[Bug 1920180] Re: Can't detect intel wifi 6235
It will take a while for a patch to be merged, so you will lose wifi 6235 if you update to newer kernels. There are processes to merge a patch. A normal process is like below: 1. a patch is sent to upstream (cc to stable kernel) 2. it gets reviewed and merged by a maintainer, and is included in next kernel release 3. it gets merged to stable kernels (in this case, 5.4 kernel) 4. a kernel is released by a distro (i.e. in this case Ubuntu kernel) Note: I don't know how Linux Mint picks up Ubuntu kernel and there may be some time too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1920180 Title: Can't detect intel wifi 6235 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1920180/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Note that fwupd/focal 1.4.6-1~ubuntu20.04.1 is a no change rebuild from the one in groovy. https://launchpad.net/~ycheng-twn/+archive/ubuntu/f4 ** Description changed: Per OEM customer work flow, we need to SRU focal/fwup to version 1.4.x Per currently groovy fwupd is version 1.4.5-1, per SRU quality POV, it's rather a low risk to do so. [Impact] * There are two incident happened that make OEM customer's machine un-bootable. Although it can be manually work-around and take very short time to re-sping another firmware version, it's still bad. Per conclusion, customer want to en-roll firmware by themself. And that need update fwupd. [Test Plan] * find a machine and try to upgrade firmware, and confirm it works. [Where problems could occur] * Given fwupd 1.4.5 is landed in groovy, it's fairly safe to do so. [Other Info] * update fwupd have new dependency on libjcat, that's tracked in lp:1920724 + + + [Steps] + 1. upgrade libjcat/universe/focal from version 0.1.0-2 to 0.1.3-2. + 2. [Bug 1920141] Re: [SRU] openvswitch 2.13.3 / linking changes in DPDK 19.11.x
The DPDK portion of this, which currently blocks the rebuild of OVS, is due to this issue [1]. I've reported and blocked this issue from 19.11.4, but it eventually crept into 19.11.6 as discussed here [2]. I'll discuss upstream if everyone would be ok with taking those conflicting changes out of 19.11.x (my preferred way) and until then provide you a preliminary DPDK build into the PPA [3]. [Bug 1919923] Re: mod_python statically linked to wrong python 2.7 version
Hi Stefan, Thanks for the information. I can reproduce it here easily. I'm just curious if the rebuild of libapache2-mod-python against 2.7.18 should fix this so I'd like to ask if you can check if install libapache2-mod-python from this (https://launchpad.net/~utkarsh/+archive/ubuntu/experimental-dump) PPA fixes the original issue for you? [Bug 1919923] Re: mod_python statically linked to wrong python 2.7 version
Indeed thanks Stefan and Utkarsh, also with that known one can see that the build of libapache2-mod-python was done against 2.7.17-1ubuntu5. See: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libapache2-mod-python/3.3.1-11ubuntu5 https://launchpadlibrarian.net/464118415/buildlog_ubuntu-focal-amd64.libapache2-mod-python_3.3.1-11ubuntu5_BUILDING.txt.gz @Utkarsh - Somewhat independent to the case here I wonder if this has a strong dependency to 2.7.17 or 2.7.18 (as the error indicates) if the package dependencies to "libpython2.7 (>= 2.7)" are sufficient. >=2.7 seems wrong, even >2.7.17 would be wrong as we have 2.7.18 and it fails. Almost like =2.7.17 (or on rebuild =2.7.18). Once the immediate case is resolved it might be worth spending a bit of time to look if dh-python or libapache2-mod-python needs a fix here to create better package dependencies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919923 Title: mod_python statically linked to wrong python 2.7 version To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libapache2-mod-python/+bug/1919923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1920749] [NEW] [Thinkpad Yoga X1] Computer stuck when screen touched with touchpen
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 4th Gen. My OS version is 20.04. My touchscreen works fine, but when I use my pen the entire OS freezes and even any sound that plays repeats in a loop that is maybe half a second long. @Fred eldmannen+launchpad This issue is only fixed in the Ubuntu patchset for the Linux Kernel. Although I have submitted this fix upstream, it has not been picked up yet by kernel.org vanilla kernels. See https://lkml.org/lkml/2021/1/14/1091 The mainline builds you point to, do not contain Ubuntu patchset, and thus are as vanilla as possible. [Bug 1920755] [NEW] ip route parsing fails with multipath routing
Public bug reported: The systemd unit provided in the Ubuntu package attempts to parse the output of `ip route show to exact 0/0` in order to automatically populate with the `-P` flags for each next hop. Unfortunately this parsing is not robust and breaks on a host with multipath routing. This is the current value of ExecStart from the systemd unit: ExecStart=/bin/sh -c "exec /usr/sbin/oidentd -S ${OIDENT_OPTIONS} -u \"${OIDENT_USER}\" -g \"${OIDENT_GROUP}\" \ `[ \"${OIDENT_BEHIND_PROXY}\" = \"yes\" ] && ip route show to exact 0/0 | awk '{print \"-P \" $3}'`" This is what output of `ip route ...` on a host with multipath routing (in this case with BGP unnumbered next hops) looks like for reference: $ ip route show to exact 0/0 default proto bgp metric 20 nexthop via 169.254.0.1 dev ens2f1np1 weight 1 onlink nexthop via 169.254.0.1 dev eno34np1 weight 1 onlink nexthop via 169.254.0.1 dev ens2f0np0 weight 1 onlink nexthop via 169.254.0.1 dev eno33np0 weight 1 onlink Currently, `-P bgp -P 169.254.0.1 -P 169.254.0.1 -P 169.254.0.1 -P 169.254.0.1` is added to the command however this results in the following error: Fatal: Unknown host: "bgp" To fix the parsing of this output so that it works regardless of whether there is one or more than one next hop (and provide all next hops as arguments), the ExecStart can be changed to the following which matches just the lines in the output which have "via" as the second field in the output: ExecStart=/bin/sh -c "exec /usr/sbin/oidentd -S ${OIDENT_OPTIONS} -u \"${OIDENT_USER}\" -g \"${OIDENT_GROUP}\" \ `[ \"${OIDENT_BEHIND_PROXY}\" = \"yes\" ] && ip route show to exact 0/0 | awk '$2 == \"via\" {print \"-P \" $3}'`" It may be additionally desirable to pipe that output into `sort -u`. A simple workaround for other users running into this issue is to disable (set to "no") the OIDENT_BEHIND_PROXY variable in /etc/default/oidentd assuming that the host is not behind a proxy. Since the default for the package is for this to be enabled, if the host is using multipath when the package is installed, starting the service fails causing the package install/update to fail so I think it would be ideal to make the parsing more robust (as suggested). Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 I've marked this as incomplete, as it looks like you need support (no indication that you've update your software lists since installation was provided, held-broken packages that requires fixing), etc. If you believe I'm in error, please leave a comment as to why, and change the status back to "New". Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1920753 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu => build-essential (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1920753 Title: Cannot install build-essential on fresh Ubuntu 20.04.2 installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/build-essential/+bug/1920753/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1920759] [NEW] kdump-tools passes wrong arguments to makedumpfile
Public bug reported: Commit 38fe0c8f41fd (Support compressing the dumpfile) [1] changes the call to makedumpfile : - makedumpfile $MAKEDUMP_ARGS $vmcore_file "$KDUMP_CORETEMP" + makedumpfile $MAKEDUMP_ARGS $vmcore_file | compress > "$KDUMP_CORETEMP" This introduces a regression because makedumpfile is called with the wrong arguments and as a result instead of creating a real dumpfile it creates a file which contains an error message : # cat /var/crash/202103181853/dump.202103181853 makedumpfile: version 1.6.8++ (released on 16 Nov 2020) command line: makedumpfile -c -d 31 -D /proc/vmcore Commandline parameter is invalid.
