[Bug 2079962] Re: shim-signed 1.51.4+15.8-0ubuntu1 failed to install

2024-09-19 Thread Marcel Gast
Sorry for the late reply. I missed the mail that someone had commented
on this topic. I checked all PCs and only one of them got a new hard
drive. The data was copied with dd. I can't deny that this is a
duplicate of the bug you mentioned. It is quite similar.

To pick up on some of the information mentioned in the other bug report:

I am dealing with physical PCs.
All of them have an nvme disk installed.
None of the PCs report SMART errors for the disk.

However, comment #21 [ 1 ] also solved my problem. I tried something
similar at the time but it didn't work.

Thank you very much for your help.

Cheers,
Marcel

[Bug 2087935] Re: DeprecationWarning for multi-threaded fork() under Python 3.12

2025-03-21 Thread Marcel Gast
This bug also affects us on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS.

When I run unattended-upgrade in debug mode, this error message appears
after the packages have been downloaded, after the message “dpkg is
configured not to cause conffile prompts” before the program starts
installing the updates.

Debian seems to be discussing the bug at this address:

[Bug 1973321] Re: snaps don't start when current working directory is on a remote FS (sshfs, NFS)

2025-05-09 Thread Marcel Gast
I have now stumbled across this bug again. In addition to the
“root_squash” option for nfs, as long as NFSv4 with sec=krb5 is not
enabled, we were able to start it successfully by setting the home
folder to g+x. We don't understand why, but similar to the previous
speaker and +rx by other, we consider this solution unacceptable.

We find it incomprehensible that a system that appears to place such a
high priority on security requires the use of unacceptable, insecure
permissions in order to run in production environments. Especially since
it is being forced upon us.
