[Bug 368201] Re: gnome (or firefox) 99%hangs system
Well, it's not Gnome or Firefox specific. It's now hung when Firefox wasn't loaded and again, twice, when running with KDE. SSHing in and running 'top' shows fairly high load (3.94) but very little CPU activity ...? top - 17:39:42 up 3:22, 3 users, load average: 3.94, 1.68, 1.00 Tasks: 129 total, 1 running, 122 sleeping, 0 stopped, 6 zombie Cpu(s): 12.2%us, 3.2%sy, 0.1%ni, 83.3%id, 1.2%wa, 0.1%hi, 0.1%si, 0.0%st Mem: 1535508k total, 1112468k used, 423040k free,49552k buffers Swap: 252k total,0k used, 252k free, 895260k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND 12799 root 20 0 2444 1080 824 R2 0.1 0:00.01 top 1 root 20 0 3084 1888 564 S0 0.1 0:01.69 init 2 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kthreadd 3 root RT -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 migration/0 4 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.83 ksoftirqd/0 5 root RT -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 watchdog/0 9 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.16 events/0 11 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 khelper 12 root RT -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kstop/0 14 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kintegrityd/0 16 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kblockd/0 18 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.32 kacpid 19 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.20 kacpi_notify 20 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 cqueue 21 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 ata/0 23 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 ata_aux 24 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 ksuspend_usbd 25 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 khubd 26 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kseriod 27 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kmmcd 28 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 btaddconn 29 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 btdelconn 30 root 20 0 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 pdflush 31 root 20 0 000 S0 0.0 0:00.47 pdflush 32 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kswapd0 33 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 aio/0 35 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 ecryptfs-kthrea 38 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 scsi_eh_0 39 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 scsi_eh_1 40 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 scsi_eh_2 41 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 scsi_eh_3 42 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kstriped 43 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kmpathd/0 45 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 kmpath_handlerd 46 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 ksnapd 47 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.06 kondemand/0 49 root 10 -10 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 krfcommd 312 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 khpsbpkt 381 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 knodemgrd_0 461 root 15 -5 000 S0 0.0 0:00.00 scsi_eh_4

The problem has returned and seems to occur once or twice a day. However, was able to SSH into machine and run apport-collect -l linux 368201 Although '-l linux' wasn't a recognised option so just ran it as apport-collect 368201 Which gave the somewhat limited information, above. [Bug 467475] Re: [TOSHIBA PORTEGE R500] suspend/resume failure 9.10
OK, this seems to be a problem with the MMC/SD card. If the card is mounted then the system will hang when attempting to suspend. If the card is unmounted before suspension then everything works properly. However, the card is remounted when the system is resumed so it must be unmounted again before the next suspension -- [TOSHIBA PORTEGE R500] suspend/resume failure 9.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/467475 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
