[Bug 570485] [NEW] [FFe] New upstream release 1.37
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: testdrive There's a new upstream release of TestDrive that includes an important feature that we would like to see in Lucid. Currently, TestDrive obtains the Ubuntu Development release statically. This means that whenever there's a new Devel Release of Ubuntu, the user hast to manually change the codename for TestDrive, making it a tedious process. For example, now to be able to TestDrive Maverick ISO's in lucid, users will have to change that manually. However, the new upstream release adds the functionality to obtain the devel release codename automatically by fetching launchpad. We (Dustin Kirkland, and I), feel it is important to have this new functionality into lucid due to LTS. The new upstream (which only includes this feature) has been throughly tested and everything works as expected. ** Affects: testdrive (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [FFe] New upstream release 1.37 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've just been pointed out by Debian maintainer and heartbeat upstream Martin Loschwitz - Madkiss, that this build error is a glib problem and does not have anything to do with the heartbeat package: RoAkSoAx: I know some details about it as LINBIT is heartbeat upstream. The problem is not in Heartbeat, it's in glib. RoAkSoAx: fixed in http://git.gnome.org/browse/glib/commit/?id=37dbc09080ac280ff7a552d03869c8afa745f15a and re-introduced in http://git.gnome.org/browse/glib/commit/?id=c8e37b63e74fafdc1f299ec139677ad0e37676c3 -- also see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457641 So, after talking to him. Hi mgiammarco, Unfortunately, we are syncing this package from debian and not from upstream. However changes are made in upstream, will first hit debian and them we will sync/merge. However, since we are almost to the end of the release cycle, we are not gonna make any other uploads to this packages unless its for serious bugfixes. On the other hand, we are going to keep updated packages in the ubuntu- ha-maintainers PPA, and backport some whenever we feel they are good enough. Please, if you wish to have the latest packages as they become available in debian, please feel free to use the PPA. However, they are not available just yet. [Bug 547267] Re: nginx should not install into /var/www/nginx-default (Debian policy)
Hi Daniel, I'm pretty sure I added this change to fix a bug where users were complaining about nginx was not installing files /var/www/nginx-default. I think that the reference was lost in the changelogs. Anyways, I do think it is important to install the files in such directory, due to the document root in the default config of nginx references those path/files. Similar behavior is in lighttpd. Now, as I've just read in Lintian report it says "As an exception, packages are permitted to create the /var/www directory due to its past history as the default document root, but should at most copy over a default file in postinst for a new install" (this is what lighttpd does). So I would go for changing the installation of these files to postinst. However, I would like to hear your thoughts about this?
