[Bug 236371] [NEW] IMAP message deletion flawed

2008-05-31 Thread Donnie Pennington
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution totally ignores the trash setup users already have on their
IMAP servers. The messages Evolution supposedly flags for deletion are
not ever moved to the appropriate trash folder on the IMAP server even
though in the Evolution client they show up in a 'Trash' folder that
shows up in the folder list for that server - but that folder really
doesn't exist on the server and the messages are still sitting in the
IMAP server's inbox and not in the designated IMAP server trash folder.
The whole point of IMAP is that everything is handled on the server so
that the user can access that account from anywhere with any client -
web or otherwise - and stuff just works. Evolution is somehow trying to
"own" IMAP message deletion to the exclusion of other clients accessing
the same account.

[Bug 342850] [NEW] Totem plays some but not all QuickTime

2009-03-14 Thread Donnie Pennington
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

Totem and totem-mozilla do play some QuickTime fine, such as:
http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/walle/hydrant_small.html
So this shouldn't be a codec issue.

However, totem will not play this one, claiming there's no plugin. I've tried
it both within firefox and in freestanding totem with the same result.

[Bug 129109] Re: [gutsy tribe 3] screen brightness meter randomly displays on macbook

2007-07-30 Thread Donnie Pennington
I think this is the same issue I'm experiencing. It's not just MacBook
and not just after an obvious triggering event. It pops up when I'm on
a/c as well as on battery. It usually appears when I first move the
mouse after a few minutes of reading. And I do not have display dimming
enabled on either a/c or battery. And I even went into gconf editor and
unchecked the enable key for ambient brightness adjustments (which has
been speculated in forums as the problem). Nothing I've tried works.
I'm on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.

[Bug 129109] Re: [gutsy tribe 3] screen brightness meter randomly displays on macbook

2007-07-31 Thread Donnie Pennington
Further symptoms: I'm running on the battery right now (dimming not
enabled) and the meter keeps popping up but the meter progress bar is
blank - as if the display were 100% dimmed. So I tested the brightness
with the keyboard controls and it turns the display is in fact fully
dimmed. But, again, I rechecked the preferences and dimming is not
enabled - either a/c or battery.

[Bug 129109] Re: [gutsy tribe 3] screen brightness meter randomly displays on macbook

2007-08-02 Thread Donnie Pennington
Update: Yesterday (8/1/2007) I was on the computer most of the day and
never saw said meter once. This morning (8/2/2007) after installing
updates the meter has returned with a vengeance. Every few minutes it
pops back up. I'm running on a/c and dimming is not enabled, nor does
the appearance of the meter actually dim anything. I also rechecked my
ambient settings in gconf. 'Dim policy' is 'none' and 'enable' box is
not checked.

[Bug 121439] Re: [Gutsy]Network Manager Applet can't connect wireless with ipw3945 driver

2007-08-07 Thread Donnie Pennington
I also can confirm it still doesn't work. In fact prior to today's
gutsy update I was able to connect to my wireless network (WEP) although
it was way slow. But now I cannot connect wireless at all (Intel 3945).
Tried several workarounds and reboots and the result is always the same.
The gray balls spin, never go green, and seem to be stuck on my WEP
network. I try to click on open networks that show up in the list and
it stays stuck on my network, and it also won't let me select wired
network after I plug in ethernet. Also: nm-applet crashed immediately
after installing the last gutsy update. I wasn't even able to get
ethernet going until I reinstalled network-manager and network-manager-
gnome.
