[Bug 839965] Re: Screen brightness levels won't scale correctly

2012-04-28 Thread José Antonio
Does anyone know a solution for this? I'm still experiencing this bug,
I'm unable to increase my screen brightness and pressing the decrease
screen brightness keys immediately jumps to minimum screen brightness.

[Bug 546871] Re: ath5k system freeze induced by Chrome bookmark sync

2010-09-24 Thread José Antonio
Andrew, I'm just upgrade the system and then search the package in the
console with:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude dist-upgrade
sudo aptitude search linux-backports-modules-compat-wireless

then I selected the version that match my kerenel (2.6.32.24-pae).

And that's it. If you don't see the package review you sources in the
apt config.

Hope that helps.

[Bug 839602] Re: Grid overlay effect does not disappear when it should

2011-09-02 Thread José Antonio
To reproduce this bug just drag a window to either left or right side of
the screen and let the grid overlay effect appear, then drag the window
to to button of the screen always having the window the closest possible
to the screen edge (else the grid overlay effect will disappear), I
attached a video of how to reproduce the bug but I think the frame rate
I selected is too fast I'll make a newer one.

[Bug 839965] [NEW] Screen brightness levels won't scale correctly

2011-09-02 Thread José Antonio
Public bug reported:

When I press the key to lower the screen brightness it immediately turns
the screen brightness to minimum but when I hit the key to increase the
screen brightness it turn my screen to 1/10 of it's maximum brightness
(my /sys/class/backlight offers 10 levels of brightness), thought if I
keep the increase brightness key pressed for a couple of seconds it
turns the screen brightness to maximum (it won't be able to scale with
the other screen brightness levels, it goes straight to maximum).
Interestingly though when I use Fedora 15 (older distributions of Fedora
won't work) brightness levels work just fine, so I think this used to be
a gnome-settings-daemon bug corrected with the release of gnome 3.

Public bug reported:

When resizing a window grabbing the resize grip at button right
sometimes the button right corner goes down to the button right corner
of the screen (it happens automatically without the user actually
dragging the mouse there and it won't happen all the times), the same
way most of the times when resizing with the resize grip the window most
of the times grows without the user dragging the mouse (not as critical
as going to the button right but still is a wrong behavior), this
doesn't no happen while using unity 2d (witch had no compiz effects
turned on).

[Bug 780203] [NEW] Recently added lauchers in unity won't recognize wether the application is running or not

2011-05-09 Thread José Antonio
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

After adding a new launcher in the Unity launcher, if the application is
started, the launcher isn't able to recognize if the application is
currently running or not and won't show it as running being required to
logout to have a proper functioning. This bug could be considered
serious for applications like LibreOffice since minimizing it could make
that current window impossible to grab again (in the case of LibreOffice
having quickstart enabled seems to break this bug though).

[Bug 781432] [NEW] Overlay scrollbars are kept displayed when they shouldn't

2011-05-11 Thread José Antonio
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: overlay-scrollbar

In the nvidia proprietary driver settings the little orange line is kept
displayed when it shouldn't (changing from the pane OpenGL/GLX Information -
which has a little text box with a overlay scrollbar -to another pane) as shown
in the pictures bellow.
I don't really know if this same bug happens in other applications (I have only
noticed it with the nvidia settings).

Normal behavior of the overlay scrollbar

[Bug 781442] [NEW] Certain Java applications won't be docked correctly in the Unity Launcher

2011-05-11 Thread José Antonio
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Certain Java archive applications (applications ending with .jar) will
not dock correctly when a launcher is created (when a .desktop entry is
created and added to the launcher, pressing the .desktop entry will add
another icon to the launcher instead of the same original icon recognize
by it self the running application). There are only two examples that I
know, one of them is some kind of Portuguese dictionary-speller called
Lince and the other one is Minecraft which is more likely to be known by
some.

Here is my .desktop entry for my Lince application (the Minecraft one
should be similar)

SecureBoot was disabled when the pc started. I did apt-get update and
the system asked about SecureBoot preferences; after updating and reboot
the issue was solved.

[Bug 1483093] Re: .archive.ubuntu.com is non inclusive

2015-08-12 Thread José Antonio Rey
Hey Robie,

Unfortunately, this server was installed for a conference that has
already ended, and infrastructure for the site has already torn it down.
If it helps, I installed 14.04.2 just a couple days before 14.04.3 was
released. No ppas, stock from the repo. No modifications on the sources
list.

And yes, it does seem like it happens with the DNS redirection. I never
tried using the squid client, since it was, as I mentioned, to use at a
conference with large attendance.

[Bug 1483093] [NEW] .archive.ubuntu.com is non inclusive

2015-08-09 Thread José Antonio Rey
Public bug reported:

On the mirror-dstdomain.acl list, it has the following entries:

.archive.ubuntu.com
ports.ubuntu.com
security.ubuntu.com
ddebs.ubuntu.com
mirrors.ubuntu.com
.archive.canonical.com
.extras.ubuntu.com
changelogs.ubuntu.com

However, the .archive.ubuntu.com entry, for example, is non inclusive.
This means that when there is a DNS forward made to this proxy, if
pointed as archive.ubuntu.com it will cause an error. The entry should
be either inclusive, or have the dot removed from the front on the
default auto-generated list.

[Bug 1483093] Re: .archive.ubuntu.com is non inclusive

2015-08-10 Thread José Antonio Rey
Hello, Robie!

I downloaded and installed Ubuntu Server from the releases.ubuntu.com cd
repository. Once the server was installed (14.04.2), I installed and
configured a mirror with squid-deb-proxy. I set it up so it would work
with a DNS redirect. So, I had custom DNSs, and they pointed
archive.ubuntu.com to my mirror (172.16.224.222). However, when users
started using apt-get, it started giving 403 errors. The errors went
away when we removed the . at the start from .archive.ubuntu.com, which
changed from ".archive.ubuntu.com" to "archive.ubuntu.com". Yes, this
was the change that stopped giving the 403, since we were tailing the
logs and it stopped as soon as we removed the dot and restarted squid-
deb-proxy.

If you need any more details, feel free to let me know. I'll be glad to
help.

[Bug 805700] Re: Natty&Oneiric - intel 82945G/GZ graphics card - Intel driver fails

2012-01-12 Thread José Antonio Rey
Hi there. This is a VERY common problem with Intel chipsets and video
cards. I have been posting some steps in different questions in the
answer tracker, and those usually work to solve the problem. Here they
are:

1.- Search the values of HorizSync and VertRefresh of your monitor.
2.- Open a terminal and type "sudo X configure :1" without quotes. This will
create a new xorg.conf file.
3.- In the same terminal, type "gksu gedit xorg.conf.new" without quotes. This
will open a text editor with the file that you have just created in there.
4.- You will see that it is divided in sections. Search for the Monitor
section, and before the EndSection line of that section, add this two lines,
without quotes:
"HorizSync 30.0 - 81.0
VertRefresh 56.0 - 75.0"
5.- Replace the values in there with the values found in step 1.
6.- Save and close the file. If you want to, you can put it into a pastebin so
I can check it before you move. If you do not want to, then move on to the next
step.
7.- In a terminal, type "sudo mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf" without
quotes. This will move the file to its correct position.
8.- Restart the PC.

In case it does NOT works, copy this command into a paper: "sudo rm
/etc/X11/xorg.conf", and boot into text mode, to enter this command
without quotes and remove the file. If it works, please ignore this
step.

[Bug 800491] [NEW] Ubiquity crashes and corrupts Windows.

2011-06-21 Thread José Antonio Rey
Public bug reported:

Hello. I have an HP quad-core AMD-64 system with 1TB HDD, 8 GB RAM, Win
7 dual-boot (trying). No matter which method I use, WUBI, Install to
HDD, Live from CD, Live from Stick, Install from stick, Install from CD:
approximately 5 minutes into either install, or session, the system
freezes, then prints out on the screen various errors, which cannot be
printed out because it is frozen. Then after booting into Windows, the
TV-tuner card has to be re-scanned to work again. Then, after about 20
tries, my boot for Windows corrupted.

The version I'm trying to install is 11.04. My Windows 7 is on its own
partition. All other previous versions have installed and ran fine.

I wrote down what I could from the error list:

Kernel panic not syncing - fatal exception in interrupt
PID:0, comm:kworker/0:1 Tainted G D
2.6.38-8 generic * 42-ubuntu

Call trace:

The driver file for my TV-Tuner is cx23885 (Conexant).

Any suggestions? Thanks.

[Bug 840082] [NEW] Huawei broadband modem fails to connect after the most recent Ocelot update (Sep. 3.2011)

2011-09-02 Thread José Antonio Rey
Public bug reported:

Huawei broadband modem fails to connect to Tigo, Honduras, after the
most recent Ocelot update (Sep. 3.2011). 3.0.0.9 Kernel.

Ocelot finds and recognises the modem, and dials, but it just fails to
connect to the Internet service. I'm back in Natty now and I'm
connecting fine. Also, it was connecting without issue (in Ocelot) 10
minutes ago before the upgrade.

The update log is attached.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

CaymanPirate

[Bug 775207] Re: Unity launcher doesn't hides

2011-05-02 Thread José Antonio Rey
The screenshot is this: http://i51.tinypic.com/1zqvm1d.png
It happens since Ubuntu runs. It is like if all the windows were behind the
launcher.
