[Bug 1955109] Re: boot menu not appearing after manual install of jellyfish daily build alongside other OS

The installation text creates the impression that jellyfish will install
alongside pre-existing operating systems.
Perhaps there should be a warning that it is a little more complicated in
practice.

[Bug 1960694] [NEW] pytorch-audio/vision: please RM armhf binaries

2022-02-12 Thread Graham Inggs
Public bug reported:

Since 1.8.1-3, pytorch only builds on "modern 64-bit architectures",
therefore pytorch-audio and pytorch-vision's build-dependency on

Please remove the pytorch-audio and pytorch-vision binaries on armhf.

[Bug 1960521] Re: Sync memtest86+ 5.31b+dfsg-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2022-02-12 Thread Fantu
thanks, as you can saw memtest86+ is not orphan anymore (I'm the new
maintainer) and a packaging git on salsa was added
(https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus), if
changes/improvements/fixes are needed try to open an MR on debian git or
post a patch in debian bugreport and if it is ok I'll apply it in debian
directly instead do and maintain an ubuntu specific patch/version when
not really needed, so I suppose it would save time and eventually
improve the package in debian as well.

[Bug 883017] Re: memtest86+ fails on efi systems

2022-02-12 Thread Fantu
5.31b+dfsg-4 now in Jammy include latest upstream version and other patches
that solves all freeze/crashes I saw (except the multiboot one) and memtest86+
is now returned to work well.
Uefi support is still missed but upstream developer replied me that will do
upstream git and is contacting developers of various fork to merge them
upstream and one have initial a good part of the uefi support made, so probably
memtest86+ 6.00 will have it.

For 5.31b+dfsg-4 (in Jammy) include also:
  * Merge from ubuntu:
...
- Don't present in GRUB menu on EFI systems, since it won't work.
  (Closes: #695246)
  * Warn that don't support EFI instead of exit silently (LP: 1863940)

[Bug 1950037] Re: [needs-packaging] Package 'thonny' has gone missing

2022-02-12 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Based on the package history in Ubuntu [1], it looks like it was removed
in Hirsute because one of its dependencies failed to build. Not sure if
this is the invalid bug referenced above, but the issue seems to have
been resolved since then.

The good news is that a newer version has been packaged and synced to
Ubuntu Jammy, which means it will be part of Ubuntu 22.04.

Would you mind to specify in more detail how the issue can be reproduced?
For example

- ...

Also, does the problem happen also with Xpad 5.4 or 5.5?

[Bug 1958975] Re: linux-image-5.13.0-28-generic hangs randomly

2022-02-12 Thread Simon
I have a similar issue, but on Ubuntu 20.04.
When I use kernel 5.13.0-28, the system will hard freeze every time I open a
file from a flatpak using the xdg-desktop-portal file picker. The last thing I
can see in the logs is: "BUG: Bad page state in process xdg-document-po
pfn:19f8d2".
On 5.13.0-27 this doesn't happen.
This seems really similar to https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/4609 but
there it happens with openSUSE Tumbleweed on kernel 5.15.5-1.

It's possible you had a bad write to your installation media or for some
other reason its contents could not be read correctly. If you're still
having problems you should try re-writing the image to your media (and
possibly re-download it as well). Please always allow the integrity
check to run as it should find any such problems before the installation
process commences.

Please let us know if that resolves your problem.

[Bug 1935767] Re: vanilla-gnome-default-settings will not install for impish-proposed

2022-02-12 Thread Paul Broadhead
Thanks for the fix, I can confirm the update for Jammy installed without
errors and "apt purge" and "apt install" on the package worked too.

Will you be back porting the fix to impish?

[Bug 1379535] Re: policy namespace stacking

I see this is "Fix Released" everywhere but on the upstream AppArmor

mainline kernel, e.g. for LXC. If my understanding is incorrect, please
clarify what's left to do here (or perhaps track it on a finer-grained

[Bug 1960702] [NEW] all snap apps gone after snap upgrade

2022-02-12 Thread Martin Vysny
Public bug reported:

After snap has been upgraded yesterday to 2.54.2+21.10ubuntu1, all hell
broke loose. All snap-installed apps are gone from gnome - snap firefox
cannot be selected as the default browser, gnome says there's no app to
handle https:// links when trying to report bugs via ubuntu-bug, firefox
launch icon is missing from the dock launcher, even fish prints some
kind of error to the console:

```
/usr/share/fish/vendor_conf.d/snapd.fish (line 3):
fish_add_path -aP $snap_bin_path
^
from sourcing file /usr/share/fish/vendor_conf.d/snapd.fish
 called on line 294 of file /usr/share/fish/config.fish
from sourcing file /usr/share/fish/config.fish
 called during startup
```

Firefox has no icon and is showing as the "grey cog wheel" icon, see
screenshot for details. Luckily, firefox and all snap apps can be
started from the terminal.

snap chromium is not present in Gnome Applications list, but when
started from the terminal the icon in dock is correct for some reason.

None of the snap apps (firefox, chrome, intellij) can be "pinned" in
Ubuntu Dock.

[Bug 1960703] [NEW] USB TASCAM US-122L audio interface crashes when system load increases

2022-02-12 Thread Johan van Zoomeren
Public bug reported:

The TASCAM US-122L, in previous versions of Ubuntu worked okay, with an
occasional xrun reported by jackd, running with default settings (sample
rate: 48000, frames/period: 1024). In Ubuntu 21.10 the device loads
without problem, playback is perfect, but when the system load
increases, it immediately crashes.

dmesg:
[  218.607518] xhci_hcd :00:14.0: ERROR unknown event type 37
[  218.613370] underrun, status=4294967278

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0644:800e TEAC Corp. TASCAM US-122L

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 21.10
Release:21.10

Reproduction steps:
1) Start jackd
2) Start OBS with an USB webcam at 1080p
3) OBS monitor out goes to jackd/us-122L system port
4) Start Zoom, Thunderbird etc to generate some load
5) Immediately crashes

Crash occurs even quicker when adding and actively using another 4
channel USB audio device(same sample rate and period size). So the issue
seems related to the load on the USB subsystem as well as the CPU load.
I've tried just about anything to find out if the issue is hardware
related. Changed cables, used different hubs, no-hub, used different USB
ports on the laptop, etc, etc, etc. Same result every time. Also normal
playback using PulseAudio instead of Jack suffers from the same. Each
time a reset of Jack is needed to get the US-122L to work again.

I've tried, besides the default Ubuntu kernel(5.13.0-28-generic) the
latest upstream mainline kernel(5.17.0-051700rc3-generic) as well as the
low latency kernel (5.13.0-28-lowlatency). Same result.

If more information is needed, please let me know. Any help is much
appreciated. Thank you in advance.

[Bug 1956461] Re: Creative HD720p webcam doesn't work

2022-02-12 Thread Attila Horvath
Thanks to macg3, the workaround you suggested works for me on kernel
5.4.0-99.112. There is one correction. The name of the audio driver is
snd_usb_audio and not snd-usb-audio. So in my case after a fresh boot
the webcam did not work, and after executing:

sudo modprobe -r snd_usb_audio
sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo
sudo modprobe uvcvideo
sudo modprobe snd_usb_audio

It started to work OK.

[Bug 1960701] Re: ubuntu install crash

2022-02-12 Thread Paul White 
The following errors can be found in UbiquitySyslog.txt which was
automatically attached to this bug report:

  Feb 12 13:31:46 ubuntu kernel: [ 1089.240646] SQUASHFS error: zlib

  Feb 12 13:31:46 ubuntu kernel: [ 1089.240651] SQUASHFS error:
squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x1e031876

It's possible you had a bad write to your installation media or for some
other reason its contents could not be read correctly. If you're still
having problems you should try re-writing the image to your media (and
possibly re-download it).

Please let us know if that resolves your problem.

[Bug 1960702] Re: all snap apps gone after snap upgrade

The same thing happened just now on my other laptop after upgrading to
newest snapd, so this bug is not related to just one machine only.

This is critical - not for me since I can launch those apps from
terminal, but for less experienced users, since they will perceive this
as apps disappearing for no apparent reason.

We have several FreeIPA servers, currently running CentOS 8.

Because CentOS Streams is unsuitable for a productive environment, we
are considering to switch to Ubuntu Server instead.

It would be nice if this package will be re-included in the upcoming 22

[Bug 1960709] [NEW] Recent bluez update broke Bluetooth for setups using a BT dongle

2022-02-12 Thread Saverio Miroddi
Public bug reported:

A recent upgrade (seemingly 5.53-0ubuntu3.5) broke Bluetooth
functionality for certain setups.

Specifically, the `ConditionPathIsDirectory=` parameter has been added
to the `bluetooth` Systemd unit. This breaks setups where users use a
Bluetooth dongle, since when the system starts, the BT device may not be
connected, and due to the condition, the `bluetooth` unit won't start at
all.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
review all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Unfortunately it was never possible to work on your bug report as you
gave us no indication as to which release or flavour of Ubuntu you were
using at the time you reported this bug. I'm closing this issue but
please feel free to create a new bug report if you still see an issue
while using a currently supported release of Ubuntu.

When reporting bugs please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name
of the package affected so that information about your installation can
be automatically collected. You can learn more about this functionality

[Bug 1559429] Re: Xorg crash after middle button paste in Chromium under kernel 4.4 LTS

2022-02-12 Thread Paul White 
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-standard-support on April 25, 2019.
Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021.

Your comments in #2 have been noted and I agree that updating BIOS
seldom fixes problems in Ubuntu.

Depending on replies to questions that should have been asked of you
five years ago this bug report might have been moved to the 'chromium-
browser' or 'linux' package and received further attention from the
developers of the respective developers.

However, do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported
while using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know
if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately
60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu

[Bug 1639483] Re: cgange resolution

2022-02-12 Thread Paul White 
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-standard-support on April 25, 2019.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported when
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do otherwise this report can be left to expire in approximately 60 days
time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Incomplete

** Summary changed:

- cgange resolution
+ Change resolution?
