[Bug 48250] Re: Joe segfaults when editing HTML

2006-11-09 Thread jag
I've moved on to edgy, but a friend still has dapper on another machine.
He was able to reproduce the bug. When I had him run it in gdb and
"thread apply all bt" after the crash, there were no symbols.

He rebuild the package with debugging symbols but then was unable to
reproduce the bug. :-)

I too am unable to reproduce this in edgy.

[Bug 151399] Kernel spits out errors about hfa384x

2007-10-10 Thread jag
Public bug reported:

After booting up my Thinkpad T23 which has a "Intersil Corporation Prism
2.5 Wavelan chipset" and not having the restricted drivers installed
because they are oppressive to freedom, the kernel seems to lag the
system for about five minutes then continues spitting out to kern.log
the following two lines:

wlan0: hfa384x_cmd: cmd_queue_full
wlan0: hfa384x_get_rid: CMDCODE_ACCESS failed (res=-1, rid=fdc6, len=12)

It'd be nice if this didn't lag my system upon boot or continue filling
my logs with these messages. Thanks!

[Bug 94810] No XML/RPC.php for php4 in Dapper Drake

2007-03-22 Thread jag
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: php-pear

In Breezy Badger, XML/RPC.php was provided for php4 in the php-pear
package. In Dapper Drake, the XML/RPC.php has been removed from php-pear
in favor of the php5-xmlrpc package which has a binary xmlrpc.so --
however for those of us with Apache 1.3, we're stuck with mod_php4,
which means we don't have an option for XML/RPC.php within the package
system.

It would be great if you'd create a php4-xmlrpc package with the files
removed from php-pear between breezy and dapper.

[Bug 158262] Re: Cannot run tpb as normal user

2008-07-16 Thread Jag Dragon
To run tpb as a normal user, the user must be in the nvram group (As stated
above). This can be done by running the command:
   sudo adduser nvram

To fix up the init script so that the stopping works, simply add the following
line to the stop) part of the switch. The file I have attached is a
demonstration of this.
   killall tpb

Finally, to make the program run on startup, navigate through the menu
System->Preferences->Sessions and add a new startup program. Name it
"Thinkpad Button" and the command should be "tpb -d".

I could not get the init script in /etc/rc2.d/S99tpb (symbolic link to
/etc/init.d/tpb) to work though.

[Bug 219775] Re: Broadcom B43 wireless doesn't work in 8.04 worked in 7.10

2008-07-16 Thread Jag Dragon
I did almost exactly what was written above, but used Ubuntu packages
rather than downloading the source code for fwcutter and compiling that.
Here is what I did:

- Open a new terminal
- sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
- wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
- tar -xjf broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
- cd broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0/kmod
- sudo b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware wl_apsta.o
- Close the terminal and reboot

This tutorial (or something like it) was found at
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 .
NOTE: This driver will only work on Linux kernel 2.6.24 or older. To find out
what kernel version you have, type `uname -r` into a terminal. As of the time
of writing, Hardy Heron (8.04) uses 2.6.24, so unless you have manually
installed a newer kernel, the above tutorial will work for you.

Enjoy your wireless!

[Bug 376193] Re: [upstream] Cannot print double-sided on HP Officejet

2009-08-03 Thread Jag Dragon
I can replicate this: I cannot print in both draft and duplex mode at
the same time, my printer prints most (95%) of the first page, then
terminates the job. Printing duplex with Normal mode (not draft) works.

I tested this with a 3-page Gedit document.
I am using Ubuntu 9.04, 32 bit, all updates (as of 03/08/2009)
I have an HP Photosmart C8180, and I am connecting to it purely across the
network (it is not piggybacked onto another computer).

I found this line by using `grep segfault < /var/log/messages`:

What version(s) did it correctly? May the quoted statement have been an
error?

Will the issue be addressed one day?

Despite the fact that there isn't much mention of the 'Math' component

relevant "agents" concerning the standing of free and open software.

Great.

SORRY. I had forgotten about a former visit to this thread, and had missed the
mentioned comment by Regina.
Anyway I couldn't test with the two builds she mentioned, and my test with
V5.0.2.2.release (32 bit PortableApp on Win 10; version before the claimed
change) showed the issue in exactly the same way as the "Bad rendering since
2015_08_12" in Regina's comparison did.

I appreciate Regina's contributions, of course. I'm also glad that
contributions by the teacher I am would be welcome. Unfortunately I
completely lack the needed knowledge about fonts and many related
topics. Being 75 now I also cannot expect to find my way inside the
labyrinth which C-code in general and the code base of a huge project

Title:
This is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive, or a faulty hard
disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower
speed, to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often
available from electronics suppliers), to check whether the hard disk
is old and in need of replacement, or to move the system to a cooler
  environment.
