Hi, Yes I confirm. Installed Jaunty a couple of days ago and had to go thru a set of instructions to do a workaround regarding the PCMCIA Linksys card that uses that chip; only after that workaround I was able to connect to a wi-fi network. The last three releases I had to use this set of instructions: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty_No-Fluff . For Jaunty I had to do the "hard bug fix" because - "If you type in lshw -C network you might "module=ssb" instead of "module=ndiswrapper" This is because Hardy has a module loading bug that takes control away from ndiswrapper." Don't get me wrong. I love linux and I love Ubuntu and Canonical. However, i'm not complaining about the existance of the bug. I'm complaining about Kubuntu Team politics. I can't accept they released a distro with such a well known bug. It means not being serious and I don't like this. The philosophy that "it's free, it's gratis" doesn't hold. So I had the freeze bug several times after upgrading from Ubuntu 8 to 9 (compiz and screen effects enabled). I used an own customized xorg.conf, so it was not upgraded automatically. Found the workarounds here and set virtual size to 2560x2048, MigrationHeuristic to greedy and AccelMethod to EXA in xorg.conf Works without any freezes now for the last 10 days, so this seems to fix it. I can only give a -1000 points to kubuntu team. Where do they find the courage to release a distro with such high severe bug? I want to know who is going to tell my brother he has to use windows because "linux" can't find his hidden essid. What a shame. Since I hate gnome, and since Kubuntu seems to be full of these "stupid for year 2009" bugs, what should I do? Switch to Windows? Then people complain about Microsoft. No way, it's time to complain about people releasing a linux distro with a well known bug. This sucks, totally. Not to mention the ATI known bugs. I mean, if you know about these severe bugs, DON'T do the release. Is someone forcing you guys? I'm hating all this and sometimes I prefer using and paying Windows with an antivirus rather than booting an OS that is uncapable of connecting to the internet. 4) Nothing. I need to reboot manualy and select recovery version via
grub. Then I selected the first option of the recovery menu ('resue' I
think). After a few seconds, the system loading is done, hte screen
turns black (like when it loads the login window, but without a
'waiting' mouse). Then a error window appears telling me that the X
serveur doesn't load successfully.
The log is (only the part with errors) :

I cannot try fglrx : he cannot find the driver (the packet couldn't be installed because missing some packets). With the vesa driver the screens come but with the wrong resolution (no 1440x900 yet, ok). I'll try. I reinstall the package (I doesn't need it so I remove it). When it crashed last time I doesn't change any setting before closing and had launched ubuntustudio-controls from gnome-control-center. Now, I started directly gnome-control-center via the terminal (sudo gnome-control-center). I'm afread that adding the samba schema to the slapd.conf file was not enough in my case. The documentation (slapd 2.4.11) states that the slapd daemon will by default use the folder "/etc/ldap/slapd.d", even if there is such a config file (which is the default config file name and location). This folder is created during the installation. So any change in the config file is not picked up. To come around this I started the slapd daemon manually with the commandline option "-f /etc/ldap/slapd.conf" added. so it looks like this: "/usr/sbin/slapd -u openldap -h ldap://0.0.0.0 -d 255 -f /etc/ldap/slapd.conf". all as expected.
Then I export an PDF file with standard settings. In this PDF file the
text before the special char ("Blattl") is written correctly. The
special char itself and the following chars are written on a new
vertical line, right to the "Blattl".

i start kubuntu from cd and i started the installation wizard, i choose
italian, i compiled the all form and i selected manual partitioning, i selected
the hardrive of 850 mb and i start install. All go fine until the process
arrive at 47 %. THe cd-rom stop reading and the hardrive read or write at
regular interval. 10 seconds later a message appear saiyng that the

[Bug 132372] Submenus of context (right-click) menus don't work
Public bug reported: In right-click menus, sub menus (eg the Create Document menu on the Desktop context menu) display fine, but when I primary(left) click on the entries, the menu disappears, but nothing happens. However, if I secondary(right) click on the entries, everything works: the menu disappears and the action occurs. Entries not in a sub menu (e.g. Change Desktop Background in the desktop context menu) work perfectly fine. This happens in all GTK apps I've tried it in so far. Not sure about kde/qt apps as I don't have any kde apps installed. Interestingly though, the move to another workspace sub menu on the window list context menu is not affected. I thought the problem was compiz fusion at first, but disabling it doesn't change anything. I also tried restarting X and logging in to gnome with compiz disabled, but the bug persists. The system is an up to date gutsy install. It's an upgrade from feisty. I created another user account and the problem occurs in that account as well. Same problem on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V3205 with iwl3945 drivers. The wireless module works fine, but the status stays off (no light or blink).
