[Bug 1970559] [NEW] MacBook Air Mid-2013 not booting with iommu enabled
Public bug reported: I have a MacBook Air Mid-2013 which doesn't boot with iommu enabled due to the onboard SATA not working with it, and I see that with KUbuntu 22.04, the new 5.15 kernels have Intel IOMMU enabled by default. So at the moment I need to add kernel option: intel_iommu=off . The MacBook was working with default boot options with KUbuntu 22.10 and kernel: 5.13.0-40-generic, but that also didn't have CONFIG_INTEL_IOMMU_DEFAULT_ON set. I have attached the output of dmesg when the intel mmu is enabled if that helps. Is there a patch that can be applied to fix this or perhaps a dmi whitelist to make it so intel mmu isn't enabled for this model? [Bug 1970561] [NEW] Unable to load security device [snap] [libcryptoki]
Public bug reported: Hi, This is on Jammy LTS. I can not add a security device into Firefox. The smart cards I'm using requires a closed source client software (mPollux DigiSign client) available here: https://dvv.fi/en/card-reader-software . The module the user needs in this case is a PKCS#11 module, for which an open source solution is not available at this time, as open source PKCS#11 solutions do not support the current cards issued in Finland AFAIK (not sure if this is relevant; case may be the snap Firefox fails with *all* security modules at this time, but I don't have other modules to test.). Loading the module fails with a generic message "Unable to load module" (or the equivalent in the language configured for Firefox). As a general troubleshooting step I reverted Firefox to the non-sandboxed, non-snap version from the ppa ppa:mozillateam/ppa. With the non-snap version, this security module can be added with no problems. Possibly related (duplicate?): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1951646 . I'm not sure about the duplicateness, however it is possible in case the underlying cause is the same. Steps to reproduce: 1. Have a smart card and a reader requiring to use mPollux DigiSign client (it would be interesting to test other PKCS#11 modules, other smart card modules or any security device in Firefox and see if it works) 2. Try to add a security device in Firefox via Settings -> Security and Privacy -> Security Devices 3. Navigate to the needed .so (in my case: /usr/lib64/libcryptoki.so Observed results: Adding the module fails with a very generic and vague error message. Expected results: Adding the module should succeed. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970561 Title: Unable to load security device [snap] [libcryptoki] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1970561/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970586] [NEW] No sound support on Linux AWS kernel (but supported on GCP)
Public bug reported: In GCP images it is possible to create virtual MIDI devices and generally do stuff like audio routing, etc. At CircleCI, where we run many of our VMs on Ubuntu in GCP, several of our customers use this functionality to test audio equipment in their CI runs. Unfortunately they cannot run their tests on our AWS based VMs, as there is no sound support compiled into the kernel on the AWS kernel and images. See the package listings for the other kernels for, e.g. the loopback driver: ``` linux-modules-extra-5.4.0-99-generic: /lib/modules/5.4.0-99-generic/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko linux-modules-extra-5.8.0-1031-oracle: /lib/modules/5.8.0-1031-oracle/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko linux-modules-extra-5.8.0-1032-gcp: /lib/modules/5.8.0-1032-gcp/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko ``` We would love to be able to install the sound drivers (especially snd- aloop) with the linux-modules-extra-aws package, but currently cannot, and obviously do not want to start running our own kernels, as then we lose the immediacy of kernel patches provided upstream by Canonical. I just discovered that a direct tls connection to a windows 7 (=2008r2) rdp server indeed fails with ERRCONNECT_TLS_CONNECT_FAILED the error is that there is no cipher match (this probably happens also with a 2008r2 based rdp gateway server, but that someone would need to check) this however can be workarounded by /tls-seclevel:0 If this resolves your issue I would suggest making this the default for freerdp. OK so it really is the old (correct) desktop-icons extension in use. That seems like the most likely explanation still. I think comment #3 needs another attempt and more investigation because we need to know if disabling the extension fixes it. Please try: gsettings set org.gnome.shell disabled-extensions "['desktop- icons@csoriano']" and if it doesn't work immediately then log in again. [Bug 1970595] [NEW] The server installer double or triple fetches source ISO file
Public bug reported: Hello, I'm not sure if this is bug or expected behavior but here we go. We should revisit how we ship the default going forward, at least use the non deprecated filename. [Bug 1969959] Re: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04)
Keep it simple. Please start with only the AMD GPU. If you have a laptop, just disconnect the external monitor. If you have a desktop, just move the monitor connection to the motherboard. You might have to also temporarily remove the Nvidia card during that time or else the system will still prefer Nvidia even while no monitor is connected to it. Once you can use the machine with only AMD graphics, you can install the Nvidia driver manually (even when no Nvidia card is installed): sudo apt install nvidia-driver-510 and reboot. Then it should be safe to go back to using Nvidia and multi- monitors. If you're installing Ubuntu from scratch then the shortcut to all this is to choose the third-party software option during installation. I am of course guessing that the problem is the nouveau driver and not AMD... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1969959 Title: [nouveau][amdgpu] Weird colors after startup (Ubuntu 22.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1969959/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1958267] Re: "Connection failed" for WPA Enterprise network (e.g. eduroam)
It's definitely the infrastructure that's using old TLS. As for the unsafe renegotiation, that happens because the server does not send a renegotiation_info extension in its ServerHello message. See https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5746. See specifically section 4.1, which discusses client behavior. OpenSSL 3 defaults to the secure client behavior, which requires the server to support RFC5746. For the "0A0C0103:SSL routines::internal error" the issue is that these servers only offer TLS 1.1 or older, which uses MD5-SHA1 as digest in its signature algorithm. Due to recent collision attacks on SHA1, this no longer meets OpenSSL default level of security of 80 bits (see https://sha-mbles.github.io/, which reduced the chosen-prefix collision to 63.4 bits). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958267 Title: "Connection failed" for WPA Enterprise network (e.g. eduroam) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970595] Re: The server installer double or triple fetches source ISO file
** Description changed: - Hello, + Hello, hello, I'm not sure if this is bug or expected behavior but here we go. I was doing server reinstall from already installed linux OS via grub bootstraping (to continue installation via SSH due to lacking access to the server's physical console). [Bug 1954970] Re: remmina "Cannot connect to the RDP server ... via TLS. Check that the client and server support a common TLS version"

[Bug 1969394] Re: 'Settings & Livepatch' button opens 'settings' tab, not livepatch
Changing it would require some design work. Changing the label from' settings' to 'Settings & Livepatch' was an easy way to get livepatch mentioned but isn't a great user experience indeed. [Bug 1970603] [NEW] DSI touchscreen not working with KMS under 5.15
Public bug reported: The official Raspberry Pi touchscreen (the 7" model connected via the DSI port) does not operate when the KMS overlay is applied (as is the default on the Ubuntu Desktop for Raspberry Pi images). The display does operate on RaspiOS Bullseye, also running kernel 5.15, when the KMS overlay is used. Notably, the display does work on Ubuntu with no KMS overlay (legacy framebuffer), or with the FKMS ("fake" KMS) overlay. The symptom is simply no output at all on the display. Sometimes there is the initial "rainbow" screen of the start4.elf bootloader, but then nothing. Notably this is *slightly* different to the Impish 5.13 kernel. On thata version, the DSI display also failed with the KMS overlay, but in that case there was an initial flashing cursor (presumably at the start of the initrd, perhaps on a leftover framebuffer?) which then disappears before anything is printed. On 5.15 there's nothing after the "rainbow". The symptoms are the same on both armhf and arm64 images.
