[Bug 1923328] [NEW] xrdp wants to remove lubuntu-desktop on lubuntu

2021-04-10 Thread Kenneth Heal
Public bug reported:

If I attempt to install xrdp on a Lubuntu 18.04.5 machine apt wants to
remove lubuntu-desktop (a variant of LXDE), which would obviously
disrupt the system.

2021-04-11 Thread Kenneth Heal
Thanks for the update, I was under the impression 18.04 is an LTS
release.

Anyway I think I may have solved the issue with the following:

[Bug 1923328] Re: xrdp wants to remove lubuntu-desktop on lubuntu

2021-04-11 Thread Kenneth Heal
Further digging around revealed https://c-nergy.be/blog/?p=13390 blog
post.

So, there is a need to rebuild xrdp against HWE 18.04 on Ubuntu 18.04.2.

Maybe Ubuntu should provide a new binary package, let’s say “xrdp-
hwe-18.04″…

For now, I’ve recompiled the same xrdp from Ubuntu 18.04, on Ubuntu
18.04.2 and uploaded to my “XRP PPA”, here:

https://launchpad.net/~martinx/+archive/ubuntu/xrdp-hwe-18.04

To enjoy xrdp on Ubuntu 18.04 with HWE, just do:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:martinx/xrdp-hwe-18.04
sudo apt install xrdp xorgxrdp

Bug report:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1817225
===

In short the following steps resolved the issue:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:martinx/xrdp-hwe-18.04
$ sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-18.04
xserver-xorg-hwe-18.04
$ sudo apt-get install xrdp xorgxrdp xfonts-100dpi xfonts-75dpi
$ sudo adduser xrdp ssl-cert
$ grep ^X11Forwarding /etc/ssh/sshd_config
X11Forwarding yes
$ cat ~/.xsession
#!/bin/sh

/usr/bin/lxsession -s Lubuntu -e LXDE

[Bug 783551] Re: eee pc 901 power button does not work

2012-05-31 Thread Kenneth Heal
I have installed lubuntu 12.04 onto an eeepc 701/4G and I see this
issue; pushing the power button does nothing. Clicking on the power
symbol does bring up the menu and the power settings are set that if the
power button is pressed it should ask.

Changed affects for the simple reason that I see the default settings
are ok, but not sure what is exactly the culprit.
