[Bug 1473613] [NEW] blank updates screen
Public bug reported: The "Software Updater" screen pops up telling me theres updated software, but nothing is listed in the software box or the technical/description boxes. Everything is just blank. So I go ahead and "install", it does some stuff, and then goes back to the screen again. I use the terminal for upgrades 99% of the time with apt update and apt upgrade and apt dist-upgrade and that will install updates fine. But still I get this software updates window every once in a while. I have attached a picture. Im running xubuntu 15.04. ** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "update.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1473613/+attachment/4427662/+files/update.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1473613 Title: blank updates screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1473613/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1440012] Re: The cursor disappears on the top of the screen
I tried using the mamarley ppa with no luck. it would not install nvidia-349. Secondly I also tried using the xorg edgers ppa for 349, again with no luck. After installing driver 349, my laptop reboots and the cpu freezes. Cannot get to a shell or anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440012 Title: The cursor disappears on the top of the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/1440012/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1440012] Re: The cursor disappears on the top of the screen
I finally remedied the problem, using the xorg-edgers ppa. This is what I did - 1. sudo apt-add-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa 2. sudo apt-get update 3. goto additional drivers and select driver 349.16 4. reboot 5. goto software/updates and goto the "Other Software" tab and UNCHECK the xorg-edgers ppa. I DID NOT PURGE THIS PPA. The reason why I nixed this ppa is because after selecting driver 349, the software updater would try to pull in other updates from the xorg- edgers ppa which kept crashing my system. This allowed me to keep the driver 349 and not pull in any other updates. If you do a ppa-purge, it will also nix the driver, hence why i just unchecked it in the sources tab.
