After some days of my machine working it also happened to me. I have noticed before too: I have pidgin working all day but sometimes my internet connection crashes, so, it has problemas reconnecting, when this happens, notification applet goes with the envelope and a green dot and after that it starts to be cpu greedy and never returns to normal behavior. Yes, its fixed, for six months used ArchLinux :-( Now Im back to ubuntu and everything is working again. Im not even using it (i dont have an account) and it consumes nearly as much cpu as xorg (the computer its been working up 2 days, 7:20h): 10:39.77 Xorg 9:46.63 ubuntuone-syncd It seems not much, but since im not a user of ubuntuone-syncd the process should be even working.
