[Bug 2060300] [NEW] KMS overlay causes OOM oops on 3A+
Public bug reported: Came across something bizarre when investigating the audio situation with server on the Pi 5 (LP: #2038924). Moving the server images to use the KMS overlay solves the situation, and would be preferable as it would eliminate another difference between server and desktop images. However, it also renders the 512MB 3A+ unbootable with an out-of-memory error. The reason this is strange is that the 512MB Zero 2W continues to boot quite happily. I'm attaching the serial output from the kernel up to the point of the crash (screenlog.0). The only changes made to the stock server config.txt were the addition of these lines under the final "[all]" section: [all] dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d disable_fw_kms_setup=1 This setup booted happily on all other boards. A trivial workaround is to manually specify a smaller CMA on the 3A+ with: dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,cma-128 With this alteration, it boots happily (and I'll be using this in an appropriate [section] to work around the issue), but it might be nice to understand why this is required on this board specifically (and why the 512MB Zero 2W doesn't exhibit the same issue). ** Affects: linux-raspi (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: New ** Attachment added: "screenlog.0" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060300/+attachment/5761694/+files/screenlog.0 ** Changed in: linux-raspi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060300 Title: KMS overlay causes OOM oops on 3A+ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/2060300/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2060311] Re: Setting "optional: true" to overcome he timeout "Job systemd-networkd-wait-online" does no longer work with latest noble image
There has been confusion in this area in the past. But the stance of upstream is that RequiredForOnline=no => "interface is _ignored_ by systemd-networkd-wait-online". Hence, if every interface is optional: true, it is expected that systemd-networkd-wait-online will timeout. I have recently suggested that netplan moves to a strategy where if interface ethX is optional:false, then enable systemd-networkd-wait- online@ethX.service. And, if ethX has optional: true, then do nothing (namely do _not_ set RequiredForOnline=no). We probably need to then either disable systemd-networkd-wait-online.service by default, or change the default flags. ** Also affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: rls-nn-incoming -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060311 Title: Setting "optional: true" to overcome he timeout "Job systemd-networkd- wait-online" does no longer work with latest noble image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/2060311/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2060303] [NEW] ubuntu 22.04.4 lock up with nvidia driver, "NVRM: GPU 0000:01:00.0: GPU has fallen off the bus."
Public bug reported: I'm using Nvidia's driver on Ubuntu 22.04.4 without major issues since about a year (or so) on this DELL Latitude 5531 notebook (01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU117M [GeForce MX550] (rev a1)). Yesterday, I had an ubuntu update, so I use driver 535 now, the previous one was 525. After some hours after going to have lunch, I found my notebook locked up, I could not use my keyboard, mouse, and the fan of the notebook was almost "screaming" already. I don't remember a single event like this before the upgrade (with 525, and older ones before). Now, it happened again after a hour or so, and seems to be a regular theme from now :( Which is - for sure - very problematic since I had to hard power-off the system losing all non-saved work and workflow all the time. [Bug 2060294] [NEW] No interface to access Network Security Service database (nssdb)
Public bug reported: Prompted by the fact that after upgrade to Ubuntu 22.04, smart card authentication in the firefox snap is no longer working. I have an already configured Network Security Services database in ${HOME}/.pki/nssdb with OpenSC ( https://github.com/OpenSC/OpenSC ) library /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opensc-pkcs11.so registered as a PKCS#11 module. Listing certificates from my token with `certutil -d sql:${HOME}/.pki/nssdb -L -h TOKEN_LABEL` works normally. It seems that the firefox snap is unable to access the .pki directory; attempting to access file:///home/USER/.pki/ results in "Access to the file was denied" message. I also did not spot any interfaces in https://snapcraft.io/docs/network-interfaces or https://snapcraft.io/docs/security-interfaces related to Network Security Services My impression is that this would require either: A) adding an interface to access the users current NSSDB B) adding a new isolated but persistent nssdb to the firefox snap. [Bug 2060293] [NEW] mailman3-web needs Q_CLUSTER retry setting
Public bug reported: Installation of mailman3-web (0+20200530-2.1) on mantic produces this warning: Creating config file /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.py with new version /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/django_q/conf.py:139: UserWarning: Retry and timeout are misconfigured. Set retry larger than timeout, failure to do so will cause the tasks to be retriggered before completion. See https://django-q.readthedocs.io/en/latest/configure.html#retry for details. This refers to the 'retry' and 'timeout' fields of the Q_CLUSTER dictionary configured in /usr/share/mailman3-web/settings.py. That file sets 'timeout' to 300, but has no setting for retry. The documentation linked above states that the built-in default is 60 seconds. Though Django reports this as a warning, clearly this configuration will cause bugs such as tasks being executed multiple times (up to 5 retries could be started while previous tasks may still finish). The fix is to add a 'retry' setting to the settings file. Assuming that the 300s timeout was deliberately chosen upstream, then setting the retry interval to 360 would be sensible (= retry one minute after timeout). A patch is attached. ** Affects: mailman-suite (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: mantic ** Patch added: "Add retry setting to settings.py" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060293/+attachment/5761692/+files/settings.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2060293 Title: mailman3-web needs Q_CLUSTER retry setting To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailman-suite/+bug/2060293/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Okay. Looking at the logs though, it doesn't seem that encc00 ever gets configured. If it's optional: false, then it has RequiredForOnline=yes. If it's not getting configured, then it's also expected that systemd- networkd-wait-online times out. Or am I missing something else? [Bug 2060350] [NEW] all windows under gnome shell lack the close, minimize and maximize buttons
Public bug reported: Using gnome-shell 46 on noble, no window seems to be rendering the close, maximize and minimize buttons. Trying to click in the top right corner to look for buttons that are transparent yielded no result. The buttons seem to not be present at all. I have tried to reinstall gnome-shell-common since a forum post indicates that it contains the assets required to draw those buttons, but it was all in vain. As a workaround I am riht clicking on the window title/headerbars to reveal the context menu with which I can close the window successfully. This seems to be related to the issue where gdm3 is not drawing the login widgets at all (switched to sddm to workaround). [Bug 2060331] [NEW] add-apt-repository --list not returning any deb822 repositories

'sudo add-apt-repository ppa:flacon/ppa' adds the flacon repo as '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/flacon-ubuntu-ppa-mantic.sources' 2. apt can install and update from the new repo, as expected. you can also remove the repo, as expected, by running 'sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:flacon/ppa' 3. However, 'add-apt-repository --list' does not list the repo as it should. GUI package managers such as Muon and Synaptic also do not see the new repo. It makes working with packages frustrating, and unfortunately, per Julian Andres Klode (juliank), there seems to be no plan to fix the broken 'software-properties-common' any time soon. [Bug 2048808] Re: (don't) MIR aiohttp
I'm an aiohttp maintainer, so let me know if there's any questions or things we can help with. Just to clarify a couple of points though: - python3-typing-extensions is not needed on Python 3.11+ - python3-async-timeout is not needed on Python 3.12+ (and I suspect we'll deprecate the library itself too). So, if you're only concerned about more recent Ubuntu releases, they could be skipped. aiohttp 3.10 however, will have 1 new dependency aiohappyeyeballs (though this will hopefully be temporary as we'd hope for the code to be upstreamed to Python later). All of the dependencies are fairly small though and have never had any security issues I'm aware of. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2048808 Title: (don't) MIR aiohttp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-aiohttp/+bug/2048808/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
