[Bug 1051938] Re: Android ADB driver needs root
This bug is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /android-tools/+bug/1132523 filed under the same project. Both bugs are the result of a single problem and a solution would solve both of them. The problem is that the udev rule created by android-tools in /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android-rules.rules assigns GROUP="adbusers".This is a nonexistant group. I solved the bug by changing the GROUP="adbusers" entries to GROUP="plugdev". I'm attaching the fixed /lib/udev/rules.d/51-android-rules.rules file. According to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1132523, an alternative would be to create a 'postinst' script in 'android-rules' package to run the command groupadd -r adbusers This is the ideal method, but i haven't tested it. The latest rules 70-android-rules-adb.rules in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr's development version of android-tools-adb contain entirely different rules. They seem to contain fixes for mtp,mass-storage mode when used with usb-debugging. ** Attachment added: "51-android-rules.rules fix" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1051938/+attachment/3917621/+files/51-android-rules.rules -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1051938 Title: Android ADB driver needs root To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1051938/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1132523] Re: android-tools-adb udev script uses unknow group
The bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android- tools/+bug/1051938 is a side effect of this bug. Solving this would solve the other bug too. I used a workaround by replacing GROUP="adbusers" with an already existing GROUP="plugdev" and solved https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1051938. I'd prefer adding adbusers group, but in case of any technical difficulty in doing so,this can be used as a workaround. However, this bug seems to be already fixed as per the 70-android-tools- adb.rule in Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr's development version of android- tools-adb package http://launchpadlibrarian.net/152349346/android-tools- adb_4.2.2%2Bgit20130218-3ubuntu16_amd64.deb. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1132523 Title: android-tools-adb udev script uses unknow group To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools/+bug/1132523/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg
I can't believe that this bug started in Oneiric(maybe even before that) and it's still not fixed after Raring (as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/913933 ). Ubuntu Software Center is a core feature of Ubuntu distribution and yet such a bug which affects its usability is left unnoticed! Why can't it just follow the system theme instead of using hardcoded colors. Some Dark Theme developers have found workarounds involving replacing the softwarecenter.css with custom versions. One such fix by Delorean Dark theme developer is attached here. It is optimised for Dark Themes and works fine with light ones too. I don't know if it works perfectly with light themes, but it does try to use current theme colors instead of hardcoded ones, atleast in some places. ** Attachment added: "Delorean Dark's Software Center fix for Dark Themes" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/899878/+attachment/3892155/+files/softwarecenter.css -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899878 Title: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The fixed 𝐣𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲 package is in Ubuntu 12.04LTS "Precise"'s 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒅 repo for almost one and half years! See: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey I already tested 𝐣𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐲 from precise-proposed on linux-generic-lts- trusty on 3.13 kernel : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/13 . Additionally @fourdollars and me tested it on linux-generic-lts-saucy 3.11 kernel too: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/12 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/comments/6 So, I think all the necessary testing's been already done. [Bug 1051938] Re: Android ADB driver needs root
This bug's been fixed on newer Ubuntu releases. From 𝐔𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐮 𝟏𝟒.𝟎𝟒𝐋𝐓𝐒 "Trusty" and up adb works 'out of the box' on most devices. adb is made part of android-tools source package and is available from Ubuntu repos: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/android-tools . adb can be installed by the following command: sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb This package installs /lib/udev/rules.d/70-android-tools-adb.rules for udeb to recognise android devices in adb mode. So, there's no need to use root for devices to get recognised in adb anymore. [Bug 1132523] Re: android-tools-adb udev script uses unknow group
android-tools-adb package in 𝐔𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐮 𝟏𝟒.𝟎𝟒𝐋𝐓𝐒 and newer Ubuntu releases uses a structurally different /lib/udev/rules.d/70-android-tools- adb.rules file with no reference to "adbusers","plugdev" or any other group. [Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg
@octoquad , I downloaded the modified files from your branch http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~octoquad/software-center/899878-hardcoded- colors-dark-theme/revision/3326 and used them to directly replace the corresponding files in `/usr/share/software-center/*` . I wouldn't normally replace files like this, but Ubuntu 14.04LTS and 15.10 use the same version of Software Center except for some patches (See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center ). Then for testing dark theme, I copied `/usr/share/software- center/ui/gtk3/css/softwarecenter.adwaita-dark.css` and renamed the copy to `softwarecenter.numix bluo-dark.css`, coz Numix Bluo (a custom mod of Numix theme) is my current GTK theme. Then I opened Software Center and it loaded the dark theme! 😊 But wait, the color was a bit grey coz of the old `stipple.png`. So, I tried @bsperger 's transparent stipple from https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/comments/37 but for some reason it crashes Software Center. 😞 So, I tried the one from https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/comments/40 and exported it to PNG using GIMP. Software Center loads it fine, but results were similar to the 4th case (transparent stipple with custom css) from https://bugs.launchpad.net/software- center/+bug/899878/comments/39 . So, like in the 5th case, I edited `/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/ui/gtk3/views/catview.py` and reduced alpha to 0.1 and then it looked well! So on the whole, the patch looks compatible with 14.04LTS's Software Center and so I request a backport through an SRU update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899878 Title: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/software-center/+bug/899878/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1363686] Re: conky-all is not available in the Utopic repositories
Why isn't this bug marked as 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 yet? As of version 1.9.0-5 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒌𝒚-𝒂𝒍𝒍 source package got integrated into 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒌𝒚 source package. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/conky . As a result, the same 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒌𝒚 source package now provides both conky-std and conky-all as two separate binary packages. This was a change from upstream Debian. See https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/conky . This makes it easier to maintain the two binary packages and also prevents previous bugs when they were built from different conky versions. Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid" and up come with conky 1.9.0-6 or newer and as a result provides the conky-all package. Besides Ubuntu 14.10 is aready EOL'd. So there's nothing in this bug to fix anymore and I'm marking it as "Fix Released". ** Changed in: conky-all (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1363686 Title: conky-all is not available in the Utopic repositories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/conky-all/+bug/1363686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed
I did the test case on my Ubuntu 12.04.4 with linux-generic-lts-saucy kernel 3.11.0-18. I didn't install linux-generic-lts-trusty as instructed in the SRU test case coz brcmsmac works good for all kernels above v3.10 which includes the saucy kernel too. So, I installed jockey and jockey-common version 0.9.7-0ubuntu7.15 and ran the following command: jockey-text --auto-install It didn't install bcmwl-kernel-source. So, iguess this solves the problem. But, i still have to test with the updated kernel. [Bug 1306928] Re: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed
@bryandeng Ubuntu 14.04 uses the package 'ubuntu-drivers-common' instead of 12.04's 'jockey'. That is why jockey and 'ubuntu-drivers-common' are marked invalid for Trusty and Precise respectively. You shouldn't have changed it. I'm also using BCM4313 which from 3.10 kernel onwards works better with the open source brcmsmac driver in kernel. No need to install 'linux-firmware-nonfree'. Doing lspci shows b43 in my case too, but I don't know if it should be blacklisted. ** Changed in: jockey (Ubuntu Trusty) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306928 Title: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1306928] [NEW] Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed
Public bug reported: The propreitory driver Broadcom STA (packaged as 'bcmwl-kernel-source', provides 'wl' kernel module) gets autoinstalled upon Ubuntu 12.04.4 installation on systems with Broadcom BCM4313 (14e4:4727) wireless cards. Upto Ubuntu 12.04.3 with 3.8 kernel, this was good behaviour. But, with 3.11 kernel used in Ubuntu 13.10 and Ubuntu 12.04.4, the official open source 'brcmsmac' driver had improved (with the newly implemented AdHoc and AP mode, and other improvements) over propreitory 'wl'. On newer kernel versions, 'brcmsmac' works better than 'wl'. Autoinstalling the 'wl' driver would actually be a "downgrade" of functionality. I understand that there are some cards work only with 'wl', but it's better not to do autoinstall of 'bcmwl-kernel-source' on the ones supported by 'brcmsmac'. It maybe offered on the jockey Additional Drivers list, though I don't see any reason why anyone would prefer 'wl' over 'brcmsmac' now. I don't know if this issue remains on Ubuntu 14.04LTS's jockey merged with 'ubuntu-drivers' package. But, if it does that has to be fixed too. I hope this issue is fixed soon, so that Ubuntu 12.04.5 is released with the fixed jockey. ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 12.04.4 ** Tags added: 12.04.4 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306928 Title: Broadcom STA driver gets autoinstalled on BCM4313, where it's no longer needed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/1306928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg
I tried both default themes Radiance and Ambience in Ubuntu 12.04 to check if they work well with killhellokitty's CSS file. Everything seems to be okay, except for selected items' text color in list view. Both background and foreground are light colors. this is because the CSS file was designed for dark themes. ideally software center should show dark text with light background and light text on dark themes. killhellokitty's css theme is better than the default one, but needs a little more work to be the ideal theme.

[Bug 1306608] Re: Unity global menu "delays" actions in a gtk2 app
On running VisualBoyAdvance-M's GTK frontend (vbam-gtk) on Ubuntu 14.04LTS, the menu doesn't respond if a ROM is already loaded and being emulated. I tried with both global menu and LIM, both had the same problem. However, like @sergio-br2 mentioned, menu work with legacy GTK2 menus. Surprisingly, Ubuntu 12.04's Unity 5 has no problem with vbam-gtk's global menu! So, this seems to be a bug that creeped in somewhere between Unity 6 (Ubuntu 12.10) and Unity 7.2 (Ubuntu 14.04LTS). 'vbam' will be replacing 'visualboyadvance' in the Debian repo (See bug #378561 and http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=541157), coz the former is the most actively maintained fork of the latter which is now inactive.
