[Bug 502222] [NEW] Webcam 04f2:b070 detected but crashes shows 'test video' and crashes WiFi device

2010-01-01 Thread Firefly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cheese

On Toshiba Satellite L300D running Ubuntu 9.10 with or without backports and
proposed repos, the internal webcam is detected, see these outputs :
$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04f2:b070 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd
$ lsmod | grep video
uvcvideo 59080 0

v4l1_compat14496 2 uvcvideo,videodev
video 19380 0
output 2780 1 video
$ ls /dev | grep video
video0

When launching cheese -v (or any other software using this webcam) :
Cheese 2.28.1
Probing devices with HAL...
Found device 04f2:b070, getting capabilities...
Detected v4l2 device: CNF7051
Driver: uvcvideo, version: 256

Probing supported video formats...

And then, I get the "test" video.
In the same time, output of dmesg :
[ 296.064515] ehci_hcd :00:13.5: force halt; handhake f8058424 4000

disassociating

Nothing in syslog, and the WiFi card doesn't work anymore until reboot.
This only happens when trying to use the webcam.

Also, this bug has been met by other users on
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8593091 though it hasn't been
solved for me, even with backports and proposed repos.

[Bug 2067126] [NEW] GIMP crashing on close if there's an unsaved image

2024-05-24 Thread Rob T Firefly
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 24.04, GIMP 2.10.36-3build3

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open any image in GIMP and make any change to the image
2. Click the X button on the window titlebar to close the program
3. On the "There is one image with unsaved changes:" popup click "Discard
changes"

Expected behavior: The program exits normally.

Actual behavior: GIMP crashes, and gives the "GIMP Crash Debug" popup
with debug data. On next start the "Image Recovery" popup happens
offering to recover the last-used image.

This only happens when using the titlebar X button to close GIMP.
Exiting the program with File -> Quit and clicking "Discard Changes"
does not trigger the crash.

Debug data pasted below.

[Bug 857175] [NEW] i2c-i801 kernel module needlessly blacklisted

2011-09-23 Thread Peter Firefly Brodersen Lund
Public bug reported:

I recently got an old but still very nice Thinkpad T41 with 1.5GB RAM.

'decode-dimms' can't see the DRAM EEPROMs without the i2c-i801 kernel
module. That module doesn't load automatically because it is
blacklisted in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. When I load it manually
with 'modprobe i2c-i801', everything works. (I apparently have a 512MB
Samsung and a 1024MB Kingston, both PC2700.)

My Thinkpad T41 is not the only laptop to be hit by that blacklist (Fujitsu
Esprimo Mobile U9200):
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.drivers.i2c/9120

It seems to have been blacklisted because of a suspend issue on an HP Compaq
NC6000 (Ubuntu bug #10306).
(For some reason that bug seems to be about apt?! I have tried to find the
original bug in Launchpad but I couldn't.)

I can confirm that suspend/resume works just as well with i2c-i801 loaded as
without it, i.e. perfectly.
I can also confirm that hibernate/resume doesn't work without i2c-i801 loaded.
I haven't tested /with/ the module but I don't expect it to magically work
/with/ the module when it doesn't /without/.

---

I used 'ubuntu-bug linux' to gather information about my system in case
you need it.

Also, I don't know if the bug should be assigned to 'lm-sensors' or
'linux' or maybe some other package: it affects the lm-sensors package
but it has to be fixed in the 'module-init-tools' package and the
i2c-i801.ko module is in 'linux-image-'.
