[Bug 363664] [NEW] xfce4-settings-helper is slow on startup
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-settings Starting the xfce4-settings-helper is very slow. My eeePC 700 needed 40 seconds from Login to Desktop, after disabling the autostart of xfce4 -settings-helper this changed to just over 20 seconds. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 0. a description of the problem. 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Juan do you remember which pakages were updated before the incident? Was there a kernel update? Alternatively can you upload the log for dpkg (/var/log/dpkg.log) and post the time when you did the updates? Try to hit Control + Alt + F2 to access tty 2, and if that does not work boot in recovery mode (chosen from grub). Does the latter work for you jhansonxi? If notthing of the above works boot from a live CD to access the Log (and your data). [Bug 556057] Re: 10.4 Bluetooth Keyboard Logitech diNovo stopped working
Yuv wrote here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/555169/comments/15: "after logging in with the PS/2 or USB keyboard, trying to use the bluetooth keyboard gives me a pop up warning asking if the device should be trusted. Hitting on any of the button of that pop up makes it go away but does not seem to have any effect. When the Keyboard sends signals to the bluetooth dongle again, the pop up reappears. I'm on Kubuntu upgraded via the net when beta1 was announced. The machine is currently used only for testing the latest Kubuntu. When I try to switch the kern.log puts out: ondemand governor failed, too long transition latency of HW, fallback to performance governor It is using the performance governor when pluged in and the powersave (meaning ~100 MHz) when on battery power, if p4-clockmod is loaded. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in the kernel. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. [Bug 458136] [NEW] Changing the keyboard layout cases the Xubuntu to hang 15 sec
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xfce4-xkb-plugin On Xubuntu (in this case a karmic) every action that changes something on the keyboard (e.g. adding or removing an layout, changing default layout or the key for switching the layout) cases the system to hang for ca. 15 sec. There is no difference of using the applet or settings Gui for the keyboard. It's possible to move the mouse cursor but not to manipulate windows or perform any other action. The virtual consoles work doing this time. The same happens when I close the xfce4-xkb-plugin for ca. 30 to 45 sec. Using the command line (setxkeymap) is faster (5s, this is probably due the slow CPU 800 MHz CPU). xkeyboard-config is not installed best regards Eremit7 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Oct 22 15:11:08 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Package: xfce4-xkb-plugin 0.5.3.3-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, User Name) LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic SourcePackage: xfce4-xkb-plugin Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686 ** Affects: xfce4-xkb-plugin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Changing the keyboard layout cases the Xubuntu to hang 15 sec https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/458136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I guess you faceing the: „W: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/latex-xft- fonts/cmmi10.ttf: not registered.“ problem that prevents latex-xft-fonts from being removed, updated or installed? The report is not that informative in the current form, I hat to guess form the logs. The problem is that some fonts are not registered and dpkg is aborting. As a workaround it is possible to register the fonts manualy via: sudo defoma-font register-all /etc/defoma/hints/latex-xft-fonts.hints dpkg gives to additional recommendations for defoma commands I forgot now, but you can simply follow them. As the package is transitional it can be removed and ttf-lyx installed instead.
