[Bug 152477] Re: Xubuntu Gutsy release candidate very slow
I had the same problem on a Toshiba Portege 3480CT, same RAM. I am running a minimal Xubuntu. I have noticed that: - startup was slow too, so it is not something related to X - processor usage was at 100% even doing nothing!! - old feisty kernel was ok, so it was the kernel somehow I can confirm I have installed hardy kernel ( 2.6.24-16.30 ) and it is ok now. Not as fast as feisty, but at least as quick as gutsy with feisty kernel (that's 15x faster than gutsy standard, on this macine!!). In general feisty seemed quicker, and processore usage was less on the 100% side, but it probably did less things, maybe with the low RAM this laptop has (can not upgrade more!!) it has reached its limit. In gutsy just moving a window brings processor usage up to 100% until I release it (and I have also removed background image). Apps start quick and system is responsive, I think it is just XFCE that is heavier than older versions. -- Xubuntu Gutsy release candidate very slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 434502] Re: Can't launch anything outside "Favourties" or "Files & Folders" using touchscreen
I can confirm this bug with touch screen panel. (mouse is ok, trackpad ok) Installed touchscreen module on an Asus EeePC 901. All is working like a charm, UNR with its big icons, scrollbar to the right, categories buttons is the perfect touch screen experience, astonishing, but this bug renders the whole thing quite useless and mostly annoying. What I really don't get is why on earth should we drag the icons? To add a favorite there is already a favorite button. The only place we can drag them to is Favorites, no rearranging or changing categories... This for me is quite useless. There should at least be, in gconf-editor, an option to disable the dragging, in my opinion. If this was Off Topic, sorry. Can anyone tell me if the proposed patch works, how can it be applied, and to what? Do I need to download the sources of nblauncher (from where?) to my 901, apply the patch (to what file?) and compile it? Thanks for any help you may give. -- Can't launch anything outside "Favourties" or "Files & Folders" using touchscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434502 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 519583] Re: can't add, move, unlock applets & no clock
Hello, and thanks for the great work (Lucid is great, and NBR also). I understand it is a problem to let users edit the panel on the fly, so I was wondering if there was a way to just add an applet or two once by modifying some prefs or init files and then leave it there forever. After all, someone has chosen which were the panel applets to include and which were to skip, and that information must be written in files somewhere. So I guess it may be changed to just add an applet or two. In my case I would really need the processor speed switcher, as the Atom processor really needs to be switched to performance mode some times (skype video..), and opening a terminal to do it isn't great. I also like other items (vnc client) but I can live without. So I can live well without panel editing, movable panels and the like, and if there was just an ini file to tell NBR to load a panel item at next reboot, I'd consider it a real fix. Thanks again, Francesco -- can't add, move, unlock applets & no clock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519583 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 460436] Re: rt2870sta version bump to 2.2.0.0
I can confirm all the problems with the old driver, and now there is even version 2.3.0.0 on ralink site: http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=2 I tried compiling it with a "make" and it gave me no errors. I'm not sure there is a "make install" option and don't know if it works. So I don't know what to do with the compilation output, where to put it what to disable/enable: I don't want to mess up my system, so unless I'm sure what to do I'll stick with the buggy driver (and that's vry annoying I swear). If we have to wait for the 2.3 driver to be included, in the mean time could someone please make a binary package for all of us that are unable to install the driver by hand? Or at least post a brief howto, maybe it's as simple as copying the file (if you know where)? Or post a link to an existing *recent* tutorial? Thanks for all, anyway. But please *DO* include the driver in the main trunk! -- rt2870sta version bump to 2.2.0.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460436 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 455775] Re: Nokia N85 - DUN connects OK, NM sees the connection, but when selected (in nm-applet menu) it does not connect, writes "GSM Disconnected"
I can confirm too. Added the daily builds ppa and now my N85 works smoothly. I am using it now to post this. [Bug 455775] Re: Nokia N85 - DUN connects OK, NM sees the connection, but when selected (in nm-applet menu) it does not connect, writes "GSM Disconnected"
@Wolfgang, are you sure you have installed all the blueman required packages correctly? I ask this because I had a similar problem, before this bug, because I had installed blueman only. After some googling I discovered that just installing blueman from the BT repos is not enough, you have to add some repository (PPA) url and/or some other packages. Unfortunately now I don't remember just what you have to install (I read it in a bug here on launchpad) someone may assist you better in this. What I can say is: check you have all the required packages installed. (It is not related to this bug though) -- Nokia N85 - DUN connects OK, NM sees the connection, but when selected (in nm-applet menu) it does not connect, writes "GSM Disconnected" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/455775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 455775] Re: Nokia N85 - DUN connects OK, NM sees the connection, but when selected (in nm-applet menu) it does not connect, writes "GSM Disconnected"
I have installed the latest update to blueman, but things got worse, now I can't connect anymore, even disabling the NMDUN plugin and enabling the PPPSupport as before. So now there is *no way* for me to connect over bluetooth DUN in karmic. It worked perfectly on Jaunty (still works on my other netbook). Sorry for my ignorance, I'm rather newb here.. ok, I will try. In the meantime I can report I have successfully connected disabling the NMDUN plugin and enabling the PPPSupport plugin (in the about box).
