[Bug 67443] Re: Progress bar is invisible

2007-04-18 Thread Cd-MaN
Modifying the engine also worked for me. I also tried to play with the
setting "progressbarstyle" when the engine was ubuntulooks, but it had
no effect. Two more things: the engine switching is a much better
solution for me than reducing color depth because rdesktop kept crashing
at 16 bit color depth and it is engine "ubuntulooks", not engine
ubuntulooks (this might be useful for the people searching through the
file).

[Bug 67443] Re: Progress bar is invisible

2007-04-18 Thread Cd-MaN
I just observed that while switching to clearlooks solved my horizontal
progress bars, it broke my vertical ones (like the one used in the
volume control) which worked fine before now (meaning that the portion
under the slider was colored), however they don't any more. This is not
such a big problem since the slider button itself can give visual
feedback on the position, but I thought that I should mention it.

I have a ATi Radeon 9200 video card and I too had this problem with the

the live cd and when running it for the HDD. The 16 bit color depth hack
worked for me too.

[Bug 443131] Re: volume control mute when volume is lower than 21%

2009-10-25 Thread Cd-MaN
I have the same problem, but only with some applications (perhaps the
pulseaudio - alsa bridge is the cause?). Concrete example:

- Installed Ubuntu 9.10 daily build from around two weeks ago
- fully updated
- soundcard: Dell Inspiron 9400 built-in

When I set a volume lower than ~20%, all sounds from Firefox (like a
youtube video playing) are muted (ie. it jumps from quite loud to none).

I am able to control the volume in a more gradual way both from inside
the browser (ie. what the flash player offers) and from the
"Applications" pane in the "Sound preferences" dialog. However the
multimedia shortcut keys are bound to the main volume control, which
makes this problem annoying.

[Bug 460334] [NEW] empathy volume control doesn't show up in the "Applications" tab of "Sound preferences"

2009-10-25 Thread Cd-MaN
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Using Ubuntu 9.10 (a daily build from ~2 weeks ago, fully updated) with
Empathy 2.28.1, empathy doesn't show up in the "Applications" tab of the
"Sound Preferences" dialog for pulse audio. Maybe this is because
empathy closes the sound output after each sound? This is annoying,
because I would have liked to set a lower volume for the notifications.
Currently I just disabled them entirely.

[Bug 1577629] [NEW] Problems with gpe06 interrupt storm on a 2016 Macbook Pro

2016-05-02 Thread Cd-MaN
Public bug reported:

I also reported this upstream
(https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117481), just reporting
this here so that the upstream fix does not get lost in the noise:

Symptoms:

- With a freshly installed Ubuntu 16.04 (but also occurs using the live CD/USB)
on a 2016 Macbook Pro (hardware version MacBookPro11,2) CPU core is 80-90%
pegged with kworker:
12772 root 20 0 0 0 0 R 84,1 0,0 15:37.79 kworker/0:6

- When doing grep . -r /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/ I see a lot of interrupts
on gpe06:
/sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe06:222309848 enabled

- Disabling gpe06 frees up the core without any noticeable side-effects:
# echo disable > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe06

I put the above in the root crontab with @reboot which solved the
problem for me for now.

[Bug 1501854] [NEW] mod_proxy_uwsgi doesn't work with unix domain sockets

2015-10-01 Thread Cd-MaN
Public bug reported:

If I specify "ProxyPass unix:/run/uwsgi/app/site/socket|uwsgi://" (this
is inside of a location block, so need for the initial path) I will get
"error parsing URL //: Invalid host/port" in the apache logs when I try
to access that URL. If I try to change the final part (ie. "|uwsgi://"
to "|uwsgi://localhost/"), it just tries to connect through TCP.

The problem is fixed (at least for me) by the patch from the mailing
list: http://lists.unbit.it/pipermail/uwsgi/2015-September/008185.html
(I also let Debian know about this, so perhaps the fix will come from
upstream - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=752783#35).

There is also a workaround: use "vanilla" mod_proxy_http over unix
domain sockets:

ProxyPass "/foo" "unix:/var/run/uwsgi/foo.socket|http://uwsgi-uds-foo/";

PS. Apparently, if you have multiple instances of uwsgi you want to
connect to, you need to specify different names for them (ie. "http
://uwsgi-uds-foo/", "http://uwsgi-uds-bar/";, etc), having just
different paths to the sockets will not work.

[Bug 1071722] Re: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup

2014-11-04 Thread Cd-MaN
I seem to have the same problem. I have a HP EliteBook 840 G1 with two
external dell monitors (one horizontal and one vertical - rotated
counter clockwise - although I don't think that has anything to do with
it since I tried to set them all horizontal and the coursors were still
doubled).

The "main" cursor is correctly aligned and the "shadow" cursor is the
arrow one rotated 90deg counter clockwise. The shadow cursor dissapears
once the monitor are disconnected (they are connected through a docking
station - the landscape one using VGA and the vertical one using HDMI).
Also, the shadow cursor doesn't show on the middle (vertical, connected
through HDMI) monitor.

[Bug 1047762] Re: java-6-openjdk-amd64 + Eclipse not working

2012-09-13 Thread Cd-MaN
Hello,

I would like to confirm a couple of things:

- this affects both JDK 6 and 7. The exact versions I have are (I'm running
Ubuntu 12.04 on x64 hardware)
7u7-2.3.2-1ubuntu0.12.04.1
6b24-1.11.4-1ubuntu0.12.04.1

- this reproduces with both Eclipse 3.7 and 4.2. I attached the error
log from Eclipse 4.2. My exacy symptoms were: when trying to create a
new Debug/Run configuration Eclipse would give me the error:

Plug-in org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui was unable to load class
org.eclipse.jdt.internal.debug.ui.launcher.LocalJavaApplicationTabGroup.
An error occurred while automatically activating bundle
org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui (146).

- Either of the following things fix the bug for me:

adding -Dcom.ibm.icu.util.TimeZone.DefaultTimeZoneType=ICU at the end of
eclipse.ini
reinstalling tzdata as suggested above

Thank you,
Attila

[Bug 626728] Re: typing error in default-ssl

2012-07-17 Thread Cd-MaN
While this regex works (kind of - it also matches MSIE 1, but that
should be a negligable minority) I would like to propose the following
regex which is clearer (imho):

BrowserMatch "MSIE (?:[7-9]|\d{2,})" ssl-unclean-shutdown

[Bug 1020189] [NEW] pgbouncer doesn't create needed directories if postgres is not installed

2012-07-02 Thread Cd-MaN
Public bug reported:

If postgres is not installed on the machine pgbouncer doesn't create the
/var/run/postgresql directory and fails to launch with the following
error message in the log:

WARNING Cannot listen on unix:/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.6432: bind(): No
such file or directory
FATAL @src/main.c:541 in function write_pidfile():
/var/run/postgresql/pgbouncer.pid: No such file or directory [2]

My solution was to create the directory manually and assign it the
proper ownership:

sudo mkdir /var/run/postgresql
sudo chown -R postgres /var/run/postgresql
sudo chgrp -R postgres /var/run/postgresql

[Bug 1029504] Re: System freezes randomly

2012-11-01 Thread Cd-MaN
This seems to affect me as well. The symptoms: under heavy load (while
chrome is running, although I'm not sure it's related) the disk light
starts be on constantly (rather than flashing) and after 2-3 minutes
without disk access the computer freezes completely.

Some more details:
Linux cdman-BIG 3.2.0-32-generic #51-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 26 21:33:09 UTC 2012
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Dell XPS 17 L702x, IntelĀ® CoreTM i7-2760QM 2.40GHz, 8GB, SSD 256GB, Blu-
Ray, nVidia GeForce GT 555M 3GB

Using Gnome 3 and bumblebee. Let me know what additional details would
help investigate this issue. In my syslog I see (which is how I found
this bugreport):

[Bug 707311] Re: /etc/cron.daily/popularity-contest don't run due to missing/etc/popularity-contest.conf

2012-11-27 Thread Cd-MaN
For what it's worth: this still happened on a less-than-a-week old EC2
micros instance with with 12.04.1. I'm not sure what the process for
getting this fix into the image is (should I have chosen a different
image when spinning up the instance?) but I thought I report it.

The fix is (as root):

echo > /etc/popularity-contest.conf
dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest

[Bug 360818] Re: NetworkManager.vpn fails -- nm-vpn-connection.c.900: NeedSecrets

2011-05-20 Thread Cd-MaN
Hello everybody,

I can confirm that the problem still happens with 11.04, as follows:
- on first installation of network-manager-vpnc I can't connect to the VPN, and
I get the error "Failed because there were no valid VPN secrets"
- after reboot it works

Explanation in commend #27 (bus policy changes only get applied after
reboot in ubuntu) seems to make sense to me. This problem happened to me
since 10.04 at least. network-manager-vpnc package version:
0.8.1+git.20110207t151002.6a2b2d6-0ubuntu2

[Bug 450684] Re: html5 ogg media does not resume reliably after buffering

2010-07-06 Thread Cd-MaN
I think I have a similar problem:

I open an ogg file (for example:
http://audio.lugradio.org/shotofjaq/shotofjaq_ubuntusoftwarecenterreview.ogg)
in a tag.
It starts to play.
I hit pause and leave it to load.
Then I try to hit play, and I would expect for it to start playing, since it
has been completely buffered, however it fails to do so.

[Bug 1768799] Re: Java can't connect to https sites

2018-05-13 Thread Cd-MaN via ubuntu-bugs
I can confirm that this affects a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04. Steps
to reproduce:

- install Ubuntu 18.04. Fully update it
- install "default-jdk" (sudo apt install default-jdk)
- try running the very simple attached program which tries to retrieve
"https://www.google.com";
- it fails with javax.net.ssl.SSLException (see the complete stacktrace in the
attachment)

Workaround: remove default-jdk, install openjdk-8, remove openjdk-8 and
reinstall default-jdk:

sudo apt purge openjdk-default java-common
sudo apt purge default-jdk java-common
sudo apt install openjdk-8-jre
sudo apt purge openjdk-8-jre
sudo apt install default-jdk
