[Bug 245809] [NEW] [hardy] Unlock button not in dialog

2008-07-05 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: policykit-gnome

Went into "User Settings", choosed a user and opened "Properties". In the tab
"User Privileges" it looks like one can actually change the settings (which is
confusing). The real annoying thing is - if I get that I have to unlock first I
cannot do this in the dialog right away. I have to close the "Properties"
dialog, hit the Unlock button, enter the Password, hit ok, open "Properties"
again, go to tab "User Privileges" again and start editing.
So my proposal is that every dialog where one has to unlock before being able
to edit anything gets his own Unlock button.

[Bug 360080] Re: totem-gstreamer does not show subtitles for ogg files

2009-05-12 Thread LCID Fire

I have an ogg file and subtitles (srt) for that file. When I try to play both

On difficult song texts and karaoke song subtitles make a lot of sense though.

[Bug 389750] [NEW] git-buildpackage does not generate orig.tar.gz

2009-06-19 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: git-buildpackage

The manpage for jauntys git-bp says:
git-buildpackage will, in order:

 * Build an orig.tar.gz if it doesn't exist.
 * Call debuild(1) (or the application specified via --git-builder) with
arguments instructing it to ignore Git meta-data in the diff.gz, passing along
all arguments given to git-buildpackage that don't start with --git-.

[Bug 390353] [NEW] autoconf should be able to remove its generated files

2009-06-21 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autoconf

The way to currently remove files generated by autoconf is to call "make
distclean". This just works when automake is used, too. While this might
be the default use case in many cases it is conceptual wrong since
autoconf might be used without automake and thus there is no automated
way to remove generated files. I'd propose a "autoconf --cleanup" which
indeed does the cleanup and is furthermore also used by automake.

[Bug 179966] Re: Mixer on Rane Serato Live does not work

2008-11-05 Thread LCID Fire
The point is:
1. I have a alsa patch pending which implements a device specific switch for
the device.
2. I'm not sure whether the device has a mixer. I'd need some help from a
usb/alsa developer to sort this out.
3. Regardless whether a real mixer is present - I need the mixer instance for
the switch (see 1).

For all I'd need some alsa developer - but it seems like nobody cares

[Bug 289625] [NEW] [intrepid] no sound for some videos

2008-10-26 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Since upgrading to intrepid I have the situation where on some videos I get no
sound. It does not work with totem-gstreamer or gxine. The interesting thing is
- opening these files with avidemux the sound plays fine - so I suspect the
others are messing up somewhere along the way.
AFAIS the only audio that is concerned is mp3 and mp2 - although I have to say
that it's not a general rule - the other half of files with mp3 and mp2 play
fine. I also don't see anything that's similar between these files. Totem shows
N/A as the Audio Codec - and on some file it shows the correct one.
Pretty strange behaviour.

[Bug 292693] [NEW] Revert to old firefox startup site

2008-11-02 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

The new google startup site in Intrepid is totally misleading to casual users.
My father just told me that the image search in Firefox does no longer work. It
was really no longer there because of this ugly and totally pointless
customized google search, that is shown as the startup site for Intrepid. I had
to convince him to use the google search control instead.
These people don't know shit about a browser and a computer - they were trained
to work with the ordinary google search site - so don't confuse them with such
a pointless change and please revert it ASAP.

[Bug 250152] [NEW] Background Bitmap slows down Presentation

2008-07-19 Thread LCID Fire
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I created a 1024 x 768 presentation and set a 1024 x 768 png as the
background. While this worked - OpenOffice is now totally slow
(scrolling lags about 2 seconds) - which makes working with it
impossible. I'm on a Core 2 Duo machine with an accellerated nvidia
driver. The times it lags the CPU use is at 100%.

[Bug 250784] [NEW] Miro shows duplicate entries

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: miro

When I open Miro there are 2 channels where all videos that I chose to
keep are now shown twice - and one is marked as unwatched. Both entries

[Bug 66804] Re: direct dvd copy would be nice

2008-12-23 Thread LCID Fire
Well usually when bugs are open more than a year it is just a nicer way
to say: "FU - we won't do it" - at least in my experience.

[Bug 200589] Re: fwlanusb crashes the system

2008-12-21 Thread LCID Fire
In theory it should. To be sure just check and delete all the file of
the old kernel version (/boot, /lib/modules, ...) and update grub.

[Bug 108553] Re: mdadm SEGFAULT

2008-12-14 Thread LCID Fire
Same here on 8.10.
I have 2 raids running - the root filesystem as raid 0 and a data mount as raid
1.
The raid 0 is coming up fine - just the raid 1 screws up.
Strangely starting it manually works like a charm!?

[Bug 108553] Re: mdadm SEGFAULT

2008-12-14 Thread LCID Fire
I just noticed - the segfault is not related to the raid 1 coming up or
not. Got it configured correctly and the segfault is still showing up
(although it does not seem to have any consequence!?)

[Bug 336029] Re: [FFe] Merge miro 2.0.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-03-17 Thread LCID Fire
Thanks James for the build - at least for me it works without any
problems so far - but I'm using gstreamer as a backend, not xine. The
only playback problem once in a while is pulseaudio - but that issue is
well known.

[Bug 336029] Re: [FFe] Merge miro 2.0.3-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2009-03-17 Thread LCID Fire
Iain: I have had a few crashes with miro now but they all seem to be
related to pulseaudio. Don't know whether it would make sense to make
the backend interfaces more robust in miro.

James: As long as I've been using Ubuntu (few years) the Xine backend has
supported far more codecs than gstreamer and was much more stable. With jaunty
xine is so far surprisingly unstable and has quite a few regressions - which
actually doesn't bother me too much since gstreamer seems to have improved
quite a bit.
In general I agree - I'd say before the beta launch there should be a decision
whether xine is still stable enough to be the default option for the release.

[Bug 330814] Re: snd_pcm_avail_update() returning absurd values causes PulseAudio to abort

2009-03-20 Thread LCID Fire
Daniel: I tested the amd64 image and it shows a much more extreme behaviour.
Miro for example works every time now - no scrambled output anymore
But in Totem it does not play sound anymore - stating:
** Message: Error: Disconnected: OK
pulsesink.c(451): gst_pulsesink_is_dead ():
/GstPlayBin:play/GstBin:abin/GstBin:audiosinkbin/GstGConfAudioSink:audio-sink/GstBin:bin5/GstAutoAudioSink:autoaudiosink1/GstPulseSink:autoaudiosink1-actual-sink-pulse

strange thing is - both use gstreamer.
