[Bug 235773] Re: Virt-install fails on Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Dom0 (amd64)
Local Apache Simulated Mirrors provide an option to install PV DomUs in graphical mode for RH (F8,CentOS 5.X) & Suse (OpenSuse 11.X) xen enabled enabled distros at Ubuntu Hardy Dom0. View for details :- http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/110642/index.html http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/110728/index.html Technique mentioned above also works fine for the most recent Xen 3.3.1rc1 port to CentOS 5.2. http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/112300/index.html -- Virt-install fails on Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Dom0 (amd64) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235773 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 362691] Re: XEN depends on Python 2.5
PLease be aware of changeset 19594 in Xen Unstable http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-unstable.hg?rev/bf946cc3008b With this patch applied Xen Unstable been built on top of Ubuntu 9.04 Server with python 2.6 (or python 2.5) now is able to start xend daemon, but appears unable to start any DomU due to "Hotplug scripts failure to work". Kernel 2.6.30-rc3-tip (supporting Xen in Dom0) just sends one bakend driver's message to dmesg report and report output freeze. I am not python expert, but it seems like Python 2.6 ( 2.5 as well) setup is incorrect on 9.04. All issues described above disappear if Xen Unstable along with kernel 2.6.30-rc3-tip were built on top of Ubuntu 8.10 Server (Python 2.5). Suse's xen-ified kernel 2.6.27.5 behaves absolutely same way as pvops enabled kernel . -- XEN depends on Python 2.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362691 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I was running Jaunty Desktop. After porting Xen 3.3 via proposed i didn't find any kind of xenified kernel to load Dom0 and at the same time i saw that Hypervisor and tools got installed . [Bug 362691] Re: XEN depends on Python 2.5
Honestly, i don't see much sense in forward porting Xen 3.3 , because it doesn't support ( http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenParavirtOps) :- 1. The ability for the Xen hypervisor to load and boot bzImage pv_ops dom0 kernel 2. The ability for the Xen tools to use the sysfs memory ballooning support provided by pv_ops dom0 kernel Coming soon F11 (and even F10 in meantime) has Xen 3.3.1 with mentioned feature back ported from Xen Unstable (3.4). View for instance:- http://lxer.com/module/newswire/view/120005/index.html. [Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen-3.4 (3.4.0-2) from debian unstable
Packaging is a problem. Direct builds along with hg & git cloning was never problem on Ubuntu 9.10,9.04 Severs However, Xen Dom0 support or even just a recent Xen Hypervisor was NOT integrated in Ubuntu Karmic Koala Server, Ubuntu Jaunty Server. Moreover :- # apt-get install ubuntu-virt-server ubuntu-virt-mgmt put vitrt-install & virt-manager in work with Xen Hypervisor (with correspondingly modified /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp and setting Xen as preferred hypervisor via root's .bashrc ) On Ubuntu Karmic Koala Server :- Virt-install allows to install PV & HVM DomUs Virt-manager allows to install PV DomUs via HTTP sources ( local or remote) and manage any domain created via virt-install. virsh been compiled against libvirt 0.7.0 just fails to create DomUs when version of Xen goes to 4.0. That the reason when i keep 3.4.3 on development boxes. [Bug 216176] Re: Xen entries not working under grub2
Xen 3.4.1 Xen Dom0 ( with 2.6.31-rc5 pvops) was setup top of Ubuntu 9.10 Server (alpha 4),been installed on bare metal. It appears to be known issue with Grub2 when loading Xen host and came up already on Debian Lenny. In case of Ubuntu 9.10 Server Xen host loading started and dropped to grub prompt after gave up waiting for root device. menuentry "Xen 3.4.1 Ubuntu 9.10" { set root (hd0,1) multiboot (hd0,1)/xen-3.4.gz module(hd0,1)/vmlinuz-2.6.31-rc5 root=/dev/sda2 ro console=tty0 module(hd0,1)/initrd-2..6.31-rc5.img } generated via /etc/grub.d/40_custom editing and running update-grub Directive "root=UUID=" switched off via editing /etc/default/grub and update-grub run. Seems to be Grub2's multiboot implementation issue. Xen 3.4.1 Xen Dom0 ( with 2.6.31-rc5 pvops) was setup on top of Ubuntu 9.10 Server (alpha 4),been installed on bare metal. It appears to be known issue with Grub2 when loading Xen host and came up already on Debian Lenny. In case of Ubuntu 9.10 Server Xen host loading started and dropped to grub prompt after gave up waiting for root device. menuentry "Xen 3.4.1 Ubuntu 9.10" { set root (hd0,1) multiboot (hd0,1)/xen-3.4.gz module (hd0,1)/vmlinuz-2.6.31-rc5 root=/dev/sda2 ro console=tty0 module (hd0,1)/initrd-2..6.31-rc5.img } generated via /etc/grub.d/40_custom editing and running update-grub Directive "root=UUID=" switched off via editing /etc/default/grub and update-grub run. Seems to be Grub2's multiboot implementation issue. Mikmak's packages 3.4.1 work fine on 9.04, but won't help much on 9.10 with Grub2 issue in place. -- Please merge xen-3.4 (3.4.0-2) from debian unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378240 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt
May be yes and might be no. Oneiric's X-Server can handle request for 32M vram coming from QXL device qemu-kvm 's userland process running Spice session. It works for install and for runtime. Patch is completely harmless for libvirt. I believe it's understandable. But as soon as amount of vram requested by QXL device comes up to 64M X-Server becomes unable to handle this request. I carefully read xserver-xorg-video-qxl description and went to conclusion that it's functionality is not connected to this problem. As far as Qemu-kvm 0.15.0, Spice, QXL are NOT legitimate guests of Oneiric OS i cannot escalate the issue due to the issue appears to be a problem of my private PPA's development. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823494 Title: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/823494/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 823494] Re: Virt-manager upgrade 0.9.0 is not in sync with libvirt
I went trough http://mentors.debian.net/package/spice-gtk it reproduces exactly packaging schema of spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm. The same dependency bug which was resolved on Ubuntu a while ago (Spice-Gtk-0.6) popped up again. I saw this way of building Spice-Gtk-0.7 as soon as spice-gtk-0.7.1-1.fc16.src.rpm was out (about 07/30/11) along with dependency issue. Why I didn't work as I could ? I believe it's pretty much understandable. The final goal is to reproduce F16's Spice-Gtk-0.7's files layout on Debian or Ubuntu picking up right libraries and run ./configure with right options for right packages. Question of packaging is question of professional software design, nothing else, and time been spent to perform this design.
