new panel will be on the left, but occupy only the space up until the "hanging" panel. 5) Open a new window (say Nautilus). Maximize it. Hmm... Maybe it's a different problem or manifestation of said problem. I definitely had the problem and it was definitely fixed for me with the 1.1 release (of 0.4). [Bug 122970] windows do not maximize correctly for non-standard desktop configuration
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel If I make an odd desktop configuration of the panels the windows do not maximize correctly. An example configuration will be attached in the post that follows right after this. Basically I have configured my desktop with 2 panels which are top and one left. The second top one is "non expanding" so there is plenty of room for the window to occupy the whole rectangle. When you maximize a window it resizes to the area as if the 2nd top panel is "expanding" and occupies the whole width of the desktop. I can manually resize the window to occupy the whole area. The problem might actually be in metacity, not sure. This is on Ubuntu 7.04 AMD64, but I believe it's easily reproducible on other machines. [Bug 485551] Re: XSane is not compatible any more with libsane in Karmic (9.10)
I performed the same operations as Lucien. Here is the sequence of events I did and it worked for me. 0) Unplug the scanner from the USB port 1) Uninstall libsane (and dependant libraries) including configuration files $ sudo apt-get purge hpijs hplip sane-utils xsane xsane-common libsane 2) Install the old version a) Open http://packages.ubuntu.com/en/jaunty/libsane and install the package for your architecture (libsane_1.0.19-23ubuntu7_i386 for i386) b) You might want to "lock the version" of the libsane package, so it does not attempt to upgrade it Find libsane in Synaptic, select it, click on the Package menu and tick "Lock Version" 3) Install back the dependant packages (the current ones, not the old ones from jaunty) $ sudo apt-get install hpijs hplip sane-utils xsane xsane-common 4) Edit the config file $ sudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules Find the text # libusb device nodes SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", MODE="0664" and change MODE="0664" to "0666" On my copy of the file, this it's on line 58. 5) Plug-in the scanner 6) Everything should work now. BTW: For me the change of the mode of the device was crucial. With the original Karmic (9.10) version of libsane (libsane-1.0.20-4ubuntu3) the scanner could be accessed by a normal user.
