[Bug 1927925] Re: Massive network problems with I219-V on Thinkpad T14 Gen2 (e1000e)
The current kernel was started using the kernel parameter, speeds where fine. I did hibernate, restart the laptop, and now network was broken. I did another reboot afterwards, booting clean with kernel parameter but now network connectivity is still broken. I am not able to spot the system behind all this. Sometimes the behaviour is predictable, sometimes it seems completely random. ** Attachment added: "dmesg-after-hibernate.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1927925/+attachment/5506959/+files/dmesg-after-hibernate.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1927925 Title: Massive network problems with I219-V on Thinkpad T14 Gen2 (e1000e) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1927925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1929657] Re: [Ubuntu 20.4.2] vLan not getting static IP assigned (on s390x)
Thank you! The core problem still is that systemd-networkd does not find any .link and .network file for the enP53p0s0.171 interface, that's why it cannot apply any configuration (IP address): > ? 9: enP53p0s0.171 > Link File: n/a > Network File: n/a This might very well be related to the additional /etc/systemd/network/10-enP53p0s0.link, which is now gone and apparently not needed (good!) – leave that away. Still the configuration/match of that file might still be loaded into the running udev, so we must somehow reset udev to a clean state. I'd like to ask you for another test run (and potential reboot of that machine – if that is possible?): # try to reload udev at runtime udevadm control --reload; udevadm trigger; udevadm settle # wait a bit sleep 30 # apply netplan configuration netplan --debug apply # wait a bit sleep 30 # check results networkctl status enP53p0s0.171 --no-pager ip a If the IP is still not set, could you please try to reboot the machine and check "networkctl" afterwards? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1929657 Title: [Ubuntu 20.4.2] vLan not getting static IP assigned (on s390x) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1929657/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1933649] [NEW] Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install
Public bug reported: I am attempting to install Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 from a freshly downloaded Live image on a USB stick. My computer boots from the image and I get to the point where it displays an empty desktop with the Focal Fossa background image. After displaying the empty desktop for a few seconds, the screen switches to black with a white Ubuntu logo towards the bottom and a narrow vertical white rectangle which I suppose is an artefact of some menu that it fails to display properly. I would expect Ubuntu to either display the desktop to me, populated with various icons such as a shortcut to install, or display some install menu to me. Neither happens; it only displays this black screen where I cannot do anything. I attach an photo of this. This is quite a problem as it prevents me from installing Ubuntu 20.04.2.0. I am able to switch to a terminal by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 and log in as "ubuntu", but I have no idea what I would have to do to initiate the install from the terminal or somehow fix the broken desktop environment from there. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: focal ** Attachment added: "Image of symptom of error on screen" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933649/+attachment/5507011/+files/Billede%2025.06.2021%2013.55.49.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933649 Title: Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1933649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1927545] Re: Some of Lenovo Lenovo Essential Wireless Keyboard Fn keys doesn't work
With v7 it seems that Fn+F4 and Fn+F10 still do nothing, however other media keys got Mute Mic mapping as well as their primary function. For example if I press Vol+ I hear that volume increased but also GNOME shows that microphone become muted. This happens for mute, vol+, vol- and playback control keys. [Bug 1933649] Re: Focal Fossa 20.04.2.0 Live installer only displays black screen with no ability to install
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 (Did you verify the ISO before writing to your installation media? ie. https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-how-to-verify-ubuntu#0 Did the verification of your media complete? you can check for issues in the terminal you mention getting to) I've marked this bug incomplete as it looks like you need support rather than having a bug to report. Insufficient details were provided I feel to get know where the issue is, as no details were provided as to what was attempted. This bug can be converted into a question, which may help. If you believe I'm in error, leave a comment outlining what steps you've performed or the reason why. You can then return the status to "New". You'll need to run apport-collect once the package has been changed to a relevant one (insufficient detail exists currently to know it is; as no details on ISO/media validation were provided etc). [Bug 1903612] Re: Can't Load vfio-pci Module on Ubuntu 18.04 HWE Kernel
Hello Youhei, we have found the `modinfo` command (from the kmod package[1]) will need to be at least with version 27 (which is available in Focal) to support reading information from built-in modules. To be more precise, with these commits: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.git/commit/?h=v27&id=60084cf1cb24dc3a257976c0d539a4c3ffda5db5 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.git/commit/?h=v27&id=73eed2aba3cbe18bbda40f18f7bc32e8de1ec81f https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.git/commit/?h=v27&id=b866b2165ae6cf18fb26b635f4a7ee57c0334731 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/kernel/kmod/kmod.git/commit/?h=v27&id=e7e2cb61fa9f1db3429d91ef6accff549500d268 I have these changes backported here: https://code.launchpad.net/~cypressyew/ubuntu/+source/kmod/+git/kmod/+ref/builtin-test If you want to give this a try, you can clone this repo and do the following: git clone -b builtin-test https://git.launchpad.net/~cypressyew/ubuntu/+source/kmod sudo apt install gtk-doc-tools autoconf automake libtool cd kmod ./autogen.sh ./configure CFLAGS='-g -O2' --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --libdir=/usr/lib --with-rootprefix= --with-rootlibdir=/lib make cd tools ./modinfo vfio-pci This will fix this modinfo issue, it can print the built-in module info correctly. Hopefully we can push this to Ubuntu archive later. Regarding DPDK, I have no experience with it, not sure if it will use the modinfo command here (a quick check with their repository[2] I didn't see it calling modinfo directly.) I found this article with keyword "unused vfio-pci dpdk" on the Internet, it looks like you will have to bind the driver to the device with something like: # dpdk-devbind -b vfio-pci :01:00.0 :01:00.1 Hope this helps: https://www.miraclelinux.com/tech-blog/gofc5x [1] https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod [2] https://github.com/DPDK/dpdk -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903612 Title: Can't Load vfio-pci Module on Ubuntu 18.04 HWE Kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/+bug/1903612/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1906741] Re: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio
I have seen this happening for months, though not very often. But it happened yesterday and today again. Music playing in the background (via Audacious) is garbled. This usually happens when I open a website in a new tab. Sounds like a bitcrusher effect to me. I can reverse the effect by closing tabs, but I do not see a clear cause-and-effect pattern. There are not too many tabs open (< 15), it began when I opened Red Hat's site, but I had to close three other tabs before it reverted to normal. Also, the sites did not even play Audio, none of them. I'm on Linux for more than 15 years. [Bug 1882890] Re: intel-ucode/06-4e-03 from release 20200609 hangs system in early boot
So, according to Intel, the probable cause for 0x406e3 and 0x506e3 processors to fail loading the microcode update *early* is an incompatibility when you update from a very old microcode release in BIOS/UEFI (BIOS has a revision older/smaller than 0x80) to the newer microcode updates. This information was provided by Intel in the upstream bug report: https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-Files/issues/31#issuecomment-761228960 However, it looks like it could have been fixed by the latest microcode update batch, from 20210608, which contains microcode revision 0xea for the 0x406e3 and 0x506e3 processors. It would be extremely helpful if anyone that had this issue could test the 20210608 microcode update and report, please. It helps if you include the contents of /proc/cpuinfo *without* the microcode update, and then the contents of /proc/cpuinfo *with* the microcode update installed. [Bug 1931088] Re: boot-and-services tests fails in impish on armhf (248.3)
So I can reproduce the problem even locally, using a simple: `autopkgtest systemd --test-name=boot-and-services -- lxd autopkgtest/ubuntu/impish/amd64` When logging into the (stalled) system, while it is waiting for its timeout I can see that eth0 gets configured, but then put in DOWN state. Therefore, systemd-networkd-wait-online.service (and thus network-wait- online.target) never get ready and the test times out waiting on "network-wait-online.target". A simple "networkctl up eth0" (inside the LXD container) during that 60s "timeout-wait" makes the test runner connect an finish the test successfully. The culprit for bringing down the interface seems to be "/run/systemd/system/network-device-down.service", but I have no idea where this files comes from or what it is used for. It's not part of any package. That service has a "Before=NetworkManager.service" dependency, that's why it only breaks tests making use of network-manager (boot-and- services & boot-smoke). The LXD/LXC stack seems to be somehow involved in creating that file: https://github.com/lxc/lxc-ci/pull/266 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1931088 Title: boot-and-services tests fails in impish on armhf (248.3) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/auto-package-testing/+bug/1931088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
