Nothing should be negatively affected. [Bug 1107874] [NEW] [SRU] When using different fonts attributes for same face, fonts get missed up in Ecere
Public bug reported: Fonts get wrong transform and kerning when using different attributes for the same face. [Test Case] Notice how the following code has the T displaying over the e import "ecere" class Form1 : Window { caption = "Form1"; background = activeBorder; borderStyle = sizable; hasMaximize = true; hasMinimize = true; hasClose = true; clientSize = { 632, 438 }; Label label1 { this, caption = "Test", font = { "Arial", 12 }, position = { 128, 88 } }; Label label2 { this, caption = "Test", font = { "Arial", 64 }, position = { 120, 168 } }; } Form1 form1 {}; [Regression Potential] The Font objects of the same face share the FreeType object, and must reset these attributes when re-rendering the font or re-computing kernings between 2 characters. The fix required invoking FreeType to change these attributes. Everything seemded to be working fine. ** Affects: ecere-sdk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Jerome St-Louis (jerstlouis) Status: New ** Changed in: ecere-sdk (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Jerome St-Louis (jerstlouis) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1107874 Title: [SRU] When using different fonts attributes for same face, fonts get missed up in Ecere To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecere-sdk/+bug/1107874/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1107879] [NEW] [SRU] The color selection drop box no longer displays the color
Public bug reported: The color box within the color selection drop box is no longer working. Changes to the DataBox would no longer have the color being rendered. [Test Case] Create a new project with a default form in the IDE Switch to Properties (F4) Notice how the Foreground and Background properties do not show the color when the drop box is selected (row is active). [Regression Potential] This was fixed by still invoking the data type OnDisplay() method if the custom data editor leaves room at the left of it (as the ColorDropBox does). It should not have affect any other data display. At worst, things would get rendered twice, possibly with a slight unwanted offset. ** Affects: ecere-sdk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Jerome St-Louis (jerstlouis) Status: New ** Changed in: ecere-sdk (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Jerome St-Louis (jerstlouis) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1107879 Title: [SRU] The color selection drop box no longer displays the color To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecere-sdk/+bug/1107879/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1107888] [NEW] [SRU] The Debugger breakpoints do not work consistently
Public bug reported: The Debugger breakpoints do not work consistently: While debugging, the breakpoints line numbers are lost and become 0, so as not to work properly the next time the project is opened. It was also noted that the C line numbers (for code that does not have corresponding eC line number) in generated C files were wrong. [Test Case] Create a project with a breakpoint Run the project to the breakpoint, step over Notice in the Breakpoint windows that the line numbers became 0 Terminate the program Close the IDE Reopen the IDE Notice that the breakpoint no longer work [Regression Potential] Since the Tokenizing and Quote stripping functions had to be changed to properly parse items, this could negatively affect the debugger communication protocol. [Bug 1107827] Re: [SRU] A serious potential for undefined behavior was identified
** Description changed: - Compiling some specific eC results in undefined behavior after memory has been corrupted. - The Specifier class in the eC compiler library contains a union whose members were used in alternate manner, without proper reinitialization. + A serious potential for undefined behavior was identified in the eC + compiler. + + Although I've not been able to reproduce the problem with the current + state of the Specifier class, the problem manifests itself as soon as + the layout of that class is slightly modified. + + The Specifier class in the eC compiler library contains a union whose + members were used in alternate manner, without proper re-initialization. [Test Case] - The eC compiler will crash or produce unexpected behavior when compiling some specific eC code [need to remember/dig that code out]. + To reproduce the problem, add a 'void * dummy' member to the Specifier class, in sdk/compiler/libec/src/ecdefs.ec, inside the union, and inside the struct, right before 'char * name', so that it looks like: + + public class Specifier : struct + { + public: +Specifier prev, next; +Location loc; +SpecifierType type; +union +{ + int specifier; + struct + { + >>> void * dummy; <<< + char * name; + ... + + The compiler will then be totally broken, crashing compiling any file. + With the fix, adding the 'dummy' member there will not cause any problem. + + The first and second structs of the union conflict with each other without being reinitialized properly. The first is used for when type is 'nameSpecifier', while the second is used when type is 'structSpecifier'. A Specifier is morphed from a nameSpecifier into a structSpecifier during the pass 3 of the compiler, and so this is problematic. + It seems the problem is more evident when 'templateArgs' maps to 'definitions', rather than 'baseSpecs' as was the case in Quantal. However since there is a potential for bad behavior due to the overlap between templateArgs and baseSpecs, this should be fixed. [Regression Potential] This is a clean fix that simply re-initializes to all members of the union, so as to avoid the problem. It should not break anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1107827 Title: [SRU] A serious potential for undefined behavior was identified To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecere-sdk/+bug/1107827/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1110284] [NEW] [SRU (Quantal)] Makefiles generated by the Ecere IDE do not work by themselves

** Description changed: - A mutex remained unlocked in eC applications inheriting GuiApplication - but not initializing the interface system. + A mutex was being unlocked without having ever been locked in eC + applications inheriting from GuiApplication but not initializing the + interface system. This was the case in ear. The Release() call was in the GuiApplication destructor, whereas the first Wait() is inside the Initialize() method, which is not necessarily going to be called. [Bug 1107879] Re: [SRU] The color selection drop box no longer displays the color
** Description changed: The color box within the color selection drop box is no longer working. Changes to the DataBox would no longer have the color being rendered. [Test Case] Create a new project with a default form in the IDE Switch to Properties (F4) - Notice how the Foreground and Background properties do not show the color when the drop box is selected (row is active). + Notice how the Foreground and Background properties do not show the color when the drop box is selected (row is active). (In fact, the 'selected row' color (some slate blue) shows through where the color box used to be, and can be confused for the color, which makes this bug even more annoying). [Regression Potential] This was fixed by still invoking the data type OnDisplay() method if the custom data editor leaves room at the left of it (as the ColorDropBox does). It should not have affect any other data display. At worst, things would get rendered twice, possibly with a slight unwanted offset. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1107879 Title: [SRU] The color selection drop box no longer displays the color To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ecere-sdk/+bug/1107879/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Release team, I was really hoping the Ecere SDK would make it into Quantal, but we went through the Debian path... It was mentionned to me before on #ubuntu-motu that going through Debian would be a valid reason for a Feature Freeze Exception, so I'm wishing it can happen! The Ecere SDK is an awesome compact package letting you write modern fast native object oriented code, with its own cross-platform light GUI toolkit, and as a new package it should not break anything :) Many thanks! -Jerome -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394998 Title: [FFe] Please sync ecere-sdk 0.44.01-1 from Debian Experimental To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ecere/+bug/394998/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394998] Re: [needs-packaging] ecere-sdk -- cross-platform developer toolkit
Many thanks Dmitrijs for reviewing the package and getting the ball rolling! I believe I have addressed most if not all of the faults. I attach to the upstream version, 0.44.01 to this message. This should build on Quantal in 32 bit, verified on an i386. We do not have support for 64 bit yet ( It's currently planned for https://launchpad.net/ecere/+milestone/0.44.8 ) I have however enabled the other 32 bit architectures. I have also fixed the architecture independent files to say 'all' Lintian no longer provides warning on the source package. The libraries source included are mostly under deps/ , and are provided to facilitate building the source package on Windows. They are not linked against under Linux, with the exception of ungif. An amalgamated SQLite is again provided for Windows users convenience. We also have slightly modified version of harfbuzz within ecere/src/graphics/drivers which we require and is not available elsewhere. The entire source package fits in 11mb compressed, ~50 uncompressed, and the 3rd party source represents a reasonable percentage of the source archive size. I have gone over the included source files and updated the debian/copyright accordingly Lintian runs error free on the binary package, but with a few warnings: W: ecere-sdk: package-name-doesnt-match-sonames libEDA0 libEDASQLite0 libec0 libecereCOM0 W: ecere-sdk: description-starts-with-leading-spaces W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/documentor W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/ear W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/ecc W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/ecp W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/ecs W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/epj2make W: ecere-sdk: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/ide W: ecere-sdk: non-dev-pkg-with-shlib-symlink usr/lib/libEDASQLite.so.0.44 usr/lib/libEDASQLite.so W: ecere-sdk: non-dev-pkg-with-shlib-symlink usr/lib/libEDA.so.0.44 usr/lib/libEDA.so W: ecere-sdk: non-dev-pkg-with-shlib-symlink usr/lib/libec.so.0.44 usr/lib/libec.so W: ecere-sdk: non-dev-pkg-with-shlib-symlink usr/lib/libecereCOM.so.0.44 usr/lib/libecereCOM.so W: ecere-extras: description-starts-with-leading-spaces W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/ecere.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/ffi.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/freetype.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/gpl.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/harfbuzz.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/jpg.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/openSSL.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/png.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/sqlcipher.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/sqlite.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/tango.COPYING W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/ungif.LICENSE W: ecere-extras: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/extras/res/licenses/upx.LICENSE W: ecere-doc: description-starts-with-leading-spaces W: ecere-doc: wrong-section-according-to-package-name ecere-doc => doc W: ecere-samples: description-starts-with-leading-spaces W: ecere-samples: duplicate-font-file usr/share/ecere/samples/3D/HiraganaCube/FreeSans.ttf also in ttf-freefont W: ecere-samples: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/samples/LICENSE W: ecere-samples: extra-license-file usr/share/ecere/samples/misc/licensing/myapp.LICENSE W: libecere: package-name-doesnt-match-sonames libecere0 W: libecere: description-starts-with-leading-spaces W: libecere: non-dev-pkg-with-shlib-symlink usr/lib/libecere.so.0.44 usr/lib/libecere.so Hoping these are no show stoppers, and that someone can now review binaries... [Bug 394998] Re: [needs-packaging] ecere-sdk -- cross-platform developer toolkit
Thank you Daniel! I will apply the patch for the Copyright, I was not getting this here... I will run the update-maintainer as well. For the watch, I do not yet have a standard file location / tags so I will wait until next major update, if that's okay. The i386 build on Quantal built fine before on the Launchpad PPA. I'm going to set up a virtual machine and try it there. Would you have the full failed build log? It looks as though it couldn't find ffi.h from libffi, which is in an architecture dependent include path. Thanks!
