Thank you for that pointer. [Bug 196336] [NEW] Kubuntu Hardy install X crashes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity-frontend-kde This report is on the Alpha 5 install from the Desktop CD. If I try to use the main menu Install option, after going through the Kubuntu splash screen, X will try to start, but will crash with an DCOP authorization failure message. It fails on both the i386 and AMD64 disks, and either normal graphics or safe graphics. My experience matches pepster's. After burning the DVD, instead of popping open the drawer on my laptop, then complaining that it couldn't read the disk, it now keeps the drive closed from insertion of blank medium until verification is complete. === Jon On Tuesday 04 December 2007 15:48:51 catlow wrote: > The bug still exists with version 1.0.4-2ubuntu1-gutsy1, at least for > me. > > Verify doesn't start because the tray does not retract, and manually > closing it doesn't help. > > I too had no problems until Gutsy (7.10) "final" release.
