[Bug 709363] Re: swap partition disappeared during installation
In my case, the swap partition appears as not active (in gparted). Yet if it gets set to swapon, it never gets used during activity (even if physical memory gets pretty used up). The /etc/fstab file shows no UUID for this partition but /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 none swap sw 0 0 Also I checked the option "encrypt home folder" during instalation (i did a clean 11.04 installation last night and then did update-manager -d to 11.10). Maybe it's related to that. Finally, if some extra info is needed to diagnose the problem, please ask and I'll try to help out. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/709363 Title: swap partition disappeared during installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/709363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 709363] Re: swap partition disappeared during installation
Some extra info over here. I tried the whole process again and I found that, even if I choose not to encrypt home, if I do advanced partitioning, the swap doesn't get active. It's all about the /etc/fstab file, it contains incorrect info because it has no UUID for swap partition. Also, it replicates on Natty installer from scratch. What I did in order to activate swap was: * reconfigure the "/etc/fstab" file so it recognizes the location of the swap partition: # /dev/sdaX UUID=f33563e3-48bc-4ec9-9b8c-a4783ed4109a none swap sw 0 0 Using the existing own /dev or UUID, which I can get with: $ blkid and checking also with: $ sudo fdisk -l Then just issue the command: $ swapon -a And the swap partition shows up in tpo, system monitor and so on. Well... it haven't got used so far but I'll test with some youtube videos and stuff, trying to get it used. [Bug 775430] Re: segfault in unity-window-decorator
Another replica of this issue over here. One could agree with #Omer Akram about the nature of this bug. Most likely to be a clash of unity stuff which actually runs (!!) with the Gnome Classic stuff I'm currently using in my session. I chose not to use Unity, I logged in with Gnome Classic. Then opened Oracle SQL Developer like #m1fcj did and after saving and closing a script (closing a tab), all the window decorations went away... and the workaround from #Carlo de Wolf does not work happily 'cause the gtk- window-decorator does not take into account the theme settings (yes, I'm kinda pushing it, if one wants to work then the idea is useful). [Bug 760877] [NEW] kded4 process grows on memory usage
Public bug reported: I've installed Kubuntu 11.04 beta updating from a previous kubuntu (which was just installed from a 10.10 standard ubuntu, installing kubuntu-desktop and uninstalling all the gnome stuff). This computer is a HP dv6810 laptop, 3 yr old with an old battery that barely charges. Hence, I guessed this was related to the same thing as gnome's battery-indicator problem eating memory... and I removed it system tray. No good. Disabled Stagi and nepomuk as well... the 100% processor is no more (heh) but this problem still appears. Now I'm testing with the whole system tray gone (maybe notifications...) but it looks like it grows as well. The ubuntu-bug capture I'm sending was generated after an hour of use. The screenshots relate to previous tests (the last was from last night and today morning). Hopefully it will help you on catching the leak. alfabravo@alfabravoTiger:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Natty (development branch) Release:11.04 alfabravo@alfabravoTiger:~$ sudo apt-cache policy kdelibs kdelibs: Installed: (none) Candidate: 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-5ubuntu2 Version table: 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-5ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe amd64 Packages alfabravo@alfabravoTiger:~$ sudo apt-cache policy kdelibs5 kdelibs5: Installed: (none) Candidate: 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu3 Version table: 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe amd64 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: kdelibs-bin 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Apr 14 11:20:35 2011 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/kdeinit4 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release amd64 (20091027) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: kde4libs UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-04-11 (3 days ago) XsessionErrors: (knotify4:7886): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_debug_add_log_function: assertion `func != NULL' failed ** Affects: kde4libs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde4libs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760877 Title: kded4 process grows on memory usage -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 591119] Re: Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory
I already have Valgrind but couldn't figure out how to start telepathy- butterfly in it. If someone helps me a bit on this, I can kindly drive myself to memory-leakingness suffering "for the good of the game" :-) -- Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591119 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 591119] Re: Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory
Indeed, that approach to use valgrind on telepathy-butterfly didn't work properly and the thing never got to show up on running processes. Nevertheless, I submit the resulting log. PS. I managed to force telepathy-butterfly to grow up consistently by disconnecting/connecting my msn account. It grows 2MB per reconnection. Hope we find a way to point out the thing clearer. ** Attachment added: "failed attempt to run valgrind and telepathy-butterfly" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/telepathy-butterfly/+bug/591119/+attachment/1691618/+files/valgrind.log.zip -- Telepathy-butterfly leaks memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/591119 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 445303] Re: policykit-1 password dialog sometimes hangs
Reporting this bug on 10.10 amd64. When authenticating (e. g. update- manager), the password window stills and the process never starts.
