Confirming this, I hit this all the time. From experience, it doesn't freeze, just make it *incredibly* slow, After leaving it for 10-20 mins I saw the text move every 5 minutes or so but then got bored. I have to say I'm seeing a similar issue. I'm not sure if it's just under Kubuntu as I don't have ubuntu-desktop installed, but I've noticed a definite performance hit. The one that this bug report is for is the screen not updating until TTY switch. Every few minutes of so, the screen will "freeze" (although apps appear to still receive input) this can be fixed by switching TTY from and back to 7 and all is normal again.
