[Bug 662840]
There's failures on test-verification with these changes, but there's failures on test-verification on these tests without the changes as well, e.g. https://treeherder.mozilla.org/jobs?repo=try&revision=99fedcc1a058b3377c7def7938d3f27173edaee6 where I added some comments to trigger test-verification on the existing tests. Fixing https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1760824 should help make the tests less flaky. [Bug 1966181] [NEW] ipa-client-install fails on restarting non-existing chrony.service
Public bug reported: DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 Package: freeipa-client 4.8.6-1ubuntu6 This is a bug that just doesn't want to die -- the package *really* should grow an autopkgtest that checks if a basic ipa-client-install actually works. It's very similar to bug 1890786 except that it now fails on "chrony.service", not "chronyd.service": # ipa-client-install --domain cockpit.lan --realm COCKPIT.LAN --principal admin -W This program will set up FreeIPA client. Version 4.8.6 WARNING: conflicting time&date synchronization service 'ntp' will be disabled in favor of chronyd Discovery was successful! Do you want to configure chrony with NTP server or pool address? CalledProcessError(Command ['/bin/systemctl', 'restart', 'chrony.service'] returned non-zero exit status 5: 'Failed to restart chrony.service: Unit chrony.service not found.\n') The ipa-client-install command failed. See /var/log/ipaclient-install.log for more information This also happens if I say "yes" to the NTP question. Now, the chrony package is indeed rather weird/broken: | root@x0:~# find /etc/systemd -name '*chrony*' | xargs ls -l | lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 Mar 24 05:54 /etc/systemd/system/chrony.service -> /dev/null | lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Mar 23 04:31 /etc/systemd/system/chronyd.service -> /lib/systemd/system/chrony.service | lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Mar 23 04:31 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/chrony.service -> /lib/systemd/system/chrony.service | # systemctl status chrony chronyd | Warning: The unit file, source configuration file or drop-ins of chronyd.service changed on disk. Purging chrony doesn't really help, though: | dpkg -P chrony | # no '*chrony*' files in /etc any more Exactly the same failure, and it still tries to configure chrony even though it's not there any more: | WARNING: conflicting time&date synchronization service 'ntp' will be disabled in favor of chronyd | | Discovery was successful! | Do you want to configure chrony with NTP server or pool address? [Bug 1965676] Re: virt-manager looses connection to virtualization hosts at moderate loads
Hi Thomas, on one hand let me ask a few questions (below) as the report as-is can't really be acted on. on the other hand - even then - this is a topic that does not sound like an Ubuntu specific problem or fix and therefore more likely will be successful if deiscussed upstream (https://github.com/virt-manager/virt-manager/issues). If you happen to file a case there please let us know so that we can track it from here. If there is a fix coming out of it this will help to fix/backport it to Ubuntu afterwards. Ok, after that being said let me start with the obvious questions. 1. You use v3.2 right now, have you seen the same with former (e.g. 2.2.1 in Focal) or later (4.0 in Jammy) versions as well? 2. What exactly is "moderate load" in your case? 3. could you come up with a step by step reproduction based on clean systems? For example take two Ubuntu VMs version X, sized with that many CPU/Mem connected to the same virtual network via Y. Then run a KVM guest on one like Z, connect to it from the other system. Then run the net-workload X on the host to simulate the load. 4. what error messages do you get exactly? Are they always the same? ** Changed in: virt-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: need-upstream-report -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1965676 Title: virt-manager looses connection to virtualization hosts at moderate loads To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virt-manager/+bug/1965676/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1966187] Re: crash xorg
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1966187 Title: crash xorg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1966187/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1966200] [NEW] [FFe] rustc: Downgrade cargo from Recommends to Suggests
Public bug reported: Hi, I'd like to upload a new rustc version (see attached debdiff). In addition to the obvious security fix, this version would downgrade the Recommends: cargo to a mere Suggests: for the rustc binary. The rationale behind the change is that we'd like to promote rustc to main (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rustc/+bug/1957932 for details) and cargo isn't ready to be promoted. I expect the impact on the archive to be minimal, as there are only two direct reverse-dependencies on rustc: ❯ reverse-depends rustc Reverse-Depends * cargo * rust-all rust-all already has its own Depends: relationship to cargo, and as such isn't relying on rustc to provide it. AFAIK our builders don't consider Recommends dependencies, so this change shouldn't result in build breakages. My educated guess is that any user that wishes to install Rust and does *not* follow that community's standard way of doing things (bypassing system packages) would install rust-all or cargo directly, not expecting rustc to provide the higher-level tooling. ** Affects: rustc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "rustc-ffe.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1966200/+attachment/5572462/+files/rustc-ffe.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1966200 Title: [FFe] rustc: Downgrade cargo from Recommends to Suggests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rustc/+bug/1966200/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1888184] Re: nagios-nrpe-server-4 is creating incorrect log spam
> I found a recent post on the nagios support forum but I do not have permission to access it, from its short description I got that "agents are falling back to packet version 2 when query an agent in version 4 by a plugin in version 3" Googlebot can see it. From there: "The way the NRPE plugin negotiates the SSL version of the agent does generate a lot of messages in the remote server but if the checks does work, you can disable the message by changing the following option in the nrpe.cfg file to a 1. That should stop all logging for the agent." It's quite dissatisfying but it seems to say that the plugin's *version probing logic* causes invalid error messages on the agent, and if you don't like that you should have rsyslog filter out the invalid error messages. Not how I would structure the protocol but elsewhere it's said that commercial nagios is moving to HTTP and deprecating nrpe protocol so it's unlikely to be fixed. I wiresharked this for a bit and it does appear that *no* cleartext traffic is transiting the link. e.g.: 07:14:24.538748 IP 192.168.1.246.39798 > 192.168.1.43.5666: Flags [P.], seq 836:1901, ack 826, win 506, options [nop, nop,TS val 10310092 ecr 4249413257], length 1065 E..].g@.?.i. . . ..+.v." .&.e1.LW.. ..Q..H..$..H ..h...&}...hk.!%./...z..#"..Gq.g...z!Bx..j].m<.0w'C.s..A..P&WFTci.9.. |...E6.d..?..d.5..5...MU..:0.v./...\S.&.X.?); So I believe it is not falling back to v2 and is actually using v3 with ssl. One suggestion says to add '-2' to the check_nrpe command but that seems like really bad advice to me (at least for anywhere where network security is a consideration). my config: ii nagios-nrpe-plugin 3.2.1-2 amd64Nagios Remote Plugin Executor Plugin ii nagios-nrpe-server 4.0.3-1 amd64Nagios Remote Plugin Executor Server So it appears that upstream is saying to do a workaround and it's wontfix on their end.
