[Bug 502318] Re: system crashes. On boot, fsck gives inode *** part of an orphaned list.
i have run a memtest and my memory is fine. I did some more diagnostics and here is what i found. Whenever this happens, if i run dmesg i get an EXT4-fs error: Inode *** was part of an orphaned inode list. where *** is some number. The next line in dmesg states that the filesystem has been marked readonly. When i reboot, i have to manually run fsck and fix some errors. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- system crashes. [Bug 423934] Re: [Acer, inc. Aspire 5050] suspend/resume failure
i think i have stumbled upon a fix to the issue, looking at the logs it looks like it suspends fine but resumes with a blank screen. This is a bug in Xorg and to resolve it u need to get jaunty versions of the packages xserver-xorg-video-ati and xserver-xorg-video-radeon. Install them using dpkg -i --force-downgrade . [Bug 502318] [NEW] system crashes. On boot, fsck gives inode *** part of an orphaned list.
Public bug reported: My system often suddenly becomes unusable. Any gnome application that i open only has the window borders but its blank internally. I can click on controls that are not visible in the window, so i press restart from the panel and a blank window appears. I can click on restart now because i know the positioning of the control. On restart, i get a root shell and i am asked to run fsck manually. It gives me a error the inode *** was part of an orphaned inode list. The numbers at *** are typically 608,609,610 and some other numbers. I can fix these errors and another restart gives me usable system. But the same thing happens arbitrarily after some time. It has started after i upgraded to karmic but not just after i upgraded. I moved to ext4 when i installed jaunty. I dont know if its a problem of the hard disk or the filesystem. [Bug 617823] [NEW] Add apport bug reporting support in sugar
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sugar-emulator-0.88 Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release: 10.10 Package version: 0.88.1-2ubuntu1 Feature Request: Add apport bug reporting support in sugar-automatic crash reporting and little icon in the frame to report bugs. Apport is a system which * intercepts crashes right when they happen the first time, * gathers potentially useful information about the crash and the OS environment, * can be automatically invoked for unhandled exceptions in other programming languages * can be automatically invoked for other problems that can be automatically detected (e. g. Ubuntu automatically detects and reports package installation/upgrade failures from update-manager), * presents a UI that informs the user about the crash and instructs them on how to proceed, * is able to file non-crash bug reports about software, so that developers still get information about package versions, OS version etc. ** Affects: sugar-0.88 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Add apport bug reporting support in sugar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617823 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1189017] [NEW] computer suspends though there is a remote ssh connection
Public bug reported: when power management mechanism is enabled; computer goes to suspend mode despite it has remote ssh connection or remote desktop connection(xrdp or xvnc). for example if I have configured to suspend after 5 mins of idle, although computer has remote sessions it goes to suspend if the local session has been idle for 5 mins. so that remote ssh session or remote desktop session crashes(in remote machine). then we have to turn on again the machine using H/W switch or Wake On LAN. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1189017 Title: computer suspends though there is a remote ssh connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1189017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 52914] Re: Lack of visual feedback on password entry
I have been with Ubuntu since the begining and I have no problem with this at all. My observation is non technical uses are really confused with this setting. For a server os this might not be a poblem but as a Desktop OS variant this kind of usability issues can be eliminated easily and it might save some time of both users and help desk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52914 Title: Lack of visual feedback on password entry To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shadow/+bug/52914/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
