Below is the test I performed in a Qemu virtual environment. Host : a Debian host. Guest : Debian bookworm x86_64, LXQT, deinstalled preload and firefox-esr for light desktop. On the guest I installed 2 flavours of the same 100.0 version of Firefox on : - the snap : 100.0-2 (snap revision 1300) with the other required snaps (gnome-3-38-2004 0+git.1f9014a rev 99, gtk-common-themes 0.1-59-g7bca6ae rev 1519, core20 20220329 rev 1434) - the deb package by hand from sid repository : 100.0-1. Before starting the test, I started for the first time each flavour and I made the new page empty (no web search, no shortcut or recent activity). I performed the below sequence with each flavour : 0. The host is up to date from the day (snap refresh, apt update), no background task expected, no other application on host and guest desktops. 1. I start AQemu. 2. I launch the virtual machine with Debian bookworm. 3. I login into the guest desktop environment. 4. I wait for roughly 60 s (stopwatch in hand). 5. I launch Firefox by the desktop menu entry and measure the start-up duration until the window appears. 6. I close Firefox and wait roughly 30s (stopwatch in hand). 7. I launch Firefox again and measure. 8. I close Firefox and wait roughly 30s (stopwatch in hand). 9. I launch Firefox again and measure. [Bug 1972899] [NEW] [Regression] Real-time Kernel Build Failure
You have been subscribed to a public bug: [SRU Justification] A new commit in the Jammy 5.15.0-29.30 kernel is causing a build failure for the real-time kernel. After a bisect, I found this commit is causing the real-time kernel build failure: dc66c1b8a2be1 ("x86/pkru: Remove useless include") Commit dc66c1b8a2be1 was added in 5.16-rc1 and not cc'd to stable. It was picked into Jammy to enable AMX support. See bug 1967750. The following commit resolves this regression by fixing up the includes: 35fa745286ac4 ("x86/mm: Include spinlock_t definition in pgtable") Commit 35fa745286ac4 was merged into mainline 5.17-rc1. [Fix] 35fa745286ac4 ("x86/mm: Include spinlock_t definition in pgtable") [Test case] Kernel builds are now working after picking this commit. [Regression potential] Low. [Bug 1972982] [NEW] raspi-config is looking at the wrong directory
Public bug reported: raspi-config is currently looking at /boot which is where the boot partition is mounted on RaspiOS ... not Ubuntu (where it's /boot/firmware). Which effectively means it's looking at a blank config.txt (because it won't find any) and is writing any changes to /boot/config.txt where they won't work. [Bug 1968154] Re: Only keep 2 kernels
** No longer affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu Impish) ** No longer affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu Focal) ** No longer affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu Bionic) ** No longer affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu) ** Description changed: [Impact] APT currently keeps 3 kernels or even 4 in some releases. Our boot partition is sized for a steady state of 2 kernels + 1 new one being unpacked, hence users run out of space and new kernels fail to install, upgrade runs might abort in the middle. It's not nice. [Test plan] 1. Have two kernels installed (let's call them version 3, 2) 2. Check that both kernels are not autoremovable 3. Install an old kernel (let's call it 1), and mark it automatic 4. Check that 1 will be autoremovable (apt autoremove -s) 5. Reboot into 1, check that 2 is autoremovable (apt autoremove -s) 6. Actually remove 2 7. Reboot into 3 and check that both 1 and 3 are now not autoremovable - - unattended-upgrades may need changes to its test suite to accommodate - this. [Where problems could occur] We could keep the wrong kernels installed that the user did not expect. We remove the requirement to keep the most recently installed version, previously recorded in APT::LastInstalledKernel, to achieve this, as we had 3 hard requirements so far: 1. keep booted kernel 2. keep highest version 3. keep most recently installed 1 can't be removed as it would break running systems, 2 is what you definitely want to keep. During normal system lifetime, the most recently installed kernel is the same as the highest version, so 2==3, and there are no changes to behavior. Likewise, if you most recently installed an older kernel manually for debugging, it would be manually installed and not subject to removal, even if the rule is dropped. The behavior really only changes if you install an older kernel, and then mark it auto - that older kernel becomes automatically removable immediately after it is marked as auto. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968154 Title: Only keep 2 kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1968154/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1972795] Re: libnet-ssleay-perl: Autopkgtest failures on OpenSSL 3.0.* patch releases
Attached is a debdiff for this change, as reviewed by the Debian maintainer. As indicated on the bug there, this will not be uploaded to Debian until their 3.0 transition starts, hence the need to introduce a delta in Ubuntu. You can find a built version of the package in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~schopin/+archive/ubuntu/test-ppa/+sourcepub/13609898/+listing-archive-extra (just pop the bogus changelog entry) ** Patch added: "libnet-ssleay-perl.kinetic.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnet-ssleay-perl/+bug/1972795/+attachment/5588494/+files/libnet-ssleay-perl.kinetic.debdiff ** Changed in: libnet-ssleay-perl (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1972795 Title: libnet-ssleay-perl: Autopkgtest failures on OpenSSL 3.0.* patch releases To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnet-ssleay-perl/+bug/1972795/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1972983] [NEW] File dialog in snap firefox does not have keyboard focus
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce the issue. After first log in into Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 1. Launch Firefox and open a website (e.g. www.ubuntu.com) 2. Hit Ctrl+S to open the Save file dialog. 3. Type "Ubuntu" to replace the default file name ("Enterprise Open Source and Linux | Ubuntu.html"). Hit Enter. It works the first time round. 4. Hit Ctrl+S to open the Save file dialog again. 5. Type "Ubuntu - 2" to replace the default file name ("Enterprise Open Source and Linux | Ubuntu.html"). [Bug 1972984] [NEW] Cannot paste filename into File Save dialog of Firefox Snap
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Copy a file name or a file path to the clipboard 2. Open Firefox 3. Hit Ctrl+S to open the File Save dialog. 4. Make sure that the "Name" field has focus (which it may not because of another bug) and attempt to paste: Ctrl+V Expected behavior: the contents of the clipboard is entered into the "Name" field. [Bug 1884299] Re: Chromium snap won't run with nfs home drive
A similar issue was discussed in the forums: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/cannot-open-path-of-the-current-working- directory-permission-denied-bis/28704 If the system is using autofs and snapd is started before any NFS home directory is mounted, snapd will fail to detect the fact that the system is using autofs (or NFS), and will not grant snap-confine those permissions needed to use the network. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884299 Title: Chromium snap won't run with nfs home drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1884299/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1662552] Re: snaps don't work with NFS home
We did some progress in investigating this, and it appears that a problem still exists: if the system is using autofs and snapd is started before any NFS home directory is mounted, snapd will fail to detect the fact that the system is using autofs (or NFS), and will not grant snap- confine those permissions needed to use the network. Given that this bug is old and that indeed a (partial) fix landed, I suggest to keep it closed; I noticed that someone else filed a new bug which explicitly mentions the autofs case, so I suggest continuing the discussion there: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1884299 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1662552 Title: snaps don't work with NFS home To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1662552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1967721] Re: Laptop never resuming from standby
We were trying to debug this issues with sparkiegeek too, and we have had inconclusive test results. Where the same kernel with/without power attached behaved differently and did/didn't come back from suspend. When testing v5.13 kernel on jammy, could you please confirm that suspend/resume works in both cases 1) power attached and charging 2) power not attached Similarly, when trying to build v5.13/v5.14 kernels with a more recent jammy kernel config we seemed to have been hitting suspend/resume failure more often. So I am hoping that we can figure out the kernel config differences that is causing this behavior regression. It always helps to use fwupdate manager to install all available firmware upgrades. In general, these are likely to have multiple security vulnerability and stability fixes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967721 Title: Laptop never resuming from standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1967721/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
