[Bug 486473] [NEW] Mouse position stops moving.

2009-11-21 Thread LaunchPeter
Public bug reported:

>From time to time my mouse starts acting weird. The pointer still moves
as expected but on clicks it reacts as if the position didn't change
(i.e. wherever I click, the reaction stays the same.)

Since this happens in KDE as well as in XFCE, I think this bug is in
xorg or hald. But I'm not quite sure where exactly.

I'm running an up-to-date kubuntu 9.10 (amd64).

[Bug 486473] Re: Mouse starts acting weird.

2009-11-23 Thread LaunchPeter
** Summary changed:

- Mouse position stops moving.
+ Mouse starts acting weird.

** Description changed:

From time to time my mouse starts acting weird. The pointer still moves
as expected but on clicks it reacts as if the position didn't change
(i.e. wherever I click, the reaction stays the same.)

Since this happens in KDE as well as in XFCE, I think this bug is in
xorg or hald. But I'm not quite sure where exactly.

  I'm running an up-to-date kubuntu 9.10 (amd64).
+
+ edit: Got some additional information:
+ GDM won't start. It just pops up a message that says it won't start due to
the Error "(EE) HID 046a:0023: failed to initialize for relative axes.".
+ 046a:0023 is my keyboard. It has no axis. ("Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046a:0023
Cherry GmbH Cymotion Master Linux Keyboard")
+
+ The mouse position seems not to be caught at one point but at an area (i.e. a
textarea in a chatprogram or the menu of a window).
+ As I tried to describe: The visible pointer is not caught at all. But when I
click it reacts as if it was above the area where it's caught.
+
+ I have no idea how to trigger the bug. It happens while watching movies
+ or typing (it just happened while I wrote this). It once even happened
+ directly after the login.

[Bug 486473] Re: Mouse starts acting weird.

2009-12-01 Thread LaunchPeter
Could someone explain to me why this should be a bug in the nvidia graphics
driver?
The bug has nothing to do with visual effects.
The Bug also occurs with the "nv" driver.

[Bug 486473] Re: Mouse starts acting weird.

2009-12-07 Thread LaunchPeter
Ok. I marked it as invalid since the "bug" was caused by a broken receiver for
a wireless mouse that was plugged into my ps/2 port.
(And I still don't get why this should ever looked like it was nvidia-drivers
related.)

** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 486473] Re: Mouse starts acting weird.

2009-11-30 Thread LaunchPeter
** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) => xorg
(Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

From time to time my mouse starts acting weird. The pointer still moves
as expected but on clicks it reacts as if the position didn't change
(i.e. wherever I click, the reaction stays the same.)

Since this happens in KDE as well as in XFCE, I think this bug is in
xorg or hald. But I'm not quite sure where exactly.

  I'm running an up-to-date kubuntu 9.10 (amd64).

  edit: Got some additional information:
- GDM won't start. It just pops up a message that says it won't start due to
the Error "(EE) HID 046a:0023: failed to initialize for relative axes.".
+ GDM won't start. It just pops up a message that says it won't start due to
the Error "(EE) HID 046a:0023: failed to initialize for relative axes.".
046a:0023 is my keyboard. It has no axis. ("Bus 003 Device 002: ID 046a:0023
Cherry GmbH Cymotion Master Linux Keyboard")
KDM starts without an error message.

The mouse position seems not to be caught at one point but at an area (i.e. a
textarea in a chatprogram or the menu of a window).
As I tried to describe: The visible pointer is not caught at all. But when I
click it reacts as if it was in the area where it's caught.

I have no idea how to trigger the bug. It happens while watching movies
or typing (it just happened while I wrote this). It once even happened
  directly after the login.

+ edit2:
+ This happens with the nv (xserver-xorg-video-nv-1:2.1.14-2ubuntu3) driver as
well as with nvidia (nvidia-glx-185.18.36-0ubuntu9).

[Bug 462669] [NEW] "Creating user..." hangs while installation.

2009-10-28 Thread LaunchPeter
Public bug reported:

When I try to install Kubuntu Karmic (rc1) with an encrypted home directory the
installer hangs. I seems something has crashed, because I already waited for
over 15min.
With the desktop cd it is at 83% "Creating user...".
With the alternate cd it is while "Generating users and passwords..." (iirc)

On the desktop cd all CPUs are very busy (accumulated load between 60
and 80%).

The attached files are from the boot with the desktop cd.

[Bug 506383] [NEW] Amarok 2.2.0 doesn't play any songs with a # in the filename.

2010-01-12 Thread LaunchPeter
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

Songs from Files with a # in the filename are correctly added to the database
and I can add them to the playlist.
But when it should play them, amarok stops playback. When I then push the
"play" button, amarok skips to the next song.

Renaming the files solves the problem.

Example filenames are: "Song #14.m4a", "Muzzle #1.wma", "#wasfailt.mp3"

[Bug 1040160] [NEW] White-on-white text in Firefox

2012-08-22 Thread LaunchPeter
Public bug reported:

With Greybird the firefox-autocompletion/suggestions from the adressbar

I'm using

- The Greybird version from the package shimmer-themes-1.3.0-ubuntu1
- Firefox 14.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1

Solution was to reset the general.skins.selectedSkin variable in
about:config. A plugin I deinstalled had changed it.

[Bug 933556] Re: aptitude is totally unusable due to rolling list of internal errors

2012-03-09 Thread LaunchPeter
Same here. The resolver seems to wonder, that there are packages he selected to
remove, that stay (since there are two versions of them in multiarch).
In my case I want to deinstall XFCE and this crazy resolver wants to offer a
solution which would remove libc6.

This guy seems to have the same problem: http://www.mail-archive.com
