[Bug 236344] [NEW] Line break occurs when typing password or canceling

2008-05-31 Thread Vince N
Public bug reported:

System: XPS M1330 running Ubuntu Hardy 8.04

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsusb |grep Finger
Bus 007 Device 006: ID 0483:2016 SGS Thomson Microelectronics Fingerprint Reader

I followed the guide located here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ThinkFinger
Currently installed version:  0.3+r118-0ubuntu3

Issue: When I type my password or cancel instead of swiping my finger a
line break occurs.

Example:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ su vnewell
Password or swipe finger:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

The above is a result of typing the command "su vnewell," and swiping my
finger at the prompt. However, when I type my password and hit enter
instead of swiping:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ su vnewell
Password or swipe finger:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Notice there is an extra line break that occurs after the authentication.
Please see the attached demonstration video.

[Bug 160264] Re: [nvidia] compiz displays white screen when locked

2008-06-03 Thread Vince N
Following Clayton Smith's comment (69) using Mario's patch fixed the
white screen on resume issue, but now I cannot use a "blank screen" for
a screen saver. It will dim out to black, flash once, and then show a
picture of my desktop, only faded. Can anyone confirm this?

[Bug 279993] [NEW] Display bug in terminal with "cd" and "ls" in quick succession

2008-10-07 Thread Vince N
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

(I am running x64)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-terminal
gnome-terminal:
  Installed: 2.22.1-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2.22.1-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Sometimes when I change the directory in a terminal, list the contents,
switch to another directory, then try to list its contents, it will not
show output immediately, but rather show the command I entered with a
blinking cursor in the first character and a solid cursor at the end.
Then I have to either wait for the output to show up after 3-5 seconds
or just switch windows or enter another command.

I can reproduce this bug consistently by running the following commands,
though I cannot figure out the pattern of when this is occurring.

cd /usr/share
ls
cd /usr/local
ls

I attached an image file of the bug.

[Bug 279993] Re: Display bug in terminal with "cd" and "ls" in quick succession

2008-10-07 Thread Vince N
Interesting... it only seems to happen when Nvidia powermizer is on
Performance Level 0. The commands work fine when it's on Level 2!

I am running a newer driver:
The currently installed driver is: 'NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics Driver for
Linux-x86_64' (version: 177.67).

Maybe I'll try rolling back and see if I can still reproduce this bug.
Sorry, I didn't notice this until right after I posted.

[Bug 279993] Re: Display bug in terminal with "cd" and "ls" in quick succession

2008-10-08 Thread Vince N
I don't get this same problem in xterm or terminator. I am starting to
believe that it is related to my nvidia driver, but I am perplexed as to
why it happens in gnome-terminal only.

It doesn't only happen with cd and ls, sometimes it will happen on other
commands. This is just how I can reproduce it consistently (as long as
Performance Level is on 0)

I took a video and uploaded it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f7fySzFUPE

I hit enter at 0:07, showing the bug. This happens again at 0:21.

Then I show the Performance Level's affect on the bug: I switch
workspaces a few times to get the level to 2, then try to reproduce the
bug and fail. The level drops to 1 at 1:12. I still cannot reproduce
the bug. The Performance Level drops to 0 at 1:24, and I reproduce the
bug at 1:32.

This is on Nvidia 8400M GS driver 177.67 --- If people cannot report
this bug for a supported driver I will have to take it up with nvidia.

Download attached dockerfile and build a docker image
$ docker build -t snmptest:latest .

Start snmpd container:
$ docker run --name snmpd --rm -it snmptest:latest

Run the snmpbulkget in another ephemeral container:
$ docker run --network="container:snmpd" --rm -it snmptest:latest \
snmpbulkget -v2c -c public -Cn1 -Cr1 -Os localhost
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSWInstalledTable

Result:
hrSWInstalledIndex.0 = INTEGER: 0

If these steps are not good enough for your processes I can try to
reproduce it from a 17.10 virtual machine.

[Bug 1229195] Re: Openconnect will not connect under Saucy -- openssl problem?

2013-10-18 Thread Vince N
>From the --dump-http output, it seems that the XML transaction is
selecting incorrect tunnel-group and group-alias.

I attempted to patch a --no-xmlpost option into network-manager-
openconnect, but in the process I figured out a strange workaround...

I am currently instructing my Ubuntu 13.10 users to press the 'connect'
button in network-manager-openconnect TWICE RAPIDLY. For some reason,
after the SSL socket is closed unexpectedly during the first connection
attempt, the second attempt doesn't use XML Post, and authentication
succeeds.

[Bug 1314760] [NEW] first hrSWInstalledIndex is 0, should be 1

2014-04-30 Thread Vince N
Public bug reported:

According to RFC 2790 the hrSWInstalledIndex should start at 1:

  hrSWInstalledIndex OBJECT-TYPE
   SYNTAX Integer32 (1..2147483647)
   MAX-ACCESS read-only
   STATUS current
   DESCRIPTION
   "A unique value for each piece of software installed
   on the host. This value shall be in the range from 1
   to the number of pieces of software installed on the
   host."
   ::= { hrSWInstalledEntry 1 }

However, when grabbing the hrSWInstalledTable, my first entry is at index 0.
Example:
$ snmpbulkget -v2c -c public -Cn1 -Cr1 -ObentU localhost 1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3
.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.1.0 = INTEGER: 0

For a CentOS 6 host the behavior is according to spec:
$ snmpbulkget -v2c -c public -Cn1 -Cr1 -ObentU centos6_srv.example.com
1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3
.1.3.6.1.2.1.25.6.3.1.1.1 = INTEGER: 1

I found this issue while trying to read HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSWRunPerfTable
