[Bug 974151] [NEW] Clickpad right click HP tm 2

2012-04-05 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

The (hardware-) right click isn't working instead it performs a left click. I
can't turn my touchpad off by doubletapping the LED.
I'm using a HP-Touchsmart 2.

Against other bug-reports, i'm able to drag & drop.
With Ubuntu 11.10 i could tab 3 fingers (which did a middle-click), this is
also disabled.

[Bug 974393] [NEW] Unity behind windows (Z-Index/Z-Order problem)

2012-04-05 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

After Login, there sometimes is a problem with Unity (= Dash + Launcher
+ HUD), where Unity appears to have the false Z-Order/Z-Index.

In this cases i can't realy access Unity, with maximized programs.
Sometimes normal (=not maximized) windows appear in front of the Dash or
Launcher (see the screenshot).

This typically is just after the Login. After i somehow fixed it
(clicking Workspace-Switcher or pinning a window to the Front), the
problem stays fixed for this (X-Server-) session.

[Bug 970724] Re: unmet dependencies: ia32-libs-multiarch

2012-04-07 Thread Octavian
The problem is still the same...
I've tried manually to installing ia32-libs-multiarch [wich still isn't shown
in synaptics]

seems like "librtmp0:i386" is my personal devil...

> I don't believe Synaptics has been made multiarch-aware.
Synaptics shows me some (maybe not all?!) packages with the prefix ":i386".

PS: I've tried to install ia32-libs a few (2 or more) times a day (since
2012-04-01). I don't think, i can have this much bad luck to strike a
"out of sync" every time... [I hope so]

2012-04-08 Thread Octavian
Hm, i've purged (ppa-purge) every ppa i had enabled...
I even reinstalled librtmp0 (apt-get install --reinstall)

However your mentioned fix did work.

For everyone who stumbles to this topic viea websearch:
sudo apt-get install ibrtmp0/precise
solved the problem.

[Bug 993108] Re: no Apply-Button in gnome-control-center (display) at Resolution 640x480

2012-05-04 Thread Octavian
Maybe I just got you wrong but my problem was:
Step 1: I start a game (Braid as an example), the game is configured to use
640x480px - fullscreen-resolution.
Step 2: I exit the game.
Step 3: I now have a Unity- or GnomeShell-Desktop with an resolution of 640x480
px.
Step 4: I want to change to my native resolution (1024x768px or whatever it was
before).
At Step 4 a "normal" user fails because he can't access the "Apply"-Button of
the Settings-Window. (See posting #1 for Details)

My interpretation of your answer:
"There is a User who would like to configure a resolution lower than 640x480px
(for example 320x240px). This dosn't make sense."
--> I agree with you in this point.

"I can't find the number now"
--> I've searched launchpad too (before i opened this bugreport). I haven't
found anything about this topic.

[Bug 702452] Re: [launcher] Wine applications are wrongly matched

2013-01-16 Thread Octavian
This is a bug in Unity, not Wine. I added wine recently ( #30 )
The guys developing wine are able to produce a workaround.

The main-problem however still remains. This can only be fixed in
Unity/Compiz whatever.

But since Canonical isn't about to fix theire bugs i opened the
bugreport at winehq and had to link it here.

[Bug 822144] Re: Touchpad with integrated click buttons: right button missing, both mouse buttons act as left

2011-09-28 Thread Octavian
I have the exact same problem here. I also installed Ubuntu 11.10 (i
used the "Beta 1 LiveCD" but my packages are all up to date at the
moment)

I'll try to attatch the log-files too... (launchpad is a bit confusing)

PS: this bug affects all Ubuntu-Version. If i use the "PS2 Driver" the
rightclicking part works just fine. But i didn't get the
(multitouch)-scrolling to work.

But this bug appears to have solved itself... (I thought, i had put the

[Bug 870067] Re: Sound stops working after re-login

2011-10-07 Thread Octavian
I've Edited these Infos into my Main-Post (I'm posting here, just to
keep a history):

I can't logout after this problem (using Gnome-Shell 3.2)
I can't use [Alt] + [Print] + [K] to restart my X-Server (it only gives me some
Whitescreen with fragments)
The Gnome-Volume-Control-Apllet is disappearing after a undefined timespan.
My Gnome-Settings-Manager says, I'm using "Graphics-rasteryzer" (Or something
similar) [Before the crash, I'm using "Gallium"]

** Description changed:

  [Edit: more information]
PS. I can't logout after this problem (using Gnome-Shell 3.2)
I can't use [Alt] + [Print] + [K] to restart my X-Server (it only gives me
some Whitescreen with fragments)
The Gnome-Volume-Control-Apllet is disappearing after a undefined timespan.
My Gnome-Settings-Manager says, I'm using "Graphics-rasteryzer" (Or something
similar) [Before the crash, I'm using "Gallium"]
+
+ Some thoughts: it didn't happen yesterday.
+ I've only installed apache2, php, php-gd, mysql, phpmyadmin
+ And made a update. (apt-get update) since yesterday.

[Bug 1056105] [NEW] Linux Kernel 3.5.0-15.23 crash at boot [possible brcm80211?] - Regression

2012-09-25 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Kernel "3.5.0-15.23" my linux keeps crashing at boot.
Kernel 3.5.0-14 isn't crashing.

I think my Broadcom-Wireless-Card could be the problem?

2012-09-25 Thread Octavian
After installing this mainline-kernel, this bug didn't happen again. I tested
all 3 Kernels:
3.5.0-15.23
3.5.0-14
3.6.0-030600rc7

This bug seems to be solved somehow?

>= 3.0.5.15

My Wacom seems to sit at another bus than @anton-anakin? Is this
possible causing this bug for him?

[Bug 1060469] [NEW] indicator-messages does not show any chat-application

2012-10-02 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

Short story:
How to get the bug: I don't know, at my System this indicator was broken since
upgrading from Ubuntu 12.04.
What happens: indicator-messages dosn't show chat-related stuff (see below for
details)
What is expected: Entrys for "Pidgin", "Empathy", "Skype"(via skype-wrapper),
Status-Options("Online", "Away", "Hidden",...)

Long story:
On my System "indicator-messages" dosn't show any chat-application (even if
they're running).
It is like this since i upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04.
I installed Pidgin, Empathy and Skype (+skype-wrapper), they're not shown. Nor
dos indicator-messages show me options to switch my status (e.g. "Hidden",
"Away", "Available")

I attached a screenshot. In this screenshot i opened indicator-message
and had pidgin running. There is no entry for pidgin nor an entry to set
my status.

The "Enevelope-Menu" in Unity only shows me Gwibber and Thunderbird.
Those two entries are working well (they're showing unread mail-counts
and such)

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1040259

I think this bug is a duplicate of Bug #1040259 I opened another
Bugreport and got pointed to this bug.

There were some changes in "[...]We've changed the way applications talk to the
messaging menu[...]" see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-messages/+bug/1060469/comments/2

If anyone thinks, this bug is no duplicate just remove the duplicate-
info or reply here, so i can do this.

Hi Lars,

I agree with you in all points (however Empathy shouldn't start in
"normal"-mode if it is in unity, but thats another story/bug-report)

[Bug 1062077] [NEW] Linux hangs with: "[drm:atom_op_jump] *ERROR* atombios stuck in loop for more than 5secs aborting"

2012-10-05 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

Symptom: Linux isn't displaying changes after switching to tty1 and back
to unity

Steps to reproduce:
1. Starting up to Unity
2. Switch to tty1 (Strg + Alt + F1)
3. Switching back to Unity

What happens:
The screen freezes. Magic Keys [Alt + Print + S/U/B] are working thou (so
linux-kernel is responding?!) I can't switch to tty1 either.

What is expected:
Showing up a responding Unity.

[Bug 1056105] Linux Kernel 3.6.0-030600rc7 crash at boot - brcms_c_wait_for_tx_completion

2012-09-26 Thread Octavian
2.
Linux Kernel keeps crashing for me at boot. This happens after switching
WiFi status by hardware-switching it off and on (and off, ...) at my HP-tm2
This Bug is reproduce-able and i can "fix" it by completely powering off
my notebook and wait a few seconds (no power cable, no battery)

I also reported this bug at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1056105

Sorry, i followed Ubuntus "How to report a kernel-bug" wiki-page. "1."
would have been the E-Mail title.

Steps to reproduce this bug at my machine:
1. Switching off and on WLan by Hardware-Button (It is a WiFi "Button",
My Network-Manager says "Hardware switched off by Hardware-Switch" [so i
think its a soft-key?!])
2. RFkilling WLan

This bug doesn't seem to disappear if I "un-RFKill" my WLan [and reboot].
I have to power off my Notebook completly to "cure" this bug

2012-10-05 Thread Octavian
Seems like my Notebook is slowly breaking...
I think this bug is a hardware-bug because it is so inconsistent (i tried last
10 Minutes to provoce this bug, but it didn't come back)

So I marked this bug as Invalid.

[Bug 993108] [NEW] no Apply-Button in gnome-control-center (display) at Resolution 640x480

2012-05-02 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

If your Monitor falls back to a resolution of 640x480 (Due to a crash of
a fullscreen-game), you can't use the Display of "gnome-control-center"
because the window is taller than 480px. You can't resize the window
either. so you have no chance to click the "Apply" button with your
mouse.

To see it your self, you have to put your Resolution down to 640x480 and
try to reset it to a higher Resolution.

Work around: press [Alt] + [A] (English) or [Alt] + [W] (German) to apply your
settings without clicking the Button.
Work around2: hold [Alt] and drag the Window at it's center. You can drag it
high enough to actually click "Apply".

A few other screenshots I just took

It seems like maximized windows are effected every time, "normal"
windows are just affected sometimes (eg. I had to restart X serveral
times to reproduce the "unity behind normal"-screenshot)

[Bug 1010683] [NEW] ATI Resume from Suspend leads into black screen (VGA_Switcheroo)

2012-06-08 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

I have a HP Touchsmart 2 (tm2).
This Notebook has 2 Graphiccars: Intel (DIS) and ATI (IGD):
# lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI
Manhattan [Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series]

If i use the Intel-Graphiccard, everything works well, i can suspend and resume
as often as i'd like.
If i use the ATI-Graphiccard i can suspend (wich takes a longer time than with
the Intel one) however I can't resume. I get a blank/black screen and can't
change brightness. Plus I can't switch to any tty.

I've tried this instructions to find an error:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend
but it dosn't seem to bring relevant informations (however, I'll add the
dmesg.txt to this bugreport)

PS: to switch between graphiccards, I use "vga_switcheroo" and i have
"vanilla"-ubuntu, no third party software.

[Bug 913368] [NEW] Suspend to Ram(S3)-wakeup leaves a Black screen

2012-01-08 Thread Octavian

if i suspend using the Intel GPU, everything works just fine.
If i switch to the ATI GPU, I dont get any reactions after waking the system.

[Bug 909211] Re: Pulseaudio dies on Volumechange

2011-12-27 Thread Octavian
** Attachment added: "output of "pulseaudio -k; sleep 4; pulseaudio -vv""

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/909211/+attachment/2648687/+files/Pulseaudio-vvv.txt

** Description changed:

+ Pulseaudio crashes, when I change Volum from low to mute several times.
+ (low means ca. 10%... there are no sound outputs, when volume is "low")
+
+
  I'm using Gnome3, volume-applet to control pulseaudio.

I've used "pulseaudio -k; sleep 4; pulseaudio -vv" to monitor the
output. (there is only the "Crash-part" in the attached file.)

Btw. is there a better way to reconnect flash with pulseaudio than to kill
(and restart) it?
All mediaplayer and even firefox itself dos reconnect to a new pulseaudio
demon.

[Bug 909211] [NEW] Pulseaudio dies on Volumechange

2011-12-27 Thread Octavian
Public bug reported:

Pulseaudio crashes, when I change Volum from low to mute several times.
(low means ca. 10%... there are no sound outputs, when volume is "low")

I'm using Gnome3, volume-applet to control pulseaudio.

I've used "pulseaudio -k; sleep 4; pulseaudio -vv" to monitor the
output. (there is only the "Crash-part" in the attached file.)

Btw. is there a better way to reconnect flash with pulseaudio than to kill (and
restart) it?
All mediaplayer and even firefox itself dos reconnect to a new pulseaudio demon.

[Bug 1062077] Re: Linux hangs with: "[drm:atom_op_jump] *ERROR* atombios stuck in loop for more than 5secs aborting"

2013-01-03 Thread Octavian
** Description changed:

Symptom: Linux isn't displaying changes after switching to tty1 and back
  to unity

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Starting up to Unity
  2. Switch to tty1 (Strg + Alt + F1)
  3. Switching back to Unity

  or:
- Resuming the system from suspend leads to the same isssue.
+ Resuming the system from suspend leads to the same isssue. This method isn't
as reliable as the method stated above

  What happens:
The screen freezes. Magic Keys [Alt + Print + S/U/B] are working thou (so
linux-kernel is responding?!) I can't switch to tty1 either. The system becomes
responding again after ~2min. Switching VTs is possible afterwards but leads to
the same bug again.

  What is expected:
  Showing up a responding Unity.
+
+ Interesting Sitenote:
+ My radeon is switched off using:
echo"OFF">/sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch
+ By turning "ON" the graphiccard the above stated problem doesn't appear.

[Bug 1010683] Re: ATI Resume from Suspend leads into black screen (VGA_Switcheroo)

2012-07-06 Thread Octavian
Since i can't switch to tty either (which isn't controlled by XOrg), i
added "Linux" to the Bug-Targets.

** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #42162
   https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42162

** Also affects: linux via

   Importance: Unknown
   Status: Unknown

** Description changed:

  I have a HP Touchsmart 2 (tm2).
This Notebook has 2 Graphiccars: Intel (DIS) and ATI (IGD):
  # lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI
Manhattan [Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series]

If i use the Intel-Graphiccard, everything works well, i can suspend and
resume as often as i'd like.
+ Edit: As soon as I switched (switch to ATI and back to Intel, the below
problem happens on Intel-GPU too).
If i use the ATI-Graphiccard i can suspend (wich takes a longer time than
with the Intel one) however I can't resume. I get a blank/black screen and
can't change brightness. Plus I can't switch to any tty.

I've tried this instructions to find an error:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend
but it dosn't seem to bring relevant informations (however, I'll add the
dmesg.txt to this bugreport)

PS: to switch between graphiccards, I use "vga_switcheroo" and i have
  "vanilla"-ubuntu, no third party software.

crashed in "ubuntu classic (no effects)" as well which I find weird. Was
using terminal programs and a firefox at the time so it shouldn't
stress the GPU much.

[Bug 365702] Re: Installer fails to format partition

2009-04-27 Thread Octavian Voicu
I tried to run the installer in debug mode and reproduce the problem but
looks like this time it worked (conditions were not identical, but I
thought the bug would show up again; guess the problem is a bit more
complex).

[Bug 365702] [NEW] Installer fails to format partition

2009-04-23 Thread Octavian Voicu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I booted from the newly released Kubuntu 9.04 Desktop amd64 iso and chose the
install option.
When asked about partitions, I chose the manual / advanced option.

I have a scsi drive and I already had 2 ntfs partitions (sda1 and sda5) + 20 gb
free space at the end.
I made two more partitions in the free space, sda6 as ext4 and sda7 as swap
(2gb) and I chose to format the ext4 partition.

After hitting next, the installer worked a bit then told me it can't
format the ext4 partition and jumped back to the time zone selection
page.

Tried again (partitions sda6 & sda7 were already there this time) and got the
same error.
Extract from /var/log/messages:

Apr 23 20:12:54 ubuntu ubiquity[9388]: switched to page stepReady
Apr 23 20:13:20 ubuntu kernel: [ 2029.196034] CE: hpet increasing min_delta_ns

pc105 -layout us -variant altgr-intl -option
Apr 23 20:14:37 ubuntu ubiquity[9388]: switched to page stepKeyboardConf

I managed to complete the installation by manually creating devices /dev/sda6
and /dev/sda7 before hitting next (I checked and I only had /dev/sda /dev/sda1
/dev/sda2 /dev/sda5, sda2 being the logical partition windows makes):
mknod /dev/sda6 b 8 6
mknod /dev/sda7 b 8 7

I am guessing the installer won't automatically create the device files
in /dev after creating the partitions, so it can't format them.

[Bug 338469] Re: [Jaunty] usplash: no usable theme found for 1600x1200

2009-03-06 Thread Octavian Florea
I experience this problem as well, on two systems with fairly different setups.
It only started after yesterday's updates, and it is not kernel-related, as I
use a vanilla 2.6.29-rc7.

[Bug 546607] Re: KPackageKit gives error after recent upgrade

2010-05-02 Thread Octavian Voicu
The bug is in /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/apt/aptBackend.py, line
1498. In case of an error, format_string is used to display a message
but error.message is not a string but an exceptions.SystemError object.

Attached patch should fix this (packagekit-backend-apt.patch).

There is also a related bug in
/usr/share/pyshared/packagekit/backend.py, in function format_string.
When called with a non-unicode parameter, it should convert it to
unicode but doesn't because of a typo.

I'll attach another patch for this (python-packagekit.patch).

[Bug 546607] Re: KPackageKit gives error after recent upgrade

2010-05-07 Thread Octavian Voicu
Btw, the bug is triggered by any error while downloading sources (for
example, a HTTP 404 error caused by an invalid repository).

Can someone test the patches / integrate them into the right tree?

Thanks

[Bug 546607] Re: KPackageKit gives error after recent upgrade

2010-05-10 Thread Octavian Voicu
I'm not very sure, but I think the update process is not really affected
by the bug. The package index might be refreshed before the bug is
triggered, so in this case you could update the packages (maybe restart
KPackageKit and see if the updates are there).

If this doesn't work, open a terminal and type: sudo apt-get update

This will update the package index manually and after that you should be
able to install the updates from KPackageKit, or via command line: sudo
apt-get upgrade

Also, you might wanna look at the output of command `sudo apt-get
update' and see which sources give errors (for example 404 errors), and
disable those sources in KPackageKit -> Settings -> Edit Software
Sources. Disabling the source that was giving errors will make
KPackageKit work again, even without the bug fix.

[Bug 508940] Re: KNetworkManager installation misconfigured

2010-01-28 Thread Octavian Voicu
It seems that the crash is not related to dbus nor the bug that was
reported. I consistently get the same crash *every time* I log off. I'm
running Kubuntu 9.10 and this started happening after I installed all
the upgrades from the Kubuntu PPA Beta repo.

I have KNetworkManager running with wireless disabled and an active
ethernet connection.

Here is the crash log (this happens after I give the log out command;
there's no time to report the bug as the bug report window automatically
closes, I just have enough time to save the report):

[Bug 930745] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2012-02-13 Thread Octavian Damiean
I'd like to add some extra information. On that Thinkpad I don't have an
integrated Bluetooth adapter which is the reason why I use a Delock
Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR USB adapter. [1]

[1]:
http://www.delock.com/produkte/gruppen/bluetooth+produkte/Delock_Adapter_USB_20_Bluetooth_V21_+_EDR_61746.html

** Description changed:

To be honest I have no idea what exactly might have caused this crash.

I've bought an Apple Magic Trackpad and have been using it for about two
hours when suddenly everything froze. After a couple of seconds the
  login screen appeared.

  Steps to reproduce:
- unknown
+ 1. Touch the Magic Trackpad with three or more fingers
+ 2. Click on the Bluetooth indicator
+ 3. In the "Apple Wireless Trackpad" submenu select "Disconnect"
+
+ I can reproduce that behavior every time using the steps above.

If I can help or add more information somehow just tell me.

2013-02-22 Thread Octavian Damiean
Public bug reported:

On the Nexus 7 (grouper) Ubuntu Touch developer preview the on-screen
keyboard won't hide after locking and unlocking the device once it was
visible.

If you type on the on-screen keyboard while in the lock screen, it will
register what you typed on the open note in the background.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the Notepad demo application

3. Press the power button on the device
4. Press the power button again

Expected behavior:

[Bug 1142044] [NEW] Unable to log in because of "missing" unity-greeter

2013-03-03 Thread Octavian Damiean
Public bug reported:

I'm not quite sure if the title is right because unity-greeter is there
but the interface doesn't appear sometimes.

Basically, I press the power button on my Samsung Series 9 notebook, get
a short purple flash and then a black screen with a cursor blinking in
the top left part of the screen and a moveable mouse cursor.

Roughly I'd say that I need 5 to 6 attempts to boot. I've seen some very
weird log messages in /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log unfortunately I
managed to boot without any issues right now. Next time it does that
I'll save the logs and upload them to this bug report.

[Bug 1142044] Re: Unable to log in because of "missing" unity-greeter

2013-03-03 Thread Octavian Damiean
** Attachment added: "x-0.log"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/1142044/+attachment/3554913/+files/x-0.log

** Description changed:

I'm not quite sure if the title is right because unity-greeter is there
but the interface doesn't appear sometimes.

Basically, I press the power button on my Samsung Series 9 notebook, get
a short purple flash and then a black screen with a cursor blinking in
the top left part of the screen and a moveable mouse cursor.

Roughly I'd say that I need 5 to 6 attempts to boot. I've seen some very
- weird log messages in /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log unfortunately I
- managed to boot without any issues right now. Next time it does that
- I'll save the logs and upload them to this bug report.
+ weird log messages in /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log
+
+ Added logs to bug report.
+
+ It seems like it would try to automatically authenticate but fails. It
+ shouldn't try to auto-login though.

  Steps to reproduce:
  Unknown yet

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04
  Package: unity-greeter 13.04.1-0ubuntu2

Set my account to auto-login but that didn't change anything.

I should probably also add that a normal boot to unity-greeter would
take about 7 seconds.
