[Bug 126103] Re: should apply icons to xdg-user-dirs

2009-06-12 Thread Yann Dìnendal
No, they should look like folders, not like any other 'object'. The only
good way to do this, is to do new icons like the folder-home icon. It
will take more time, but I don't think we are in a hurry to change these
icons...

I think this is especially nice, as I had never seen a theme for the

2010-03-29 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Of course, I didn't mean Human in the previous comment: it has opaque
tooltips, so transparent images are rendered well.

Ambiance, Hanso, Homosapin, Impression, Night Impression, Radiance all
have the problem.

I thought DarkRoom also had the the problem, as the image's background
is colored, but it might be normal: the background of the image is
transparent. See attached screenshot.

[Bug 538827] [NEW] Can't double-click anywhere on the title bar to maximize the windows

2010-03-14 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: light-themes

As stated by Kenneth Wimer in Bug #534802, there is no need for a visual
separation between the title bar and the menu bar, as we can now drag
the windows from anywhere in these 2 bars (which now look like a single
bar).

But when you double click on the title bar, it (un-)maximizes it. If you
double click on the menu bar... Nothing happen!

It is very confusing for users who now expect both thoses bars to behave
as one. In fact, many users will not see the difference between the 2
bars, and will not understand why sometimes it doesn't work! It is not
consistent at all.

I believe this is a big issue (and while users are not yet used to the
left position of the buttons, they might use this method to maximize
their windows even more often).

[Bug 538838] [NEW] Can't move a firefox window by draging the menubar

2010-03-14 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: light-themes

With Ambiance and Radiance, we can move any windows by grabbing the menu bar.
Except a Firefox window!
This is causes a big inconsistency: users won't understand why sometimes, they
can't drag Firefox windows.

[Bug 548389] Re: [needs-packaging] Upgrade Miro to 3.0

2010-04-07 Thread Yann Dìnendal
OK, thanks. I believe it would be appropriate for an LTS to have this version,
as it will have to be supported for a long time.

[Bug 533175] Re: Keep Color of Menus similar to the actual element the user selects

2010-04-09 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Furthermore, in the panel bar, with Ambiance, each menu item (indicator
applets) are dark and display a dark menu... except the calendar applet, which
is dark, but opens a light "menu" (which does not reacts as a menu, by the way).
It might not be the same problem as this bug report, but the effect is the same
for the user: clicking a black item opens a light menu (which is inconsistant
with the other menus next to it).

[Bug 538293] [NEW] Wrong transparency in tooltips of the new themes

With the new transparent purple tooltips, transparent images in the tooltips

[Bug 538293] Re: Wrong transparency in tooltips of the new themes

2010-03-26 Thread Yann Dìnendal
It might be a bug with light-themes (among other themes), really: I've just
noticed it works perfectly with the Sorbet theme (from the community-themes
package).
See attached screenshot for a transparent png rendered well in a transparent
tooltip.
Sorbet is the only theme I've found where it looks good. It is based on
Homosapien which has the problem, so you might want to look the differences
between both themes.

[Bug 549184] [NEW] brasero dialog "please eject the CD yourself" has a Cancel button instead of OK.

2010-03-26 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

After successfully burning a CD, brasero asked to "please eject the CD
yourself" (or similar, I've it in French). So I eject it. And the dialog
doesn't disappear and the only option available remains the "Cancel"
button. It should be "OK", to acknowledge that I've ejected the CD. I
hesitated and didn't know exactly what it would cancel…

[Bug 516412] Re: Pressing causes X to freeze

2010-02-06 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Hi, I have the same problem. I also have an NVidia card (and plymouth
has never shown me any graphical boot).

But I have noticed something else : if I type the key « (or maybe any
other unicod character, I haven't tried), it would crash my gnome
session and return to GDM. I believed it was not the same problem at
all… But once I do that and my session crashes, I can then type ENTER or
the "«" key without any problem !

I would gladly give more details or try some tests if it could help.

2010-02-07 Thread Yann Dìnendal
I can confirm this bug, although I don't use language-pack-gnome-zh-hans
but language-pack-gnome-fr.

So everything is in french, including «Système», «Préférences» and
«Administration».
But everything inside these 2 menus is in english ("About me", "Appearance",…
"Computer janitor", "Disk utility"…).
The «Applications» menu also has some entries in english, like "Calculator" or
"Rhythmbox Music Player".

[Bug 522692] Re: Pressing key causes X to freeze

2010-02-16 Thread Yann Dìnendal
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: plymouth

Pressing the enter key causes the whole system to freeze. The system
  still respond to ssh.

It does not happen on every boot, but a visible screen corruption in the
top left side of the screen is a symptom that the crash will happen in
  that session.

WORKAROUND (thanks to Simon Baconnais): kill X by pressing
Ctrl+Alt+Print+K fixes the problem until the next reboot. Some also may

[Bug 987023] [NEW] Upgrading to a new release displays a fuzzy icon in the launcher

2012-04-22 Thread Yann Dìnendal
Public bug reported:

In Oneiric, type `update-manager -d`, accept the upgrade. A new window opens,
which uses a new launcher item instead of the main update-manager icon. The new
icon is low resolution, and doesn't display a progress bar, like the main
update-manager launcher item does.
And it is possible to launch another instance of the distrib upgrade window.

I think all these problems would be resolved by doing the actual upgrade
in the main window.

[Bug 988997] Re: Keyboard shortcuts - Update some window management shortcuts to use "Ctrl + Super" instead of just "Super" (Part 2)

2012-04-26 Thread Yann Dìnendal
About the "show desktop" shortcut, which is one of the most well known
shortcuts, I think it would be better to keep the existing "Ctrl + Alt +
D".

If the rational is that "Ctrl + Shift" is used to interact on a window while
"Ctrl + Alt" lets interacting with workspaces, I would argue that while "Ctrl +
Shift" interacts with the current window, this is not what "Show desktop" does.
It hides all the windows. Seen another way, it lets us view the workspace
behind the current windows.
So I don't think that "Ctrl + Alt + D" to show the desktop would contradict the
new "Ctrl + Shift" vs "Ctrl + Alt" distinction.

[Bug 674607] Re: 4 beta: ConfigParser.NoOptionError: No option 'lastversion' in section: 'Compatibility'

2010-11-15 Thread Yann Dìnendal
I have the same bug. If I kill xulapp-profilemigrator, Firefox 4 will start
correctly (it asks me which profile to launch).
But then, if I click on a link from another app, the same problem will happen:
xulapp-profilemigrator will block the link from opening in firefox-4.0
(although it is already launched), but if I kill it, the link opens.

My compatibility.ini file is similar, except this:
LastVersion=4.0b8pre_20101112083320/20101112083320
LastOSABI=Linux_x86-gcc3
