2011-12-05 Thread Gary Timuss

I experience this bug with alsa-base 1.0.22.1+dfsg-0ubuntu3 and linux-
backports-modules-alsa-lucid-generic (2.6.32-36). Removing linux-
backports-modules-alsa clears the problem, although in that case the
microphone input on my sound card does not work.

[Bug 435958] Re: acerhdf: unknown (unsupported) BIOS version

2011-06-29 Thread Gary Timuss
Further to my comment #25, I was mistaken. The correct facts are:
acerhdf v0.5.22 does not include 1810T/v.1.3314
acerhdf v0.5.22 is included in maverick, both 2.6.35-30 and 2.6.35-28
Was working for me in 2.6.35-28 as I had manually downloaded v0.5.24 from
http://www.piie.net/?section=acerhdf
I've now downloaded v0.5.25 and build for me, so I'm working again.

For comment #24, I confirm that Acer 531 support with v0.5.24 (natty) is v0.3201
and even v0.5.25 only has v0.3201 and v0.3304. I've not checked what was
included with karmic, but going to
http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1110 (click on
BIOS) doesn't list 0.3111, but then again acer.com support doesn't claim to
have a ZG8 either but a 531h instead

[Bug 677555] Re: banshee unable to stream audio for more than a few minutes

2011-04-18 Thread Gary Timuss
I experience the same problem and have monitored output with --debug

There may well be two issues here.

In my environment, I have highly variable bandwidth.

When bandwidth drops below that needed to maintain the stream rate, once
the buffer has been exhausted, the player pauses the stream and tries to
refill the buffer.

Sometimes the buffer gets up to 99.0% and then just stays there,
eventually the stream drops out. That behaviour may well be a bug, as
my network doesn't stop altogether, but what comes through to banshee
does stop.

The problem could be substantially mitigated if the buffer size were
configurable.
