[Bug 918277] Re: Mouse freezes after a couple of time.

2012-02-16 Thread John Burkhart
Just want to report that I have this problem as well on an HP 2740P
running 11.10 with kernel 3.2.0-11

It only just recently started to happen (possibly in conjunction with
enabling the oneric-proposed sources (however, disabling it and running
apt-get update / apt-get upgrade did not revert the problem).

Whatever I can provide to assist, please let me know.

I can say it is quite repeatable that the mouse will not freeze until the first
time that I use the 'super' key to launch the Unity search panel. After that
the mouse freezes. Opening a terminal and typing:
synclient TouchpadOff=0

Fixes the problem and it does not seem to reoccurr.

Thank you.

[Bug 1313382] Re: After upgrade to 14.04, lid-closing suspend causes freeze

2014-05-02 Thread John Burkhart
Hello. I'm following up, but unfortunately cannot contribute back in a
meaningful way to this bug report, as I decided to go ahead with a clean
install.

Now, both pm-suspend and lid closing seem to work.

Note, however, that in order to get the wireless working reliable, I've
created the following script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/30_wifiup

#!/bin/bash

case "$1" in
suspend_hybrid|hibernate|suspend)
# executed on suspend
   rfkill block bluetooth
;;
thaw|resume)
# executed on resume
# restart wireless, just in case
restart network-manager > /dev/null

#wake up the speakers
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x1 set_gpio_mask 1
sleep 1
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x1 set_gpio_direction 1
sleep 1
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x1 set_gpio_data 1

#bluetooth
rfkill unblock bluetooth
;;
*)
;;
esac

I'm mostly adding this information just in case someone is searching as I did
for solutions!

[Bug 989001] Re: hud does not show application specific functions

2012-05-24 Thread John Burkhart
I think HUD is a great concept, but I have the same problem that it too
quickly provides non focused-application results. Is there a way to
force it to only return results from the focused application?
