Confirming this, I hit this all the time. From experience, it doesn't freeze, just make it *incredibly* slow, After leaving it for 10-20 mins I saw the text move every 5 minutes or so but then got bored. I have to say I'm seeing a similar issue. I'm not sure if it's just under Kubuntu as I don't have ubuntu-desktop installed, but I've noticed a definite performance hit. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel After updating yesterday I am seeing a few strange behaviours on my 2nd gen macbook, I'm not sure which is the cause and which is the symptom. The one that this bug report is for is the screen not updating until TTY switch. Every few minutes of so, the screen will "freeze" (although apps appear to still receive input) this can be fixed by switching TTY from and back to 7 and all is normal again.
