[Bug 118853] installer crashes during partitioning

2007-06-05 Thread vid
Public bug reported:

Hi, i am installing ubuntu on Toshiba A205-S4629 notebook.

Installer crashes during partitioning (step 4)

I had preinstalled Windows Vista Ultimate, which i decided to delete (it
has 2 NTFS partitions). Then I create 2 partitions (sda0, sda1), and
while creating third partition i select type "dontuse" (i plan to
install NTFS with another Windows there). After I confirm this,
partition manager crashes (Only the child window with partition manager
stops responding, parent Installer window still works).

Problem is reproducible for me, email me for more specific info

[Bug 593304] Re: Segmentation fault when adding "favorite app"

2010-11-19 Thread vid
Running lucid, this bug still affects me with latest version from
repository. Any plans to release patch for 10.04?

If there is any info you need from me, let me know (preferably with
commands to obtain it, as I am still kinda newb to linux/ubuntu).

[Bug 1732409] [NEW] snap-confine has elevated permissions and is not confined but should be

2017-11-15 Thread d❤vid
Public bug reported:

Running snapd on PureOS 8.0 (rolling release ~= Debian main testing). A recent
update:
* upgraded to Linux kernel 4.13
* enabled AppArmor

Since then I can no longer `snap run packagename`. I get the following
error:

snap-confine has elevated permissions and is not confined but should be.
Refusing to continue to avoid permission escalation attacks

This has been reported on other non-Ubuntu distros:

* https://askubuntu.com/questions/888497
* https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/379421

Could this be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1682023 ?

Please advise if this should be addressed downstream.

[Bug 1732409] Re: snap-confine has elevated permissions and is not confined but should be

2017-11-15 Thread d❤vid
I did the following and I get the same error:

$ sudo apt purge snapd snap-confine && sudo apt install -y snapd
$ sudo snap install pycharm-community --classic
$ snap run pycharm-community
snap-confine has elevated permissions and is not confined but should be.
Refusing to continue to avoid permission escalation attacks

>From `sudo aa-status | grep snap`:

/usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine
/usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine//mount-namespace-capture-helper

Workaround:

* Navigate to /snap/APPNAME/current/
* Find launch binary
* Run the launch binary

[Bug 1575053] Re: Please move snap user data from "$HOME/snap" to "$HOME/.snap" (or to "$HOME/.local/share/snap" in accordance with the XDG spec)

2017-10-09 Thread d❤vid
Workaround while waiting for the rename:

Create a text file called ~/.hidden and put the word "snap" inside it.
"snap" will now be treated as a hidden folder by Nautilus.

When "~/snap" is automagically be moved to "~/.snap" or (hopefully)
"~/.local/share/snap" you won't even notice :)

[Bug 75850] Re: Pidgin should support OS keyrings

2014-01-02 Thread d❤vid seaward
There is a PPA for the above plugin at https://launchpad.net/~pidgin-
gnome-keyring/+archive/ppa

(Note that as of this posting the build is failing for Saucy and others,
but hopefully this will be sorted out soon.)

Also note that keyring-based password store is on the roadmap for Pidgin
3.0.0 (no planned release date yet). See

[Bug 1314587] Re: Windows slow/stall/freeze when minimizing/restoring/etc in Unity 7 14.04

2014-05-19 Thread d❤vid seaward
This issue seems to have improved, I presume with package updates since
it was first reported. Animations are generally no longer jerky. Soft
and hard reboot are generally no longer required. Keyboard Shortcuts
appear/disappear smoothly. Remaining problems:

 * Opening the Dash almost never works. Certainly not the first time or
after having other windows have been open for a while. It behaves almost
as though we have switch to the Dash pane, but it hasn't been rendered.
As a workaround, if I open Dash then trigger Guake, Dash appears (with
Guake behind it).

 * Closing or minimising windows generally works, except for the last
window. Closing or minimising the last window fails completely, or
starts the minimise animation but then halts. Either way, despite the
window remaining visible, it is no longer clickable.

[Bug 1321665] [NEW] Cannot upgrade examples on 14.04 due to dependency on qml-module-qt-labs-folderlistmodel

2014-05-21 Thread d❤vid seaward

What should happen:

Notes:

 * Inspecting the package in aptitude reveals: "Some dependencies of
