[Bug 41091] Re: Ubuntu crash when connecting to port replicator (Dell Latitude D610)
Same here with a Sony SZ160 and its dock station on Ubuntu Edgy, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic... The laptop freezes every time I undock it. Nothing can unfreeze it except a 'hard reboot' (long press on the start button). Is there anything I can try to run or gather to help someone figure this out? Just for your information, I had the exact same problem with the same laptop on Dapper but it went away 'magically' one day after a kernel update... [Bug 71620] Re: System > Quit does not respond to assigned keyboard shortcut/hotkey
Same problem here. I've by now pulled all my hear out about finding a solution myself. I also upgraded to feisty, in the hope that it would (finally) fix this annoying problem, but it didn't. I even switched to Kubuntu as I really miss this keyboard shortcut (although I'm not sure whether I like KDE over Gnome). I can also confirm that the problem occurs on both the x86 & AMD64 version (as expected). -- System > Quit does not respond to assigned keyboard shortcut/hotkey https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, you're totally right... I realized a few minutes ago that it was caused by a rogue version of libwcnk (coming from the beryl repository: http://www.compiz.info/patches/libwnck/)... No. I do have windows as a second boot-option, but almost never use it. The SDcard is just in my camera. There seems to be some thumbnail creation running. (gtk-pixbuf-thum) ? [Bug 1905179] Re: SDcard show wrong date (one month later)
I just put an new/fresh SD-card to my camera, took few pictures. This time date is increased only once. It looks like that on a full filled card indexing/rewrite takes longer and so it is repeated. While on the testcard now there are only few images and date increase happens just once. But I also see a shift in 1hour. Shifting hours can happen by BIOS/OS interactions, but for a month? I took out the card and did 2 more pictures. I returned to BIOS and set it to GMT. Did not boot any Windows but Ubuntu. Again I see a shift for 1 month - so the previous pictures are now 2/2021 and the new pictures are from Jan. ?!? [Bug 1905179] Re: SDcard show wrong date (one month ahead)
It is not a camera or card issue (tried with another one). Under windows a new created photo shows correct date. There is write access to the card in Linux. I can see that unmount is sometimes delayed if using cards that are full of pictures. Also I get a shift each time I add a new picture and unplug/plug the sd-card. That shift doesn't seem to happen if a) no new picture is added, b) the process of whatever it doesn is completed last time. I did remember I once changed "timedatectl" to get it compatible to Windows. Otherwise the time has to be adjusted after each change of boot. To make clear that this is not the issue I set it back (see below). But even after that, and even after reboot - the issue keeps same. A new created picture is shifted to January 2021 and the other pictures are inbetween moved to May 2021 - crazy shit. Who is writing to my SD-Card and why? My suspect is a picture programm, but how to find that? Mate is setup to do no action when mounted (so not open shotwell or caja). ~$ timedatectl Local time: Sa 2020-12-12 18:55:33 CET Universal time: Sa 2020-12-12 17:55:33 UTC RTC time: Sa 2020-12-12 17:54:39 Time zone: Europe/Berlin (CET, +0100) System clock synchronized: yes NTP service: active RTC in local TZ: yes Warning: The system is configured to read the RTC time in the local time zone. [Bug 1905179] Re: SDcard show wrong date (one month ahead)
A friend could identify the issue and repeat that on Kubuntu 20.04. The reason seems to be the filesystem on sd-card. With FAT32 there is no problem, but bigger cards - beginning with 64GB - use exFAT. After sudo apt-get install exfat-utils the issue is gone :) I see this as a bug. The filesystem is mounted although it is not properly supported. [Bug 1888810] Re: MATE desktop in Ubuntu 20.04 screen tearing intel graphics
Mh, tearing seems to be a widespread issue. Regarding the duplicates: - I am not using intel driver but modesetting driver. - Don't have a second screen active. - Tearing is not limited to full screen applications. Yes, "marco" is Mate window manager. Does your answer mean that marco is the source of problem? What I can observer is that loading the intel-driver (with set tearfree option) the problem disappears. My guess this means it is not a issue or "marco", right? But of course there is a reason that ubuntu uses the modesetting instead of intel per default, that on cause other issues :( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110 Title: MATE desktop in Ubuntu 20.04 screen tearing intel graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/marco/+bug/110/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am a bit disappointed of no progress here. Pushed system to recent state - kernel 5.4.0-40 and other updates. Issue keeps. I think that at least all Sandylake chips are suffered. As for me there are 2 ways to get rid of flickering, but both are not make me happy: Either in grub add: - GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="intel_idle.max_cstate=4" or (that is new to me) - change screen resolution(!?!) Anything else than 1920x1080 works! If I can add custom resolutions I would play with that. But only 1600x900 matches my ration. Maybe this 2nd workaround gives the developers a clue what is the original issue here. Hope to get some feedback. Maybe this is the reason there are not to many that complains about that issue, although nowaday this resolution is standard. Beside that I have testet a lot of other things, kernel options as GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="i915.enable_psr=0" or in i915.conf options i915 enable_guc=2 options i915 fastboot=1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872760 Title: i915 - after return from suspend display is flickering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1872760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1853044] Re: 5.3.0-23-generic causes fans to spin when idle
Is there a chance that "flicker after reboot" (that seems to be a side effect of the previous fix) is gone too? Is it enough to save the /boot partition to recover system after tests? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1853044 Title: 5.3.0-23-generic causes fans to spin when idle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1853044/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1872703] [NEW] Graphical installer fails with encrypted volume
Public bug reported: Testet with Ubuntu (Mate) 19.10 and 20.04 beta - but I guess the graphical installer is same for all flavours. I have a single harddrive with a windows installation (sda1..4) and want to install an encrypted linux beside Windows. First I booted into installer from USB stick. In manual partitioning I created sda5 ext4 /boot sda6 encrpyted volume, give password "aaa" sda7 encrpyted volume, give password "aaa" sda6_crypt: ext4 / sda7_crypt: ext4 /opt In the next step I will ask for username, devicename and password. While that I get an error: mount of ext4 to an encrypted volume as / fails I would expect I can setup an encrypted Linux out of the graphical installer, so no need to use console commands... ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - I have a single harddrive with a windows installation (sda1..4). - Now I booted into installer from USB stick. - I created: + Testet with Ubuntu (Mate) 19.10 and 20.04 beta - but I guess the + graphical installer is same for all flavours. + + I have a single harddrive with a windows installation (sda1..4) and want + to install an encrypted linux beside Windows. + + First I booted into installer from USB stick. + In manual partitioning I created sda5 ext4 /boot sda6 encrpyted volume, give password "aaa" sda7 encrpyted volume, give password "aaa" sda6_crypt: ext4 / sda7_crypt: ext4 /opt In the next step I will ask for username, devicename and password.
