[Bug 877438] Re: Unity compiz plugin makes display slow on multi-screen

2011-11-08 Thread gmud
Same problem here, Macbook Pro with

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 330M]
(rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: Apple Computer Inc. Device 00c7
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx-
Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- SERR-
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nvidia, nouveau, nvidiafb

It's really slow when I connect another monitor. It was slow with Natty,
too, but not at unusable like the new Ubuntu version. I have tried
different version of the Nvidia graphics driver without any success to
make it better.

I noticed that after plugging in the monitor compiz needs unusal long to
"recover".

Oh, thats interesting. Maybe it has something to do with the upgrade
process (e.g. old xorg.conf, upstart or something). Would you mind
testing a fresh install with Lucid (in case you did a fresh install of
Puppy Linux)?

[Bug 494292] Re: 'Disable Trackpad while typing...' option ignored on Macbook Pro 5, 2

2010-09-23 Thread gmud
For me it helped to add the "-i" option with 2 seconds as delay. The
problem almost always nagged me, when I was pausing my writings for a
short time.

@itismike: Take a look at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro6-2/Lucid#Touchpad%20%28bcm5974%29
for instructions how to put the script at startup.
