[Bug 1622880] Re: nautilus crashes on Ubuntu 16.10

2016-10-11 Thread Oliver Smith
This happened for me after an update from Ubuntu Gnome 16.04.

I fixed it by:

* Purging nautilus with apt-get
* Removing ~/.config/nautilus

I suspect the last step may fix it alone but I've not been able to
recreate the initial issue to verify.

[Bug 828593] Re: Gwibber window scrolls too fast when using the scrollbar

2011-10-07 Thread Oliver Smith
I also agree with Pete.
I love how Gwibber works - but the scrolling makes it too difficult to use.
Especially for new Ubuntu users.

[Bug 734595] Re: Launcher should be clickable when mouse over menu button

2011-03-31 Thread Oliver Smith
Not sure if this is of any help; but here goes:
Only when you hover over the top left hand corner of the menu button does the
launcher become fully opaque and "usable".
It is quite confusing to see a semi transparent launcher which has no real use,
except maybe to see which applications are running.

What makes me think that this is more a defect than per design is the
fact that when you hover out from the top left corner of the menu button
to the right hand corner, it does not lose opacity.

[Bug 2061118] [NEW] Noble black-screen freezes in VMWare Workstation Player on Windows

2024-04-12 Thread Oliver Smith
Public bug reported:

Build: Noble Daily Current from 12th April

Host OS: Windows 11

VM App: VMWare Workstation 17 Player

Issue: During installation there is continuous black flickering
artefacts throughout the flow. Installation completed successfully, got
to GDM, logged in but desktop screen is black and then locks up the
whole application, cannot shutdown or interact with Player and need to
hard kill from task manager.

The issue appears does not appear with Mantic with the exact same
machine configuration and appears to be an issue with GPU, my host
machine is running an NVIDIA 4070ti with the latest windows drivers.

On reboot some elements of the desktop are visible but cannot be
interacted with without further lockups.

[Bug 2061118] Re: Rendering issues in vmware with 3d on (GTK ngl backend)

2024-04-17 Thread Oliver Smith
My issue is compounded by the fact that Ubuntu registers no network
interfaces in Ubuntu on vmwareplayer in NAT mode and it sees a
connection but can't connect in bridged mode. As a result I can't apply
updates on install or upgrade my NVIDIA drivers which may help resolve
the issue. I will try again with the newer NVIDIA drivers in the next
daily.

[Bug 1947627] [NEW] Sound > Output Device selection reverts to default after resuming from sleepng from

2021-10-18 Thread Oliver Smith
Public bug reported:

My Dell XPS 13 is connected to a Lenovo Thinkpad docking station.

By default the audio output is selected as the audio out from the
docking station.

I manually select the output device to be the XPS speakers.

After going into standby/suspend mode the audio output reverts to the
docking station audio out.

Expected behaviour: The selected audio output device settings would be
persistent across standby/suspend.

Potentially this may be expected to be persistent across power off/on or
disconnect/reconnect as other settings (eg number of displays, order and
orientation) are maintained.

[Bug 1969652] [NEW] 22.04 LTS Desktop Daily Builds hang on the Plymouth Screen with VirtualBox on Windows

2022-04-20 Thread Oliver Smith
Public bug reported:

In Virtual Box (running on Windows 11) the Plymouth screen hangs
(spinner disappears, screen frozen) when running the 22.04 LTS daily
build (this occurs across multiple daily builds) for the first time
(booting from the ISO).

On occasion it is possible to progress and complete an install of 22.04,
however upon reboot the same issue occurs.

Same issues is currently present on the default 21.10 image but not on
the default 20.04 image.

Issue has been replicated by Ken VanDine on Windows 10 with and without
Hypervisor enabled- but the issue mostly arises during a reboot after
install in that instance.
