[Bug 536832] Re: Setting compose key as 'right CTRL' traps cursor in VirtualBox

2010-03-17 Thread Ramón Rocha
Hi Andreas,

Maybe it is not technically possible with the current way the compose
key is implemented but I was expecting virtualbox to release the cursor
from the virtual machine when pressing right CTRL.

I would not expect that setting this key as the compose key would block
other applications from detecting that the key had been pressed.

Also, it is the host OS that is configured to use right CTRL as the
compose key and not the guest OS.

[Bug 459499] Re: Microphone does not work on Acer Aspire 5050

2010-03-30 Thread Ramón Rocha
Thanks for the response, Daniel. I set the values as you described and
tried all three input sources but it still doesn't want to record.

What's weird is that the checkbox test never finishes and I have to kill
the gst_pipeline_test process manually. When using Sound Recorder, I
hit the record button and the Play button immediately becomes enabled
but the Stop button remains disabled. A sound file is never generated.
Could the bug be in a different package maybe?

[Bug 527428] Re: There is no way to rotate a display using nvidia proprietary drivers

2010-05-29 Thread Ramón Rocha
Nee700, this bug was submitted during the round of testing for the
nvidia and ati propiertary drivers on lucid. The test case said to
expect a failure of xrandr when attempting to rotate the screen and to
use the nvidia GUI configuration tool instead. However, the GUI config
tool has no option to rotate. Hence my confusion on whether or not this
bug was a duplicate to begin with.

If you think it is more clear to switch the duplicate status than please
do so.  Thanks.

[Bug 874041] Re: Most panel menus won't stay open after clicking them on one monitor of a dual monitor set up.

2011-10-14 Thread Ramón Rocha
I just noticed an interesting behavior: If a menu won't stay open on
one monitor, try to open the same menu on the other monitor and it will
stay open as expected. Also, it's not just system menus that are
affected. Application menus are affected as well but they might be
working correctly one monitor but not the other.

[Bug 739891] [NEW] Natty installer crashed. Dialogue window instructed me to report this bug.

2011-03-21 Thread Ramón Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

While attempting to get my system setup for testing the NVIDIA
proprietary drivers, the installer crashed and displayed a window
instructing me to file this bug. Here is the window contents...

"We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a new bug report at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug (do not attach
your details to any existing bug) and a developer will attend to the
problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went
wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the
files /var/log/syslog and var/log/partman:"

Then it just has a Close button. I then entered a live session. This
was from the 3/21 daily live image. Attached are the requested files.

[Bug 527428] Re: There is no way to rotate a display using nvidia proprietary drivers

2011-04-01 Thread Ramón Rocha
I just tested this again in natty.

I can confirm that adding the "RandRRotation" option to the xorg.conf
file manually makes the setting appear in the nvidia config tool.
However, when you try to rotate the monitor it crashes and this is
displayed on the terminal:

The program 'nvidia-settings' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 314 error_code 2 request_code 154 minor_code 2)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 747614] [NEW] Maximized windows do not scale correctly with Unity and TwinView

2011-04-01 Thread Ramón Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Normally, a maximized window on TwinView just maximizes on one monitor.
On Natty, with two monitors and nvidia TwinView, a maximized window will
cover one entire monitor and part of the second monitor or sometimes
part of the window will be off the screen depending on the layout of the
monitors  This is confusing.

[Bug 393727] Re: Pictures folder: --location requires absolute path

2011-01-06 Thread Ramón Rocha
I don't know how to make a patch but if you change this "if" statement
around line 100 in savers/slideshow.c from

if (location != NULL) {
g_object_set (engine, "images-location", location, NULL);
}

to something like

if (location != NULL) {
wordexp_t expanded_location;
wordexp(location, &expanded_location, 0);
location = expanded_location.we_wordv[0];
g_object_set (engine, "images-location", location, NULL);
}

and #include it will expand ~/Pictures correctly

[Bug 747614] Re: Maximized windows do not scale correctly with Unity and TwinView

2011-04-07 Thread Ramón Rocha
I'm not sure what other info I can add besides what's included in the
attached log files. The left monitor is 1280 x 1024 and the right
monitor is 1920 x 1080. If there is something specific needed then I
can provide it.

When I attempted to maximize on the left monitor, a portion of the
window overlapped onto the right monitor. See previously attached
screenshot.

I will try to reproduce the issue when the tracker at xorg.qa.ubuntu.com
resets for week 4 testing.

[Bug 638674] Re: kern.log and syslog are spammed with "ieee80211_tx_status: headroom too small"

2010-09-21 Thread Ramón Rocha
Jeremy,

I am not in a position right now where I can make this computer
potentially unstable. I consider it a "production" machine even if it's
just a home server. Right now, everything is working. I'm just having
to keep an eye on disk space as the log files grow.

Is testing the upstream kernel the only way to move this issue towards a
resolution? Is there any way to determine if the two patches I
mentioned in the bug description have made their way into the Ubuntu
kernel?
