[Bug 1870929] [NEW] Display Scaling causes monitors to sleep

2020-04-05 Thread Chris Ferguson
Public bug reported:

Default install of Focal Fossa 20.04 Beta downloaded April 4, 2020.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Settings
2. Navigate to Displays.
3. In Scale section, select `200%`
4. Click Apply
Expected behavior: Screens refresh with a 200% scale applied and a dialog to
confirm.
Error encountered: Screens switch to "power saving mode" (go blank). After
about 15 seconds, they wake up in the original 100% scale mode.

Other notes:
I have done this successfully with 18.04 on the exact same hardware (different
hard drive partitions) in the past after installing NVidia drivers.
I have successfully rearranged the monitors in Settings and changed the Primary
Display in Settings with this install.

[Bug 1870929] Re: Display Scaling causes monitors to sleep

2020-04-05 Thread Chris Ferguson
Additional notes (forgot to add to original report).

nVidia RTX 2070
Dual monitor setup.
Monitors connected through StarTech KVM over DisplayPort cables.

I did not have the KVM when I used 18.04

Successfully adjusted monitor resolutions (from 3840x2160 to 2560x1440).

[Bug 1870929] Re: Display Scaling causes monitors to sleep

Looking over the log, I noticed this message occurs 4 times since the install:
`gnome-shell[]: Getting invalid resource scale property`

[Bug 1870929] Re: Display Scaling causes monitors to sleep

2020-04-05 Thread Chris Ferguson
I did another test, capturing the exact event window. Attachment
journalctl_limited_log.exe, 20:54:04 is the timestamp when I clicked
Apply. I believe 20:54:25 is the timestamp the monitors woke from
sleep.

[Bug 1870758] Re: [nvidia] Fractional scaling results in monitor power save state

2020-04-06 Thread Chris Ferguson
I would suggest changing the summary back to just "Screen Scaling" or
"Display Scaling". When I encountered this issue, I did not enable
fractional scaling.

Attached is a snapshot of my journalctl log (copied from bug #1870929).
20:54:04 is the timestamp when I clicked Apply. I believe 20:54:25 is
the timestamp the monitors woke from sleep.

[Bug 1235034] [NEW] gvfs-mount doesn't accept creds from keyring

2013-10-03 Thread Chris Ferguson
Public bug reported:

Trying to use gvfs-mount (in a script) to mount a password protected
windows share that has the creds saved in the keyring.

It will first bring up the prompt to enter the keyring password; once
entered, it will still prompt for creds to the resource.

However, cancelling (by CTRL+C) and running the command again does not
prompt for creds and succeeds (expected behavior).

[Bug 1235034] Re: gvfs-mount doesn't accept creds from keyring

2013-10-04 Thread Chris Ferguson
Update, same thing happens when trying it from Caja (using the "Connect
to Server..." option):

Enter server info without entering username and password and hit
connect. It will prompt for keyring password; once entered it will tell
you to verify user credentials on the connect to server dialog. If you
cancel, and try again, it will succeed without the keyring prompt.
