[Bug 1754492] Re: Dell XPS 15 - Turned off Keyboard backlight turns on after resuming from suspend

2018-04-24 Thread Bob Merhebi
@Kai-Heng, I've recently reinstalled Ubuntu Gnome and now have kernel
4.13.0-39-generic. Does that suffice? or does it need to be installed
from the link you specified?

[Bug 1754492] Re: Dell XPS 15 - Turned off Keyboard backlight turns on after resuming from suspend

2018-04-26 Thread Bob Merhebi
Thanks. I'll try it this weekend.
Moreover, I'd like to add that when suspended the laptop light remains solid.
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to have it "beat"?

Also, I am getting a pcierrors during boot among other problems. I
reported them in another bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-
gnome/+bug/1766327

[Bug 1687397] Re: Kernel freeze when plugging in external monitor via USB-C->DP-Adapter

2018-03-08 Thread Bob Merhebi
It seems this is the same bug for Dell XPS 15 as well. Not always, but
sometimes this happens either using the DA200 adapter (Type-C usb) or
direct HDMI. However, a related bug has been fixed (black screen)* so I
will report back if this still happens on the Dell XPS 15.

[Bug 1088470] Re: Killing Gnome-Do resets shortcut & doesn't let Do launch at startup

2012-12-13 Thread Bob Merhebi
** Description changed:

On several occasions I was forced to kill some applications including
Gnome Do. After I kill & relaunch Gnome Do, the assigned shortcut is
reset to nothing, but i get the main interface from which I could
reassign the shortcut from the preferences menu.

This last time, I was not able to get the window to reassign the
shortcut! No matter how many times I try, Gnome Do doesn't launch
(graphically); it is running in the background.

- I haven't tried to reboot the system this time since I've been working
- on something & do not wish to reboot.
+ The only way I found to circumvent this & launch the interface was to launch
two instances from the terminal!
+ After I set the shorcut I would quit both & relaunch it as normal!

- How can I access the preferences?
+ There must be an easier way to access the preferences!

Btw, I think it would be useful in such cases if Gnome Do had a cli
interface or at least some options!

[Bug 969577] Re: No hibernate selection in drop down menu

2012-10-01 Thread Bob Merhebi
@Carla: this is beause the Hibernate has been disabled by default! It
doesn't work well on many systems including mine (though it used to work
on 10.04 for a while). You will have to enable it on your own after you
make sure it works on ur system.

Check: http://askubuntu.com/questions/94754/how-to-enable-hibernation-
in-12-04

My current system (12.04) failed to hibernate (though I allocated 16GB
swap) :(

Indeed I believe so; It could be edited (as I recall) on the QA website.
You'll have to check first on the QA mailing list though.

[Bug 775949] Re: Impossible to change between left-to-right and right-to-left text direction

2012-11-30 Thread Bob Merhebi
I'd also like to confirm this. I just realized this when attempting to
use the left-to-right & right-to-left buttons. They simply don't appear
in the formatting toolbar & do not appear when checked to be visible!

I am using LibreOffice Version 3.6.0.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:102)) on
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS with kernel 3.2.0-33-generic

[Bug 962402] Re: keyboard stops responding after backlight toggle

2012-11-30 Thread Bob Merhebi
This also occurs on my Dell Studio XPS 1640.

I found that you don't need to kill X to regain functionality of the
keyboard; just move to any virtual terminal (i.e; tty) using Fn+F# &
back toX on F7.

@Zach: I cannot confirm this on my laptop!

P.S.: some of you might also be affected by the following bugs:

[Bug 1088470] [NEW] Killing Gnome-Do resets shortcut & doesn't let Do launch at startup

2012-12-10 Thread Bob Merhebi
Public bug reported:

On several occasions I was forced to kill some applications including
Gnome Do. After I kill & relaunch Gnome Do, the assigned shortcut is
reset to nothing, but i get the main interface from which I could
reassign the shortcut from the preferences menu.

This last time, I was not able to get the window to reassign the
shortcut! No matter how many times I try, Gnome Do doesn't launch
(graphically); it is running in the background.

I haven't tried to reboot the system this time since I've been working
on something & do not wish to reboot.

How can I access the preferences?

Btw, I think it would be useful in such cases if Gnome Do had a cli
interface or at least some options!

[Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2012-11-20 Thread Bob Merhebi
This also happens on my Dell Studio XPS 1640 laptop.

The only workaround that works for me is to close the lid to suspend &
repon it. Then the mouse works agian.

Seems to be an old bug;
