[Bug 256724] [NEW] s-video out only black and white on ntsc tv

2008-08-10 Thread Bryan Moore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

lenovo thinkpad z61e
dual-boot windows xp and ubuntu 8.04.1 without gnome/kde/xfce, just openbox.
xserver-xorg-video intel version 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu13.6.

no matter what i set in xorg.conf or with xrandr, i can only get black &
white from my s-video out port. i've tried at least a dozen "fixes" i've
found, but to no avail. i've attached my xorg.conf.

i know it's not the s-video cable because color works fine in xp.

hope you can help.

[Bug 519583] Re: can't add, move, unlock applets & no clock

2010-02-10 Thread Bryan Moore
Sorry, I thought the answers to those questions were explained in the original
bug...
 1. Reproducible because it happens all the time.
 2. It can be recreated by trying to add, move, or unlock any of the
applets already on the gnome-panel.

I'm not sure how to mark my clock being missing... I can't reproduce or
recreate something that isn't there.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the info, Didier, it makes sense.

I'm toying with Gnome Shell and just can't seem to get things quite
right. To even further aggravate things, I autologin and never see gdm.

Once out of the UNE session, I *should* be able to set everything as I

NetworkManager nor wicd, opting to specifically define my environments
through /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. There have
been discussions on threads I've either started or to which I've
contributed (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1306855 and
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1300774), but none of the
suggested "fixes" have yielded any help.

[Bug 492965] [NEW] prism-google-mail won't display properly

2009-12-05 Thread Bryan Moore
Public bug reported:

As one can see in the screenshot attached to my original post in this

[Bug 362301] Re: ALL application windows only open in full-screen mode

2010-02-07 Thread Bryan Moore
I'm not entirely sure this is relevant, but my problem seems relative.
I'm running UNR 10.04 on an Asus EeePC-1005HA after a completely fresh
install. When I try to use gconf-editor to exclude my terminal, I get a
"key not writable" error. When I maneuver my way to ~/.gconf/apps, there
is no "maximus" directory, so I'm not sure where Maximus is getting it's
settings. Just to be on the safe-side, since I have a separate /home
partition which I did *not* reinstall, I deleted the ~/.gconf folder and
restarted. I am *still* unable to exclude my terminal from Maximus. Any
ideas what steps I can take to fix this?

[Bug 518626] [NEW] This Key Is Not Writable

2010-02-07 Thread Bryan Moore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf-editor

Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)

Whenever I try and change any number of things via gconf-editor, I'm
greeted with the "This key is not writable" warning. This is
particularly irritating for Maximus because I am trying to exclude the
terminal from being maximized. I've check in ~/.gconf/apps and there is
no Maximus folder, as I would expect, so I'm not sure where gconf-editor
is getting the list of programs it has for exclusion from Maximus.

Also, and possibly related, I cannot add anything to my panel.

If there's any additional info, let me know.

[Bug 502583] [NEW] Plymouth Fails to Show Splash at Boot, Shows at Shutdown

2010-01-03 Thread Bryan Moore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plymouth

Asus EeePC 1005HA, running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10, kernel
2.6.33-020633rc2-generic with KMS turned-on via i915.modeset=1, Plymouth
0.8.0~6, xserver-xorg-video-intel
2.9.99.902~git20091222.2c142e42-0ubuntu0sarvatt2~karmic.

I've jumped through all the necessary "hoops" to get KMS turned-on,
following both the Ubuntu Wiki suggestions for the Ubuntu and Debian
ways, but Plymouth still won't show a splash on startup; however, it
will show on shutdown, which leads me to believe it has a bug about
receiving the appropriate framebuffer resolution information.

I attempted to run an "ubuntu-bug plymouth," but was told Plymouth is
not an official Ubuntu package, so I can't provide any specific
information via that method.

[Bug 453374] Re: netbook-launcher doesn't use compiz backgrounds/wallpapers [karmic]

2009-12-27 Thread Bryan Moore
How is this a "Wishlist" item? If Compiz can be installed and used, all
its functionality should also be permitted, including, but not limited
to, Compiz wallpapers. Why isn't this as easy as going into gconf-editor

anything to do with the wallpaper anyway?

[Bug 1050237] Re: No wallpaper and windows leave trails, if ubuntu-default-settings overrides are not available

2012-09-15 Thread Bryan Moore
I can confirm, for me, installing ubuntu-desktop--which installs ubuntu-
settings--fixes this issue. I'm not sure how/when/why ubuntu-desktop was
uninstalled, but meh.

Simply add an account and every time you start Hotot, you will have to
either re-login to the account or--and this happens without rhyme or
reason--renew your token. Nothing special must be done to replicate this
bug. The previous version of Hotot did not have this issue.

It is unfortunate to see this is still happening. I'm forced to compile

each time--to my chagrin--it is not. How, exactly, is this not a
