[Bug 415473] [NEW] Add/remove, update manager, computer janitor and more lock up the
Public bug reported: when I install Ubuntu 9.04 everything goes as expected on all the machines that I have tried 23 in all. But on three machines once installed the cursur is surrounded by a half inch square that is dark except for the cursur. I can click on the Applications, places and System and get the drop downs. When I click on any of the items in the dropdowns I get a white screen about the size of this box I am typing in and then the screen gets a smoky tint and nothing will work though you can see everything on the desktop. I can clear the problem back to where it started by clicking the Escape or enter key. I am a computer tech with ten years experience so I can tell you that the machines are working perfectly and others of the same type, speed, memory and hard drives had no problem with the same distro. If I am having problems there must be others who are installing Ubuntu and having the same problem and going back to Windows. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Add/remove, update manager, computer janitor and more lock up the https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 428036] Re: ubuntu 9.04 server guide error
Thanks for replying Alex. 1. pressing "Enter" does not cancel the operation it just does not go to the next operation. It goes to a blank screen and then back to the one I just click on. 2. The mouse does not work on this setup and there is no place to engage it. 3. I cannot attach any screen shots as I am setting this up on another computer but I can tell you that everything is set out as it should be from other setups I have seen. [Bug 428036] [NEW] ubuntu 9.04 server guide error
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs I followed the installation guide for the Ubuntu 9.04 server. I get to the Advanced Installation -Formatting and the [!!] Partition disks, where I am suppose to "sellect the RAID 1 Device #0 partition" , then Choose "Use as:". Except when I hit enter it goes no where but right back to the high lighted "RAID1 device #0". I have tried this four times on two different sets of two HDD's and have the same problem. Thanks for any help. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ubuntu 9.04 server guide error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/428036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 447578] [NEW] ubunu 9.04 server and desktop problimatic with HP & Compaq.
Public bug reported: I have loaded Ubuntu 9.04 on 20 machines with no problem. On five machines though, a Compaq running at 100 MHz, two HP's running at 500 MHz and 1.2 GHz and two other HP's respectively the loading is normal. When I try to click on the Add/Remove, the computer janitor or the update manager the screen gets a large white rectangle about 2 by 3 inches and then the screen goes dark. You can still see things on the desktop as though looking through a smoked glass and the cursor does not work. If you click the Esc or Enter keys it puts the desktop back before clicking on the Add/Remove etc. I am a computer tech with ten years experience and know that the machines are running perfectly and can find no reason for the problem. I tried some suggestions that I got here after the first two machines had the problem, but five means that there are others out there with the same problem and there has to be a logical answer to it. I have tried loading Ubuntu 9.04 server on three different HP computers that meet the requirements and all get to "Select & Install Software" and stop at "Installation Step Failed. I have read other reports and tried each of their suggestion but nothing works. Come on, there must be a solution to both of these problems. If the answer is don't use HP or Compaq then others should be told. Thanks. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ubunu 9.04 server and desktop problimatic with HP & Compaq. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447578 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
