[Bug 1964317] [NEW] make dahdi available only on non-cloud kernels

2022-03-09 Thread Andrea Righi
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

DAHDI (formly Zaptel) is an interface for telephony devices (e.g. the
Asterisk PBX software). Maintaining this module on cloud kernels has
been always problematic, because most of the cloud kernels are missing
the modules required by this dkms. Moreover it is quite unlikely to find
a real world use case that may require to have this module installed in
a cloud instance.

In kernels such as linux-kvm for example this test has been failing
since forever and it has been always hinted. At this point it is better
to simply not provide this module.

[Test case]

Install this module on a kernel typically used in cloud instances, i.e.:

  $ sudo apt install dahdi-dkms

[Fix]

Adjust dkms.conf to provide this dkms only on a certain subset of
kernels (excluding cloud kernels).

[Regression potential]

We may incorrectly exclude some kernels that actually require this
module, so we may see potential regressions limited to the
unavailability of this dkms.

Thanks Juerg.

We are using a UEFI 'firmware; for RPI (https://github.com/pftf/RPi4).

Thank you for your bug report, that could be similar to bug #1958267

that's a bit of a weird because the current Ubuntu package is a direct
sync from Debian, so you replaced by the same version and it's working?
that would suggest a problem with the build, maybe another side effect
of the openssl3 transition in Ubuntu

Could you reinstall the Ubuntu wpa, edit
/lib/systemd/system/wpa_supplicant.service to add a '-d' to the
ExecStart cmd, restart, try to connect and share the 'journalctl -b 0'
log from the system?

Probably. But it's not supported neither by the Pi foundation nor
Canonical.

Regarding the kernel/image: We have dedicated and official Ubuntu raspi
kernels and preinstalled server and desktop images. What you seem to be
using via MaaS is the generic arm64 kernel and image, which are not
supported on Raspberry Pis.

[Bug 1964321] [NEW] obs-studio should support browser objects and twitch integration

2022-03-09 Thread Andrea Righi
Public bug reported:

The obs-studio that we provide in Ubuntu is pretty much useless, because
it's missing some key features, like browser objects and a better
integration with some streaming platforms, such as Twitch.

I always need to use obs-studio from ppa:obsproject/obs-studio and that
is not a big problem, but it's very annoying when the version of obs-
studio in the archive is updated and it overrides the version from the
ppa, because it's completely breaking my setup. I know I can `apt-mark
hold obs-studio`, but it's still quite annoying...

I'm wondering why it's problematic to provide the same features that the
version in ppa:obsprojects/obs-studio in our main archive... I'd be
happy just with the browser object support.

Weird, as you can see there is only an upgrade

What do you want exactly, kern.log, syslog ? It's less easy for me
because network is down

There is a way to boot on 1052.86 after upgrade ?

Are you using the same bootloader ?

I mean, now I'm using backup disk (ssd) restoration, this take time for each
test
Maybe there is a more simple way to test and fallback ...

[Bug 1926706] Re: Any popup open in a reduced square box and can't click or see anything.

2022-03-09 Thread François Perruchas
Hi, I think I had the same problem. I solved it with the following steps:
1. delete all the keepass config (in ~/.config and ~/.local/share)
2. remove keepass
3. update mono installing the official mono repository (
https://www.mono-project.com/download/stable/ )
4. install PPA jtaylor/keepass
5. reinstall keepass
6. reboot (I don't know why, but it worked after reboot).

[Bug 1962289] Re: Mediatek AIoT i500 support

2022-03-09 Thread ethan.hsieh
@Loïc

I'm working on an image which will support multiple Medaitek AIoT
boards. The dtbo files are for some external components like cameras and
panels. Mediatek would like to have these dtbo files in the fitimage.
These components are optional. When end-users have it, they can enable
it by modifying an u-boot variable.

Pi, zynqmp, and other boards' uboot boot scripts are in flash-kernel.
So, I thought it's the right place for the u-boot boot script.

I suggested the HWE team to add the ITS file into linux package. They
will have an internal discussion for it. If ITS/DTB/DTBO are in the
linux packages, there won't be a dependency issue. I'll get back to you
when I get the feedback from the HWE team.

Thanks~

Would you be able to find the details of those gnome-shell crashes? Try

[Bug 1964136] Re: Settings item not shown in System menu

2022-03-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
> Here's a better list of affected packages

Could you provide details on why you think it's a better list? The patch
renames the dbus entry point, which means that applications trying to
spawn setting over dbus will need to be update.

As a testcase build gnome-control-center with the suggested patch, then
try to open online accounts from the gnome-calendar popdown menu, it
doesn't work anymore. The codesearch query first mentioned suggests that
gnome-photos, contacts, todo, recipes, boxes, music and others are going
to have the same issue?

[Bug 1964303] Re: Optionally allow building CPC images with core (16.04) based snaps

2022-03-09 Thread Thomas Bechtold
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
Commit 245f7772bdb743547e4d2f7df2475afc0eb5ec1e aborts the build when a snap
still depends on core (16.04 runtime).
- That's fine for Ubuntu but the CPC team builds images which still depend on
core (that will be fixed soon).
- So adding an option to allow those builds will fix the problem.
+ That's fine for Ubuntu but the CPC team builds images which still depend on
core (that will be fixed soon). So currently those CPC builds are failing.
+ Adding an option to allow those builds will fix the problem.
+
+ [Test Plan]
+ The bug can be reproduced with:
+
+ $ ./scripts/ubuntu-bartender/ubuntu-bartender --hook-extras-dir
+ ~/devel/canonical/cloudware/cpc_packaging.extra --livecd-rootfs-branch
+ ubuntu/focal --livecd-rootfs-dir ~/devel/livecd-rootfs/ -- --series
+ focal --project ubuntu-cpc --image-target ec2-anbox
+
+ So getting this command passing validated that the bug is fixed
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+ Other builds could get broken due to this change but it's unlikely because
the change is relatively small and the change is tested.

[Bug 1951032] Re: AArch64: Backport memcpy improvements

2022-03-09 Thread Dave Jones
On the performance regression on the Pi 0/3 models above, bear in mind
that the models showing the regression are all the models with <=1GB of
RAM. Assuming there's no regression on the armhf side of things (I
haven't tested this, but I got the impression this was an arm64 only
change?), we wouldn't be affecting users of an architecture which is, in
several regards, preferable on the smaller platforms.

System installs without errors telling me grub-install failed

  System reports grub-install failed

[Bug 1964333] [NEW] window decoration glitch with nvidia driver 495 and 510

2022-03-09 Thread Mateusz Łącki
Public bug reported:

With Ubuntu 21.10, with nvidia driver package 495 and 510 I have the
graphics glitch after each login. The icons in the top bad of the window
seem distorted by their upscaled "shadows"

This can be removed by restarting the gnome-shell (alt+f2 and then "r"
command).
Under 470 no such error exist,

Description:Ubuntu 21.10

PS. It seems to me attaching two files to a bug report is not possible. Can it
be added?

[Bug 1964126] Re: KDE Plasma Wayland session does not detect external monitor

2022-03-09 Thread JPT
Dock type 4338
logfiles attached. they are from an x11 session.
should I create some from wayland session too?

I removed DVD errors (from reading bad DVD) from the logfile because
else it would have 20 MB.

Any way to find out about displaylink?

[Bug 1964335] [NEW] Excessive size of kernel modules on RISC-V

2022-03-09 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
Public bug reported:

The size of kernel modules on RISC-V indicates that there is a build
problem:

kernel/drivers/ata/sata_mv.ko
amd64: 81713 bytes
arm64: 85505 bytes
riscv64: 601417 bytes

objdump -h shows that there is no section beyond 0xc6fc in the riscv64 file.
The size of the sections matches what we see on the other architectures.

[Bug 1964335] Re: Excessive size of kernel modules on RISC-V - modules unstripped

2022-03-09 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
If I compile Linux v5.15.26 with RISC-V defconfig + CONFIG_SATA_MV=y,
I get a drivers/ata/sata_mv.ko with 103960 bytes.

With additionally CONFIG_MODULE_SIG=y after make modules_install: 104673
bytes.

So the problems seems not to exist in upstream.

[Bug 1960264] Re: 503 errors for Jammy PPAs

2022-03-09 Thread Ricardo Pardini
Same here. Using Jammy's 3.7.4-1build1 results in "503" errors even when
downloading from main archive. Seems to happen only when used with apt
in http_proxy mode (when using with localhost:3142/xxx prefix, eg, for
debootstrap, that works).

Reverted to debian/3.6.4-1 from salsa and all goes back to normal.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to
New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1964333] Re: window decoration glitch with nvidia driver 495 and 510

2022-03-09 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1964333/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1964132] Re: [FFe] webkit2gtk additionally built with libsoup3 support

2022-03-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Request
  ---
Add the new libsoup3-using packages in webkit2gtk

  Why Needed
  --
Our webkit2gtk packaging is built with libsoup2 (webkitgtk's 4.0 API).
Debian's packaging recently added additional packages built with libsoup3
(webkitgtk's 4.1 API); these should not affect the existing libsoup2 packages.

The libsoup2 > libsoup3 transition is a big one and will not happen for
22.04 LTS; I am hoping we can finish it for main by 23.04 but I haven't
  looked into it yet.

It's expected that GNOME 43 will try to switch to libsoup3. Having
webkit2gtk with libsoup3 support in 22.04 LTS will make it easier for
newer versions of the GNOME Web Browser (epiphany) to run on this
release. It also will make it easier to create snaps of GNOME 43 apps
  using a core22 base.

My instinct is that we want libsoup3 and the new webkit+libsoup3
packages to stay in universe for 22.04 LTS and then Main Inclusion can
  be recommended for 22.10.

It is not intended for any traditional (.deb) packages in 22.04 LTS
itself to use these new packages except epiphany.

I already uploaded the webkit2gtk merge/sync with this change. If this
FFe is rejected, I can undo the addition.

  What Changed

  See above

- If Approved, What's Still Needed
-
- libsoup3 needs to be built on i386
- An archive admin will need to manually handle the new 4.1 packages to keep
them in universe.
