[Bug 313499] [NEW] e16 popups wrongly displayed in Ubuntu jaunty (dev)

2009-01-03 Thread Ulf Rehmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: e16

1. Release:
Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch)
Release:9.04

2. Package:
e160.16.8.14-1the Enlightenment Window Manager DR16

3. Expected behaviour:
If the cursor is on an activated Eterm or xterm window, no background
popup menu for mouse actions should occur.

4. Instead:
e16 background popup menus are displayed spontaneously
in Eterm windows and in xterm windows as it usually does only
 on the e16 desktop background.
This happens in Eterm and xterm windows, but not
in others like firefox windows or emacs windows.

This occurs under Ubuntu jaunty only and
(to my best knowledge) not in any earlier Ubuntu version.

** Affects: e16 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 700316] Re: usbserial stopped working during a recent upgrade, no serial line via usb anymore

2011-01-10 Thread Ulf Rehmann
The problem does also occur for this kernel:

linux-image-2.6.37-999-generic_2.6.37-999.201101071225_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.37-999_2.6.37-999.201101071225_all.deb
linux-headers-2.6.37-999-generic_2.6.37-999.201101071225_i386.deb

It did occur so far on 3 different machines. It did also occur under a
system installed on a USB stick and based on

1. Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition
2. Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook Edition.

However, an installation based on Ubuntu 10.10 Server edition is
operating correctly.

I did transfer the udev rules from a correctly working system to a not
correctly working system
but this did not change the malfunction.

[Bug 700316] Re: usbserial stopped working during a recent upgrade, no serial line via usb anymore

2011-01-11 Thread Ulf Rehmann
It turns out that the problem is an incompatibility with the packages

network-manager + network-manage-gnome

Whenever these are installed, usbserial becomes intransparent
(i.e., physical and logical devices are present, but there is no thoughput
through the serial interface).

After removal of these packages and after system restart the serial
interface works as it should.

Maybe this should be considered a bug of one of these packages.

[Bug 1247372] [NEW] Extension "Edit with Emacs" not working for chromium-browser (29.0.1547.65-0ubuntu2)

2013-11-02 Thread Ulf Rehmann
Public bug reported:

The "Edit with emacs" extension is not working for the package
chromium-browser (29.0.1547.65-0ubuntu2).

The "edit" button is not shown, and no contact to the edit server can
be obtained, despite the config test for the extension says so.

The same extension works well for the corresponding raring package of
chromium-browser (28.0.1500.71-0ubuntu1.13.04.1), and also for the
actual google-chrome.

[Bug 894553] Re: "Writing metadata to files..." never finishes

2012-09-04 Thread Ulf Rehmann
What is the state of this bug?

With a collection of more than 12000 photos, I am right now suffering
from this bug as well quite a bit.

If no fix is available yet, is there any workaround?

Thanks for any hint.

Thanks very much, that's great!

I installed on Ubuntu 12.04 after compiling from Quantal's 0.12.90
source tarball.

Works well and seems to prevent me from falling back to digikam...

[Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic GPU hangs

2013-03-28 Thread Ulf Rehmann
This kernel seems good for me. I have installed:
linux-headers-3.5.7-03050708
linux-headers-3.5.7-03050708-generic
linux-image-3.5.7-03050708-generic
linux-image-extra-3.5.7-03050708-generic

Now, since 15 hours, I have no GPU hung messages.

Before, with linux-image-3.5.0-26-generic, I usually got GPU hung messages
ca. 20 min after booting, the graphics console and Xorg were dead, and only
remote login
was possible.

The funny thing is: The problem only did happen for me on my Lenovo
X121e notebook.

The 3.5.0.26 kernel works well for me on a Dell notebook and on some
Asus eee 4GB PC.

Re: [Bug 700316] Re: usbserial stopped working during a recent upgrade, no serial line via usb anymore

2011-01-27 Thread Ulf Rehmann

I have double-checked my records:

My serial device stopped working for the first time (within years,
as recorded by minutely logs) after the reboot following an upgrade as
logged below in my /var/log/apt/history.

According to that log, in that upgrade, network-manager and
network-manager-gnome weren't involved.

But now, I can turn off/on the functionality of the serial device by
installing/removing network-manager (tested on various machines).

Yes, thanks, that works in my case after adding the following

to /lib/udev/rules.d/77-mm-usb-device-blacklist.rules :

# Prolific
ATTRS{idVendor}=="067b", ATTRS{idProduct}=="2303", ENV{ID_MM_DEVICE_IGNORE}="1"

How should I protect this against update replacements of that file?
